WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2010

39 posts in this topic

Amazon already confirmed it as shipping and getting here by tomorrow.

Reviews have been overwhelmingly positive across the board as being the definitive WWE experience, and I'm convinced that the new Story Designer mode will take me back to my childhood; I'll be the best booker this side of Vince McMahon/Jim Cornette/Paul Heyman/insert-your-booker-here! Not only that, but created wrestlers are now easily downloadable with a new database to which you can upload your creations (including former WWE/F, WCW, and ECW talent) as well as created finishing moves and created entrances, including the ability to use match highlight reels as created entrance movies for your wrestlers!

Anyone getting the PS3 version, be sure to look out for my created storylines in the near-future. I smell a return of The Rock to the WWE, as well as a possible change of heart for John Cena, a re-working of Degeneration X, and something new for one Y2J Chris Jericho. :)

I may get it (I don't have a ton of money at the moment, and I'm totally down for Borderlands tomorrow). I was hooked to SVR: 2009 last year. It actually got me back into watching wrestling. I've always been horrid at making decent looking CAWs. They all looked the same, because I could never make anything decently enough to get variety out of it.

I didn't know about some of the features like the Story Designer mode.

09 was horrible in comparison to its predecessors, they took out gm mode which is what a lot of people where hoping for and the roster was lackluster and broken. (HHH's & Cena's 5 moves of doom anyone?)

Hopefully this can satisfy me unlike last year.

BTW Swagger FTW.

The Story Designer mode gives you nearly unlimited freedom in making your own storylines. Using over 100 different set pieces and situations, you determine the wrestlers involved (including created ones, though there are limitations as to how many of those you can use), their actions, their facial expressions, the camera angles, the crowd reactions, and the text-based dialogue. You can create as little as one night or as many as TEN YEARS' worth.

Maybe, but I picked it up on a whim, just for something to pass the time by. I was very let down by Road to Wrestlemania, but for a little bit of time it was enjoyable. Not the best wrestling game I've ever played, but good. Just my opinion though. Last Smackdown I played before 09 was SVD 07.

that's what i excell at when wrestlemania 2000 was on nintendo 64 people would give me their memory cards to import my caws (for a price of course).I would work on them for hours or days (watching tapes and writing down moves and what not)I had wcw ,ecw, and japanese wrestlers I loved it and have absolutley loved the layering.I had a mutant royal rumble with all my x-men characters.I miss making them tho haven't had the time to do them anymore this new mode sounds awesome i just don't have the money to drop atm.X-mas is coming lol

You best have A Dusty Finish, If You Weel Jack!

I hated the old Acclaim Games like WWF Attitude and ECW Hardcore Revolution It was a miracle to do a vertical suplex to someone. I had other Games like WCW Mayhem and Backstage Assault. I watchd alot of WCW cause my dad watched Ric Flair back in the old NWA so I kinda watched that. but It was fun flipping back and forth between NItro and RAW is WAR I liked em better then the WWF games til WM2000 and No Mercy

I only got to play for a little under an hour yesterday because I was swamped with work, and most of that time was spent going through the front end and messing around (lots of stuff to do there), but the game is as amazing as advertised. Gameplay is still very similar to last year's edition, but there's enough subtle changes to make it feel somewhat fresh. The new modes are extremely well done (still haven't gone through Story Designer, though) and I completely forgot that they included a Create An Entrance Movie option! You basically take gameplay footage from your matches and edit them to your liking, then add effects and filters after, and string together an entrance movie for either the real-life wrestlers or your created ones.

I was messing around with Story Designer mode, it isn't bad at all. Options are pretty varied and gives you alot of options on your storylines. Granted, I didn't mess around alot with it, it was like... 6:00am when I got around to it.

The main gripe I have with it right now is, they cut down massively on the available names spoken by announcers for your created wrestlers. It's pitiful actually. I was at least able to get the announcers to say my wrestlers first name, now it's all pretty cliche, generic names. Ugh. Not only that, but now the in game music (that's not actual WWE entrance music) isn't available for created wrestlers entrance music. Thankfully I could find some decent music in my CD collection to use, heh.

Aside from those two minor gripes, the game is pretty top notch.

I just started Story Designer Mode tonight...soooooo addictive!

I crafted a story where The Rock (I used a cheat code to unlock him because i'm too impatient to wait, lol) returns to WWE RAW! Randy Orton protests the show of appreciation for a Hollywood actor over himself being the WWE Champion, when he's interrupted by The Rock who reveals himself to not only be the new GM of RAW, but also Orton's mystery opponent for the WWE Title match that night! Shane McMahon is then interviewed and explains that his dad wanted a big name to be the permanent celebrity guest host of RAW after the revolving door of celebrities got to be too much, and who bigger than The Rock? He also explains that Rock's ability to put himself into title matches isn't a serious conflict of interest because Shane and his dad certainly aren't ones to judge.

From there, the rest of the show basically revolves around various opinions of The Rock, with people lining up for a title shot regardless of who's champion. Lots of pay-per-view quality matches (including Triple H vs. Chris Jericho to start the first series of matches) and just basically what I'd like to see on RAW.

Having A LOT of fun with it, even though it's VERY time-consuming. :)

Well, I found a new, bigger gripe with the game. After finishing my created wrestler, moveset, entrance and all. I played some career mode, won the Intercontinental and US Championships, was up to like...52 overall. But decided to make some minor changes to my appearance (I didn't like the color of my tights afterall). Well, needless to say, after changing only the color... my stats were reset to the default 39 overall, my entrance was reset to default, and so was my moveset.

So now I've redone my entance, moveset, and back to trying to get my stats up.... again.

That might be a glitch, I'm not sure. Good thing I haven't gone and created myself yet...

Well, you might want to wait a bit or so then. Oh well, I never get tired of beating up on the Miz and R Truth (I cannot stand either for the life of me. I swear, R Truth's entrance "rap" sounds like an 11 year old wrote it).

I'm too preoccupied thinking of ways to have The Rock be a tweener in his role as the new RAW GM. I haven't finished making up my first full episode of RAW yet.

So far, I planted the seeds for the tweener status by having him be Randy Orton's mystery opponent for the WWE Title (stated above), but I also inserted a post-match promo where Triple H says he doesn't give a damn about a guy who hasn't been around for years, then had Jeri-Show bust into the GM's office and demand a match with DX for Y2J getting pinned earlier, and Rock granted their request and let them choose the stipulation to be revealed next week.

Not done yet, but I'm telling you...it's gonna be EPIC. I'm doing an amalgamation of current storylines with a gradual shift towards my own restructuring of the shows. So, the talent on each brand and their feuds are mostly true-to-life, but I'm adding my own twist.

He's fragile (something like four injuries in the past few years), and he rubs a lot of people the wrong way, according to what I've read. I can see that, since his character is an extension of his personality.

On another note, I think I might make tag teams relevant again. The seeds are planted. That will probably be my other huge story arc alongside The Rock being RAW GM.

I should probably stop telling y'all the specifics if I'm offering it up as a download later, lol.

Batista has actually improved on the mic, IMO. Not the best talker in the industry, obviously, but his confidence is exuded on the microphone and he gets his points across bluntly. As for his in-ring work, he's decent when paired with a good worker, but I can see where you'd say he's garbage. I much prefer him to The Great Khali or Mike Knox, though. Or, if you want another muscle-bound big man for reference, I prefer him to Chris Masters or Luther Reigns (remember him?) or Ezekiel Jackson.

Needless to say, Batista may have very little to do with my RAW storyline. lol.

I like the powerhouse since yeah Batista has shown some improvement but meh not for me.Kennedy wowed me from day one with his mic...not to mention his youtube videos(see secondpower) but right now the young talent is blowing me away (john Morrison)anyway we way off topic .
I usually don't get the svr games til the next one is near coming out but this one sounds intriging.

I'm telling you, this one is worth getting ASAP. Everything is just so well-done, there's very few major faults. The customization is beyond insane in almost all aspects.

And weird as it sounds, as long as it takes to create each scene in Story Designer mode (in making it perfect, anyway), it's very addictive and just as fun to play out as it is just to build. I mean, most people probably won't ever play their own stories all the way through since they know what'll happen, but it's fun seeing the wrestlers do what YOU want them to do on-screen and saying what YOU want them to say (in text) and things going almost exactly to your liking.

The load times are a little bit annoying in the mode (something like 20-45 seconds between scenes/matches, because wrestlers and text and sounds all have to be loaded each time each time), but you get used to them, especially if some scenes have more dialogue than others. You're limited to only 12 text blocks per scene (something like 120 characters per block), but it's not a huge problem so long as you get creative (have dialogue continue from one block to the next) or learn to be more concise with what you want each speaker to say.

sounds decent will put on the list thanks for the updates i hope they make austin dlc tho since i didnt preorder
[/quote]
Austin will likely be DLC later; the man is already on the disc, so it'd only make sense to let it be unlocked via a patch & cheat code or even paid DLC (even though many people would be hesitate to shell out more than a buck for a wrestler already on their disc.)

The Rock, meanwhile, can be unlocked either via a cheat code, a special code given to pre-orders via Gamestop, or by completing Edge's Road to Wrestlemania story.

I'm actually impressed with the list of unlockables, ranging from lots of alternate outfits to some WWE Legends.

I just uploaded the first episode of my created story, for those interested, for the PS3 version of the game.

Search for "The Franchise - RAW-1" uploaded under theFRANCHISE325x. 5 matches (2 one-on-one matches, 1 triple-threat match for the United States title, 1 backstage brawl, 1 one-on-one WWE Title match.) There's three big angles, with two of them overlapping somewhat. 17 total segments, should take you an hour or hour-and-a-half to finish, ideally. That's assuming you're not trying to finish these matches as quickly as possible and sitting through the segments and whatnot.

So I found out that the Attribute reset is a glitch caused by creating a new attire for your created wrestler. Editing an attire doesn't reset it, just creating a new one does. Guess I shouldn't have copied and pasted my base attire before. Oh well, back to where I was. Just thought some of you guys would like to know, for future reference.
