I Love Michael Oher

"In the second half, I feel like I shut him out," Oher said. "There is nothing really special about him. I think if we played them [in Baltimore], it would make a big difference. The false starts were just mistiming the snap."

Allen did have a sack in the fourth quarter when he came at Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco completely unblocked, but it looked as if Oher let him go in anticipation of a screen that was slow to develop. Flacco never saw Allen coming. But the very next play, Oher sealed off Allen and Flacco stepped up in the pocket and hit Kelley Washington for a 28-yard gain.

"I think he found out I'm an OK player," Oher said. "Guy makes like $100 million. I think I did all right."

Love the way he talks and played against Allen. He really did a solid job in the second half against Allen.

As good as Jared Allen is, Oher made him look bad on several occasions and pushed him several yards off the ball on both of Rice's TD runs. He's going to be a great player.

He did do a solid job and seems to handle anything the NFL throws at him. Can only get better from here too. He takes his job seriously and performs well every week. I wish a few others on our squad had his mindset and determination.

Oher was awesome! I'm frustrated for him about the one sack he gave up to Allen where he didn't even try to block him. I would have loved for Oher to shut him out but I assume that will be listed as a sack allowed. I'm sure it was a mistake on Ohers part but to give up a cheap one like that is frustrating for Oher. That one sack might hurt his chances for rookie of the year. It would be hard enough for an OT to win the award but if he didn't allow a sack all year he may have had a chance.

I'm glad he's happy with his performance as Jared shredded him in the 1st half on almost every play. He did good in the 2nd half but he shouldn't be running around talking trash about Jared, it's not like he called him out or something. And i still wonder why they decided to not touch Jared on that one play where he recorded a sack. The person that designed that play must feel incredibly dumb. What went wrong the day during the offseason when he put that play together? Was he drunk? Did he actually think it would work? Not blocking a DE and then expect to still complete a pass? Mind boggling. Common sense should have told him that you know what, this makes no sense at all. Let's start over again. This play is not gonna work. It's fascinating that he actually thought this would work.

did you watch the same game? Oher held his ground against Allen majority of the game. there were several plays in the first half where Allen went nowhere. That free sack looked like it was designed to be a throw out to the flat as oher broke out to block downfield. Maybe miscommunication. Oher basically shut down the best DE in the league right now. And Allen is on a hot streak. that says a lot for a rookie.

Drafting Oher instead of a WR this year is going to pay off for many years to come. I don't see any of the first round WR's breaking out.

I had confidence that Oher would handle allen. Allen is a speed rusher and the only way he was going to beat Oher was to beat him with speed but Oher was more than fast enough.

You guys are only looking at it from the passing game's perspective. Oher couldn't handle Allen at all in the running game. Jared was also pressuring Flacco a lot but he got rid of the ball quicker than JA could get there.

Are you serious? Allen made a few nice tackles whenever the McGahee danced to the outside but Oher road-graded him on both of Rice's TDs and on several other plays too.

It's not difficult to down block when the DE is using an up field speed rush. Any O-Lineman in the league can make that block. When JA read the run, and stopped his pass rush, he stayed in his gap and faught off Oher with ease and got in on a bunch of tackles.

The fact is, for a rookie OT going against one of the leading candidates for DPOY, Oher played well. He got shcooled at times but to me, he wore Allen down in the 4th quarter. You give Flacco credit for releasing the ball quicker but why not give Oher credit for giving up a sack that was supposed to be a screen. And why not credit Oher for playing well when we've seen other OTs crumble when they lined up opposite Allen?

Here's Allen's stats from yesterday. Oher did alright and he looks like he has a nice future in front of him but he didn't have the kind of game that he should run his mouth after.

"a sack, seven tackles, four tackles for a loss and two quarterback hurries"

and here's what Allen had to say about Oher's comments,

“Well that’s just some idiot trying to talk himself up," Allen said. "I beat that dude like a red-headed step child, let’s be honest. If he was so good why did they have to chip me all day? Ask him that. That's just a rookie trying to build his self confidence up. Besides, you lost and your quarterback spent his whole day on the back of his head until the fourth quarter. That guy [Oher] will watch film today and realize. Everybody else in the world saw me abuse him."

The Vikings had the option to take Oher one pick before Baltimore and instead took Percy Harvin and then took Phil Loadholt in the second round. While I like Oher, I'll take Harvin/Loadholt vs. Oher/whomever you got 2nd round any day.

I thought Oher did very well considering a few thing Allen is known for is his intensity and his non stop motor. It seems like Oher wore him down and he was a non-factor in the second half.

Exactly. Oher was supposed to get his head handed to him on a silver platter by Allen. Instead he gave a top-ranked veteran a run for his money.

I think many, many people forget he is a rookie. Rookie, as in this is his first season playing professional football. I don't care what he did in college; I don't think it's the same. My point is how many of you never, ever made a mistake learning a new job? Toss in he was covering Gaither's side to boot and it makes what he did even more impressive.

Still, I wasn't surprised, tough odds are the story of his life. Well done, Michael!

Personally Id like to see Loadholt go in a game situation against Allen and see how he does before I take the Harvin/Loadholt combo. Our 2nd rounder doesnt dress so I dont see how you can make the comparison. Allen did abuse him the first half on plays, but if Allen was less of a hillbilly and watched the game film himself he'd see that Oher more than did his job in the second half and wasnt so "abused like a red headed step child" as he thought he did.

The sack was also a botched screen pass that Oher went out to block for and Allen came in untouched, hardly a sack he beat Oher for.

Jared Allen lashed out at Michael Oher because, while Jared had a nice game, he expected to dominate Oher. Didn't Jared have 4 sacks in one game recently? He realizes that while he did win the battle against Oher, he only got one sack and that was when Oher didn't even try to block him. Otherwise he was mostly a non-factor especially in the second half because either Joe got rid of the ball fast enough or Cam Cameron schooled Jared Allen on the finer art of gap control. Jared may think he schooled Oher but Ray Rice and our offense schooled him in the 4th quarter especially.

Gaither would have eaten Jared Allen alive. Gaither/Oher combo is the best in the league.

How about the 2 huge holes where Big O eliminated that mullet wearing hillbilly.. Result? Two touchdowns by Ray Rice. Guess he forgot about that. I seem to remember Allen being out motored by a RookiE, Jared was obviously frustrated and he lacks class.! I saw him panting like a like a dog.

Big O was the reason those TD's happened, Jared was put to sleep in the forth quarter.

The play where Allen stopped McGahee in the backfield Todd Heap was blocking him.

Jared Allen is such a tool. He said he beat oher like a red headed stepchild but only had 1 sack and let flacco throw for 385 yards and no turnovers.

Carl from ATHF is right, he belongs on the side of the road selling fireworks.

He was still pumped after sacking Rodgers over and over while coming in unblocked

Since there is a great chance that Samari Rolle will not return, and our CB's need help, the Raven's should look into Nnamdi Asomugha from Oakland. Our D is getting beat up!!

He's not going anywhere: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NFL&id=779&line=155513&spln=1

And whether you want to believe the report or not, few teams will want to go after him considering how much he makes. Also, why would Oakland trade him away and then spend YEARS continuing to pay him bonuses? They're a poorly run organization but they're not complete morons.
