If You Have The Swine Flu, You Should Probably Not Go To Work!

23 posts in this topic

Soon as I got into work this morning everyone was buzzing about how my boss has it and he still came to work. needless to say im not going anywhere near him. If I get it b/c of this I will be pissed, especially since I dont have insurance.

you can catch any flu even if you do not come in contact with the infected person. All they need to do is leave their germs behind on a surface that you touch.... and (like john madden) BOOM! Your infected. Good luck with that.

swine flu wont' kill you, it'll be one hell of a flu I'll give you that and it'll be a mind boggling pain experience once you get it for about a week or two but yea don't worry about your life getting threatened. Couple kids at my school got it and they said it's so painful that even their scalp started throbbing but they were fine after like 5 to 6 days. But yeah I agree, they shouldn't show up to work, possibly harming other people as well.

That sucks. I've heard that your supposed to be isolated from others for atleast 8 days after you've caught it because you'll still be contagious even after the symptoms are gone.

8 days is alot of time to miss. You should be really anti social and dont even interact with people at work, if you can. When I am in class I sit all the way in the front, to avoid sitting next to someone. I hate being sick.

My school gave us these packets of work to do if we get off for swine. So I'm praying no one gets it at my school.

Can you tell what I do for a living? I carry purell everywhere, make the kids wash their hands when they get home from school and I dole out the hand sanitizer and wet wipes at tailgate and lyesol wipe the tables before and after tailgate AND check the temp of the food. There is nothing like a RN with germaphobia :ICONATOR_01040da29c18a4eed76047

I've had Swine Flu, and can tell you it is NASTY.

The vast majority of people will just feel very unwell for 5-6 days but be fine, I think only those with other medical conditions or the elderly/very young are at high risk.

But yeah, its just like a very powerful flu with nausea and horrendous headaches. Resting up is all you can do, attempting work is near impossible though.

I recently read something that says to gargle salt water twice a day, because it has the same effect on people before the virus grows in your throat as the vaccine does to people who are already infected. Also the article said to actually use a q-tip or cotton swab soaked with salt water on the nasal cavity twice a day. Also, It went on to say to drink plenty of hot liquids (coffee, hot cocoa ect..) because it will wash the virus down into your stomach where it can not survive.

My girlfriend is a cashier at a store, so I have been getting very pro-active recently because I know she could get it and spread it to me before either of us even know it.

not to mention gargling with salt water with a sore throat makes the throat feel that much better.... I had strep throat.... you wanna talk about pain... try flying with that..... feels like 1009 needles are going into each of your ears (had gotten it in oklahoma.... had to fly back to NY)

Yeah, this stuff stinks.

I've got it right now, so don't touch my words on your PC screen... :)

My wife and 2 kids had it, I didn't get it for the 4-5 days they had it... and I thought I was clear - until last night.

Thank goodness I get sick leave.

The strange thing is, I'm having an overwhelming desire to eat from a trough... :P
