".....American Gangster is Jay-Z's 10th #1 album, which puts the rapper in a tie with Elvis Presley for second place among artists with the most #1 albums in the history of Billboard magazine's pop album chart. Only the Beatles, with 19 chart-topping albums, have amassed more....."

Congratulations to Jay-Z on an accomplishment VERY well-deserved.

American Gangster was definitely one of the better examples in today's rap music of conceptual storytelling, and it was a sonic experience that ranks higher than most of the rap albums released this year.

Nope, haven't seen the movie yet, but I've heard the acting is GREAT (as expected), even though the script takes liberties and is a little more fiction than fact...

But oh well, can't complain if two of my favorite actors (Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe) are in it.

Looking to go see it in theaters when I have time.

Jay is a lyrical master mind, one whom truly Understands the art of Creating Music and its concept and also Understands the concept of Hip Hop/Rap...of which is NOT always about women, how much cash you got, and what you ridin in....its much, much deeper than that....it's true meaning just gets lost with all the hype and what not now in days. Jay kinda brings Hip Hop back to where it should be and what not....he's just an All-round Heavy Weight in hte Music Industry.....and one of whom Owns "Roc-a-Fella Record's"

Jay-Z will never oust the Beatles.

I agree. It's almost impossible, given the climate of the music industry as of late in terms of record sales and the declining quality of mainstream music in general.

However...Jay-Z will come close. Very close.

And I doubt any solo artist in the next 20 years will match that.

hmmm i duunnnnnooo lol Jay Could become the number artist..but only time will tell if he actually does...i mean he does have the talent to do so and has the Skill needed to accomplish such a monumental task. But i feel he could do it. plus it would be an intriuging type of challenge for him to take on....the Guy LOVES what he does and has so much passion for it. i see no reason at all why he shouldnt. :)
