Rex Ryans D Overrated

21 posts in this topic

2nd week in a row they lost to a back up QB. Where is Bart "Playmaker" Scott? No sacks no Ints no game saving tackles in this game?! OVERRATED!!

I wouldn't call them overrated. Remember they were the defense to completely shut down Tom Brady. Maybe overrated a little. Now Mark Sanchez, completely overrated. Definitely not Flacco or Ryan like everyone is trying to make him. Today was the first game he has played in, in his life, that the temperature was under 55 degrees, and he throws 5 picks? Well Mark, it will only get colder.

Well the Ravens could be worse. We could be the Jets who just lost to some bottom dwellers. At least we've been playing competitively.

Rex's blitzes are looking worse without the personnel. It was all cute when it was new a few weeks ago. But it's getting stale real quick in NY.

Sanchez threw 5 picks, his D was the only reason that team was still in the game. I am not the biggest Ryan fan but I am going to call it like I see it. His D wasnt the reason they lost and I am not willing to call them overrated.

Coming into the game, they were last in the NFL with 4 sacks.

That doesn't sound like a Rex Ryan defense.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Rex Ryan's quarterback is overrated.

He wanted to have a strong d and run game and play a rookie qb... the problem is that he got Boller and not Flacco.

Bart Scott has never been a playmaking LB, hes a tackler thats what he does and he plays aggressive and reckless. Really if I was Ryan I'd make Harris the LB he centered his game plan around and put Bart back into his old role. Harris has been making impact plays all season long and Bart hasnt made one.

Holding a team to 13 points for 4 quarters is overrated? wow.

I know right, do we even have the grounds to say that Im pretty sure we give up a solid 28 a game lol.

With Ryan Fitzpatrick at QB yes lol. Rex Ryans D got run over by the wildcat the week before.

For weeks I have been saying to my friends that a.) Sanchez will come back down to earth (although he has a good shot at being pretty good), b.) The Rex Ryan defense will allow a ton of game-winning drives for the opponents despite shutting down other teams throughout the first three quarters, and c.) Rex Ryan's rhetoric is going to get really, really, really, really old when New York starts losing.

The Jets are just like us in so many ways, though.

That's going way too far for my taste.

Flacco had a similar stretch last year at almost the exact same point in the season where he struggled mightily against Indianapolis among other opponents.

I couldn't believe when I heard that today. And they drafted him to play in the Meadowlands? wow....

You're right, that was an exaggeration.

But let's be real: Indy>>>>>> Bills, Steelers>>>>> Bills

While I believe that Rex Ryan isn't the messiah I don't think he's overrated either. His defense only gave up 13 points despite being put in bad field position most of the day. Sanchez threw 5 ints and the jets as a team had 6 turnovers. The jets defense did force 2 turnovers as well. They just got burnt on a couple plays, especially on the td to lee evans who made jim leonard and another db look like statues.

The league is adjusting to Rex Ryan like anyone or anything else. A good example is his overload protections. The bills were recognizing the overload blitz scheme and sliding the protection to the side of the overload. I saw them pick it up handily at least 3 times, one of which they burned the jets on a WR screen.

Flacco had a horrible first 6 games, no doubt about that but the difference between Sanchez and Flacco, and where the Boller comparison comes in, is that Flacco struggled because he was new to the game and he was playing elite teams. Sanchez struggled yesterday vs. the Bills, and I truely believe it had a lot to do with the weather. Boller struggled with the weather a lot early in his career and early indication is that Sanchez will to.
