Merged: Positives From The Game

25 posts in this topic

I have never seen so much heart put in a game. Offense, defense even special teams. Forget the first half, the second half seemed like a perfect ball game. I feel bad for the broncos cause we will murder those guys.

Going into the bye week with such a good vibe will really help this team.

I know after every loss on here, we have people that come on and say ohh this should be done, that should be done. Hell, I am even guilty of it. This week though, I cant say anything. Early in the game, we got smoked for a quick 14. Then something happened and I may have been the only one to see it. I think our D started coming to life. I saw fire, I saw physicality, I saw us keep AP out of the end zone for the whole game! Now you can argue and say we gave up alot of points and I would agree with you but I think our D is about to start firing on all cylinders after this bye. I am very optimistic about the coming weeks. Besides the L I cant complain about this game. We seen that Cam found weak spots in their D and totally exploited it. D Will made a nice clutch reception along with a few from Kelley, Clayton, and Mase. I really like what we do in the 3 WR sets and we should stick with that more often. Since we couldnt run the ball in the begining against them, we used the pass to set up the run which was quite genious. This game in my eyes was the shock back to life. I see things going up from here

Yes, but where was this physicality and fire when we needed it most? I don't understand what happens to our guys when the game's on the line... Mattison just isn't cutting it.

We are so open to the big play this year it's crushing us! If we can tighten that up and limit the stupid penalties we'd be solid.

Uh Ravens D got them a 3 and out and Flacco charged just field but the FG was missed. Ravens need to cut Carr and Walker. Rex Ryan leaving has nothing to do with how bad they are playing. Mattison cant control the CBs falling down every other play

This forum is way too pessimistic! Sometimes I'm worried to come on here, because I'm afraid of some of the comments that are made. I'm inclined to think its just our expectations for this team ,but every loss seems like that last game of the year.

I don't know much but I do know we are a good football team and the 3 losses have all been close games. I hope we can go into this bye with a chip on our shoulder. Nonetheless here are some positives from this game:

- We finally found a kick returner in Webb that will make you hold your breath (in a good way) because at any second you feel he can break loose.

- Joe Flacco has a G-U-N, and is the quarterback we have been praying for. With him under center no game is out of reach.

- Ray Rice is a playmaker. Need I say more?

- I thought Foxworth played well and I believe he will continue to play well.

- I don't care what anyone says to me Ray Lewis still has it!

- Tavares Gooden and Danelle Ellerbe played well and will continue to develop.

- Finally how about a hand for our rookie Right Tackle/Left Tackle. Yes he had a few rookie mistakes but man I am so impressed by Micheal.

Alright fellow fans I hope you can take this post, read it and be at least happy about one thing. We are 3-3, lets move on and look forward to Denver. I think this bye is just what we needed.

The way Oher plays LT/RT is just insane. He has a defensive mentality and wants to hurt the other person going up against him and wont stop blocking til the whistle is blown.

HEY RAVENS FANS,

GREAT JOB ON BEHALF OF THE RAVENS OFFENSE. DON'T BLAME HAUSHKA FOR ANOTHER POOR OUTING BY THE SECONDARY. HOW LONG DO YOU THINK RAY WILL HOLD ON BEFORE HE GETS TO FRUSTRATED WITH THE CORNERS. FABIAN WASHINGTON ADDED TO THE DILEMMA THIS PAST WEEKEND. MAYBE WE SHOULD START LADARIUS AND FRANK WALKER. ANYWAY HANG IN THERE RAY, YOU'RE THE BEST EVER!! GOD BLESS FROM IRAQ.

A lot of people dont like Frank Walker but I think he is better than what we got now and should atleast start Nickel over Carr. Frank is physical, most of the time to physical but atleast knows what hes doing out there.

Ozzie needs to make some phone calls.

Aside from one or two plays, the defense played well in the second half. Couple that with the playmaking of Flacco and Rice, got us right back up in the mix of things. Walker needs to learn how to defend the pass though, maiming the receiver everytime is unacceptable.

Hopefully coming out of the bye week, we'll see the defense play more like the second half defense, then the first half. Yes, it wasn't perfect, but it was an improvement. With a week to get run ragged and work their tails off, I'm hoping to see an improved defense back for week 7 against the Broncos. Last year we started out badly, and finished strong. Sometimes it's the teams that are hot at the end of the season, that go deep into the post season, like we did last year. We were 3-3 last year at the end of week 7. So it's nothing to get too worried over. Baltimore showed alot of promise and hopefully that'll carry on for the rest of the season. Hopefully, every else gained some trust back in their team this week, despite the loss.

We're only one game back, and next week Pittsburgh plays Minnesota and Cincy plays Chicago, so we could very well be right in the thick of things come week 8.

Our offense came back strong but the defense needs to work on coverage skills. I saw to many plays where guys were out of position and that is becoming normal. Especially that touchdown on the slant route to berrian. Both our DBs went with the outside man.

Needless to say, we are all (ironically) Vikings fans next week, as well as Bears fans. ;)

I agree Oher did an good job, Rookie playing at veteran level against a elite pass rusher, one or two mistakes for a rookie is awesome, our veterans are making way more than 1 or 2 mistakes per game. This team has alot of HEART and fought to the end. It's not like were being blown away, the total points combined between all 3 losses is 11! Hopefully we tighten some screws going forward and will be ok. We are a good team, with some weaknesses.

i liked the fact that cam changed his game plan durring the game which i dont think he did last week in a game we should have won, i thought our d line and line backers finnaly came together towards the end, and i think the whole offense just had this dont give up attitude which put up a crazy preformance at the end, hats off to flacco and rice wow. it weird to be excited after a loss but that was a heck of a game. now we see what the ravens are and where we can go.

One positive that you cannot deny, the Ravens can't lose next week. :lol3:

Seriously, Flacco and RR stepped up huge late in the game. The offense needs to wake up earlier than they have been, especially sicne the D is most definitely struggling. It's hard enough being on the road, without having to come from behind by 17 points.

Regroup, refresh (get Gaither back....BIG POSITIVE) and spank the Broncos in 2 weeks.

As painful as the loss was, there were many positives in this game. Flacco took another step towards becoming an elite QB in this league. He hung in the pocket, took some big shots and lead the team down the field several times when all looked lost and ultimately put the team in a perfect position to win.

Ray Rice also took a step towards becoming a big-time RB in this league. He isn't big, nor does he have the second gear to pull away from defenders but he's still a great football player and he has heart and that may be all he needs. Speaking of heart, Lardarius Webb played with heart. Every time the team needed a big return, he came through. Had it not been for some penalties, the offense might have scored more than just 3 in the first half because Webb had some good returns early in the game too.

Both Kelley Washington and Mark Clayton made big plays and big blocks late in the game that really impressed.

People will remember when he snuffed out he screen to Peterson, but Ellerbe had a good game overall too and he might be the best of the young LBs trying to replace Bart.

You also have to give credit to Demetrius for coming off the bench cold and finally doing something right this year.

Biggest positive is that we have finally defined our team - Pass first to setup the run. Flacco and Ray Rice are the best things to have happened to this team since we drafted Ray Lewis

In the 4th qtr the Ravens played with heart as if was the last game of their careers.
