Need Computer Help!

10 posts in this topic

Ok, so I'm pretty much in the dark when it comes to computers lol. So anyway, I'm using Chrome on my laptop and suddenly I can't connect I just keep getting this message that says "Error 0 net ok" I tried to uninstall it, then install it again but it didn't work at all. So I decided to just download Mozilla Firefox but I'm having pretty much the same problem with that too! I was able to connect to Internet Explorer for a few weeks, but now I can connect to that either.

Has anyone had this problem before? What did you do to fix it?

any help would be very much appreciated!!!!!!!!!

I suck at computers but the spouse is well paid computer geek says it sounds like a virus. We had a worm hit our system yesterday with all the security bells and whistles and he was up until 3 am getting it all fixed.

Try running Chrome with the command line switch: --winhttp-proxy-resolver
The default proxy resolver seems to have changed between versions 2 and 3 from Win HTTP to V8. This switch sets it back to the one that works in version 2.

I don't use Chrome much, so bear with me....

In the Under The Hood tab, I dont remember exactly what its called, something like Change Proxy Settings, then go to LAN settings. That should be where you can select the option "use automatic configuration script".
Restart the browser and you should be good to go.

If that doesn't do it and you cant get online using other browsers, then you have some sort of malware. Run a virus scan (assuming you run Windows since you mentioned IE).

Thanks very much I will try that. I have scanned my computer several times for viruses and haven't found anything at all.

Have you tried to stop looking at porn? That usually helps get rid of viruses...I've heard.
