Week 6 – Baltimore Ravens At Minnesota Vikings

Hauschka chokes inside of a dome, i.e., perfect "weather" conditions... how in the world can we trust him to make a meaningful kick (or any kick for that matter) in Pittsburgh or Green Bay in Nov. and Dec.?

The BYE week is going to help a lot in terms of getting the focus back in our team. But you cant doubt that even though we lost, we played some really really good football, i mean the stats alone are good. Even though we are behind in our division, i believe we still have the chance to get the division title. But damn i wanted the Viks to lose, now its just going to make it harder for the Bears, damnit!

WHY not take shots downfield!!!! Pretty much a rookie kicker trying to kick a game winner in a hostile Metrodome are u insane Harbaugh?!?!? screw this
shots down field? the didnt have a timeout, so the outside is completely covered. you have to expect your kicker to make a 44 yarder. and harbs doesnt call the plays, so dont try and blame him. even still, it wasnt the playcalling on the last drive, just horrible excecution on the kick. plain and simple.

you gotta love Joe's drives though, its just that stupid playcall...why why why why run....
i liked the run. again, if you cant make a 44 yard kick in a dome in the NFL theres something wrong. theres a big difference between a 47-48 yarder and a 44. they didnt have a timeout. they completely took away everything outside the numbers. if they complete a pass over the middle the clock runs out - game over. that was PERFECT playcalling. give yourself a chance to win on a kick under 45 yards with 2 seconds on the clock

Also, Ray Rice if you want to celebrate thats fine with me. But dont act like a flippin idiot and highstep into the endzone! Did you not see Dre Bly do the same thing last week?!
Since when can't you celebrate the way you want after dusting the defense the way he did. Give me a break.

I'm curious to find out if Mattison went into the "Prevent" Defense that last drive, considering all it does is prevent the team employing it from winning...

Well, it turned out to be a good game after all. Good come back on both the offense and defense. If only we had Stover back..

Why? so everyone can cry when we get sacked or turn the ball over??

Asking your kicker to make a 44 yarder indoors isnt exactly unreasonable.

I'm still trying to figure out where Ed Reed has been late in games... I thought he and Ray Ray were "closers" :34853_shakehead:

I still love him of course, but he has not shown up at all.

Realistically, he had to have made a kick eventually to lose a game for us -- Stover's done it before, as has every other kicker in the league. Better for him to get that monkey off his back now, in a game against an NFC opponent without immediate playoff ramifications, in a perfectly controlled environment (where he had no real excuse to miss), than for him to be placed in a high-pressure, hugely-consequential situation with a lot on the line, with bad weather conditions to blame.

We all knew this would've happened eventually. But like I said, far better for it to happen now than later.

And keep in mind, as stated, this is an NFC opponent -- no immediate consequences other than to the W/L record. Won't have any likely tiebreaker ramifications. I appreciate the furious comeback attempt, and this is now the third game in a row lost in the last minute -- just means that the team needs to find a way to finish. Better to be in this position going into the bye week, than be left with nothing more to play for.

We were 3-3 last year...
And those three consecutive losses were on the road in OT to the Steelers, at home in the last minute to the Titans, and a blowout on the road to the Colts. If anything, these three losses this season are "better" than last year's, as they've been close games to reasonably good teams in adverse conditions.

At home against the Bengals is an adverse condition?

After giving up so many yards and still being within a possession in the game, sadly, yes. :(

Looking back, he just scored td after td's easily. If we play like that everyday from here on out, we look to be in good shape.

I'm a big Vikings fan but I'm not here to gloat. I'm here to say how proud I am of Ray Rice, being a fellow Rutgers grad as he. I just wish he didn't do it against my team. But I'm surprised they haven't used Ray more since he joined the Ravens. I root for the Ravens all the time (except when they play the Vikes of course), cause I love for them to knock off the stillers.

They are like the Vikings of the AFC- purple, tough defense.

I am also forever grateful to the Ravens for knocking off the giants in the superbowl, whom I cannot stand.

your team has a lot of heart, refusing to give up even when down by 17 with 10 minutes left. Maybe we'll have ourselve a purple super bowl?

Good luck rest of the year folks.

I laughed when I read "late game heroics by Favre" on ESPN.

What? It was a pass interference call, how does that get attributed to Favre?
Same exact thing with me. The front page on nfl.com really? I mean, not even mentioning Flacco who prabably had the comeback of his life and what they want to talk about is Favre who only showed up in the 1st quarter? It's the media, and it's hard not to listen.

Rice still made the catch tho even if the PI call wasn't there the receiver still beat his man, which happens alot with us.when we are aggressive we get called, but yeah Favre did what he is known to do brought his team back,Joe will do the same thing,he did it today but the pieces didnt fall into place

Can I come back to the game thread, and have a redo kick?

It's good! The Ravens win the game in an amazing come back. The crowd is silent. (Living my dream)

What?

Thats what good QBs' do, take their team down for the winning score.
The only diffence today is the Vikings made their field goal.

Well thats what happens when you lose the game.

No one cares about the loser. Favre's team won so he deserved the credit.

Last I checked, Losses can never be "good" things... no matter how close they were.

Even worse is that if not for a missed FG, Favre's "heroics" are moot!

Thank you for not being a jerk, and thanks for the support. I guess I can say it was a great game besides the fact that the Ravens lost. They showed a ton of pride at the end to all most pull up a upset. Hope you beat the Steelers next week, it will be much appreciated.

Did anyone else see Percy Harvin's pick on Fabian on the Viks second TD? I knew the refs wouldnt call it because we are the Ravens, but that was illegal.

Oh,I thought the adverse conditions were related to the other team... The Titans were undefeated (what a difference a year makes) we were on the road against the defending divisional champs, and a perennially elite team that has historically made us look silly.

But the Ravens deficiencies were the conditions you were talking about...
