The next time we play them we should be able to win against the viks...Harvin may be fast but he still makes rookie mistakes...

We need to be more concerned with Harvin returning kicks than as a receiver IMO. He is the leading KR in the league if I'm not mistaking. Our coverage team will have a challenge containing him, much like the way we struggle against Sproles.

If he has a weakness it would be that he's not all that big. Then again, you can't be that fast and big too. As with many things, discipline is how you keep him in check. When you go to tackle him, watch and tackle the hips, wrap with both arms, and gang tackle.

Because he's so electrifying I would say his weakness is water, and the love of a strong woman.

He had big return for a TD against the 9ers but he actually hasn't returned kicks or punts consistently since high school. He's has the speed and has some good bulk too but he's no Josh Cribbs returning the ball(yet).

Where Harvin scares me is in the slot. That's just another of the many reasons why Chris Carr CANNOT see the field as the nickel this Sunday. Either Walker or Webb who are more physical need to be covering Harvin.

I agree, I'm getting sick of seeing Chris Carr get beat or resort to committing a penalty. Where is the Chris Carr we saw play well for the Titans in the past?

Carr played well as a return-man but was he ever a good nickel? I remember him picking off Roethlisberger back in '06 and taking it 100 yards but has he ever been a good nickel?

If we shutdown Ochocinco then we can shutdown Harvin!
[/quote]

The Ravens didn't shut down Chad Johnson. He actually a good game.

He's actually 4th in kick returns - he had one KR for a 101 yd. TD. He doesn't return punts, but Minny has 2 punt returners, WRs Jaymar Johnson and Darius Reynaud, and they're 2nd & 3rd in the NFL in punt returning...

BTW - Despite only 3 Kick Returns, Lardarius Webb is 3rd in the NFL in KR average... and Chris Carr is 28th.

The more returns Webb gets, the lower his average will be but at this point, he's better than Carr.

He is a good player, and makes big plays. He is currently listed as questionable for the game, so maybe he wont even play.

I hope he doesn't but I don't want to see Chris Carr covering Greg Lewis either.

The thing that surprised me about Harvin is his physicality. He's not a big guy but he plays big and strong. I've seen him truck a few guys and do some nice stiffarms. It's almost not fair when you combine that with his speed.

I don't want to see Chris Carr cover anyone... and he probably won't.

I'm not a huge fan of him but he's actually really built for his height.

i like to call him pillowz but i know that he will have a good game in the slot because carr will be on the field getting used like a dirty diapher. i dont know that webb would be the answer considering that we have never really seen him play cb in a real game. i do feel walker is a upgrade over carr though. i hope that on sunday we see a ravens team ready to play other wise its going to be a tough long season.

I know what you mean about Webb but he showed in college and pre-season, he's aggressive which is the complete opposite of Carr. I know aggressiveness will only get you so far but Webb has some talent too. Also, Carr is listed at 5'10, 180 lbs. but Webb looks bigger than him in my opinion.

Also, like everyone here, I'm looking for a win on Sunday but if the Ravens go out and play an incredible game but come up short for whatever reason, I don't think the team is "in for a long season". The team was 2-3 last year and look what happened?

im saying were in for a long season because we are not learning from our mistakes.i dont feel that there is a team in the league that we cant beat. i just dont feel that the coachs are learning from the mistakes of personal on the field.

i would love to see what webb can do but i dont see him getting the chance just like kruger.

I guess so. Listening to Cam today, I think he's learning(albeit slowly). He's in tough spot though. The ball can only be spread around so much. If the team loses and Mason, McClain or McGahee don't get enough touches, people complain.

As for Mattison, I really don't know.

With Webb, the coaches HAVE to make a difference with the way Carr has played so far. If they don't, something is wrong.

OMG - Harbs must be aware of this stat. Hopefully, this will influence his game this sunday.
