David Tyree Signing With Ravens

Just heard on the Bruce Cunningham show that Tyree has cancelled his scheduled workout with the Tampa Bay Bucs and will sign with the Ravens. I am guessing for special teams play mostly.

It's a special teams move. I've been impressed with Webb's hustle as a gunner on punt coverage. He and Tyree should be very effective.

With everyone unable to get open in the Bengals game, I am hoping to see him streaking down the sidelines with the ball in his hands. Forget ST's.

i hear he is pretty good on ST
Hopefully we Cut Tony Curtis to make room for him

Bring in the Cry-baby! Atleast he'll get the opportunity to catch plenty of passes. We could give him a Braylen Edwards experience. Atleast our expectation will increase from where they are right now. But,ooooohh well! We mite as well keep the unit we have instead of makin that move

Mark Zeno from Scott and Anita show just reported the same thing. Tyree is on his way back to Baltimore to sign. I think it is a great move. He will definately help on Special Teams. Im not sure who he will be bumping off the roster, my guess is D. Williams.

Matt Flynn just talked about Demetrius Williams not being deactivated which could allow for someone else to move in. Williams doesn't play special teams so the team usually has to activate someone to play special teams. With Tyree now, hopefully that "someone" is Kruger.

If D Williams is deactivated, I would assume Tyree would be active so no available spot created there.

Well, we need dpeth at Corner more. I don't know where he'll play, Washington seems solid so far

 Tyree is a WR, not a CB.

I think he'll be a good addition to special teams since Brendon went down. Good move to help our streaky ST.

They would be able to deactivate a player like Ellerbe and play Kruger. As good as Ellerbe has been, do you really need him, Gooden AND McClain to try and replace Bart Scott?

Shutup - Mason is going to be a Pro Bowler, Clayton is coming around as a solid number two, Washington is a big sleeper, and Williams has all the tools!

I just don't understand Ozzie... this move makes no sense. Maybe he's a replacement for BA on Special Teams? Didn't we just re-sign Burgess though? Is this the end of the D-Will experiment?

This forum is bizarre. The signing of David Tyree means the thread about free agent wide receivers gets locked? Is David Tyree the next coming of Randy Moss or is he more likely a bubble active list player on game day? I'll go with the latter. Whoever makes the decisions to lock threads on this forum doesn't use very good judgment.

David Tyree is a decent signing for a receiver poor team but he won't contribute much to your team. There is still plenty of room for WR talk but not in this thread.

Ozzie's having a tough year this year.
1) Trade's Burgess to Patriots, he tells them what he knows, then we resign him.
2) Had complete faith in D-Will to be the deep threat for our team during the offseason.
3) (My Pet Peeve) Drafted Kruger 3 spots ahead of Sean Smith. When CB was an obvious area of concern for the team.

Marshall trade was never going to happen. People seem to forget there are two sides to a trade. This isn't Madden where you just bring up the trade screen and all you have to do is fool the crappy AI into giving you what you want.

Boldin and Marshall aren't possibilities, we're going to have to wait for next year's draft for a WR, unless our WR corps breaks out. That's not even the issue though, we aren't running the football enough.

Is Smith that monster Phins CB? Guy is like 6'2 and a beast. Ozzie sure likes his LB's but it sure is hurting that we dodn't take a big physical CB in the draft if you ask me. Our depth at LB is sound and Kruger has been riding the bench all year so far.

The Fins have Vontae Davis as a rookie CB not Sean Smith
Davis was their first round pick. Smith was their 2nd rounder.

The fins have two rookie CBs which they swap starting duties. Vontae and Sean Smith. IMO Sean Smith is looking better than Davis.

You'll see me bring this up a million times. We could've used Smith at times this season, especially going up against the tall receivers everybody's afraid of.

So the solution was to do nothing at all?

I can't speak for Bullrush, but even if Boldin and Marshall weren't "possibilities," we still needed to do something, and the fact is that our big offseason move was to sign Kelly Washington.

It was a pipedream to think that Mason/Clayton/Williams/Washington would miraculously turn into a cohesive unit.

I realize that a few of the wide receivers in Baltimore, and some guys on the practice squad (Riley/Smith/etc.), have nice "potential," but again, every single wide receiver has that potential as it is the nature of their position to be quick and make big plays.

The fact is that receivers have the highest burnout rate in the NFL, and we're going through Travis Taylor part deux with Clayton right now with no "plan B."

What are we going to do next year? Draft another wide receiver and watch him not pan out as well? Why don't we just trade for a proven wide receiver as we clearly cannot produce our own? Yes, we would take a cap hit, lose a quality player, or have to fork over a draft pick, but you can't have everything, and with our wide receivers right now, we have nothing anyway.

The team felt bringing in a more experienced corner(Foxworth) was better. You can't say they were wrong yet either.

Uhhh, the Phins selected 2 CB's in rounds 1 & 2 of the draft. Yes they did grab Vontae, but they also (let me research....) did select....

Round 2 (61) - Sean Smith, CB, Utah– 6’4”, 214 lbs., born July 17, 1987

Big guy, finesse player, but may be lacking on the hit and tackle end of things. May need some work before he is ready. In his last two seasons, he totaled nine interceptions and 15 pass breakups.

6'4 - JESUS Ozzie!
