but the lions were also w/o calvin johnson, thats why I threw that little tid bit out there :P
With the way the Lions have been under-utilizing Calvin Johnson this year, with him or without I still like any sub-average defense playing against the Lions. Same goes for the Rams and Tampa Bay.

Don't see how Calvin is being under-utilizing when he was leading the team in targets and even gets rushing attempts. He is just injured right now.

Anyways.

Looks like I'm forced to sit Chad since he is playing Ravens this weekend. Check to see if Santana Moss is available in your leagues. He is in available in 3 of mine. He is going against a poor falcons secondary and as we saw with the MNF 7 receptions 74 yds against the 10th rated Eagles Defense, Sherm Lewis wants to get him the ball.

Under-utilizing is bad wording on my behalf. They aren't utilizing him based on what he's great at. Going Deep. When you get the ball to Calvin deep he will score touchdowns. That's what he does, that's why he's Megatron. He makes big plays. He's not Wes Welker.

Minus the Pittsburgh game this year he is averaging 16.6 ypc. Last year at this time (minus the horrendous Bears game) he was averaging 26.6 ypc. That's a 10-yard average difference.

Last year he had his long catch of the day go for a TD 47, 96, 29, 70, 33 yarders. This year he has yet to record his long catch of the day as a TD.

They are targeting more this year, yes. And I like what they are doing. But he's not producing the same TD numbers because they aren't sending him deep enough. When the Lions do get in the Redzone - defenses are locking down Calvin. And 1 TD on this season, I wouldn't be too happy with it.

This is a combination of things. A rookie QB, new head coach, no Roy Williams to help coverage and his increased status as deep threat to command better coverage.

If we had Calvin on our team would be utilizing him like Mason? We'd be sending this boy deep every play. Spread the offense. Let Mase and Clayton command underneath.

Pick 2 (unless you think a 3rd would be able to out score matt ryan or alex smith)

Desean Jackson
Calvin Johnson
Marques Colston
Donald Driver
Mario Manningham

(I'm thinking Jackson and Colston, but idk, Johnson is due for a big game, and Driver has been pretty consistant)

in another league

Pick 3

Desean Jackson
Calvin Johnson
Marques Colston
Vincent Jackson
Devery Henderson
(This one I'm feeling V.Jackson, D.Jackson, idk how I feel about Colston (going up against the #1 pass Defense) and Johnson is starting and playing seahawks

For Both:
Calving Johnson
Marques Colston

If C Johnson in there, you have to start him. Especially against a banged up D in Seattle. Marques is playing like a #1 guy lately, and is consistent.

You could make excellent arguments for
DeSean Jackson
Donald Driver

DeSean always looks good, but I hate trusting home run hitters. Donald Driver should put up decent stats.

Vincent Jackson has to go on an East coast trip against a hungry Giants team. They should be forced to throw. But I expect the Giants D line to get major pressure.

Predictions are tough. I did like Donald Driver. Who did you end up starting in both?

I'm glad you have a strategy with my selections.I started Calvin Johnson as well. But luckily Mike Sims-Walker and Dallas Clark made up for it.

I was thinking. Seattle has a bang up D. Seattle will probably go up early. Detroit will be forced to throw. Calvin's been well rested. He looked frustrated out there.

So far 2 of the biggest disappointments for me have been calvin johnson and matt forte... they have also been my top 2 picks

in my espn league I started
Desean Jackson
Vincent Jackson
Marques Colston

V.Jackson led them with 17 points... D. Jackson has 2 as of now, Colston had 4...

Calvin Johnson had a total of 2 in that league

in my yahoo league I started

Desean Jackson
Marques Colston

D. Jackson as of now has 4 in that league,
and Colston had 5

I wish I had started Driver in that game.. 19 points.... I also heard something about him being rogers' favorite target too.... just a note

Yeah I benched Calvin (2 points) and OchoCinco (4 points) and started Crabtree (3 pts) and Santana Moss (4 pts). So yeah, 1 point differential w00t.

As for Seattle Defense, I picked them up this week and are starting them. They do have some veteran cornerbacks. And with a rookie QB on the lions throwing the ball. High probability of a pick six. Plus what do you have to lose? The Rams only let the Lions score 10 points last week.
At least I can feel good about this pick. Seattle started off poorly but then went on to intercept the rook 5 times including a game-sealing pick 6. I did say a "High Probability" of a pick six.

Seahawks DST - 20 PA, 300 YDS, DTD (61), 5 Int, 2 SACK - 22 FFP

So my star QB (Schaub) is on a bye this week. I'm in a deep QB league and my original backup was Shaun Hill (Who was very serviceable) but he's long gone.

So I've hoarded all the remaining QBs on waivers. Take your pick as to who I should start while Schaub is at home watching football.

Chad Henne vs. Tampa Bay
Josh Freeman vs Miami
Trent Edwards vs. Tennessee

I know, not looking to pretty. Who do you think has the best chance of throwing at least one touchdown? I'm in first place and would like to keep it that way.

I would say edwards or henne..... do not underestimate miami's pass rush jason taylor has the most recovered fumbles for a TD... and then they play tampa.... who well.... isn't good to put it nicely, but the knock and plus is that miami has that dynamic running game..... edwards has the receiving corps of lee evans and terrell owens... (owens whom has not really done anything this year) but idk how the titans D has really looked.... short answer I'd go with either henne or edwards... with me leaning slightly toward henne... but you couldn't go wrong with edwards either...

on a side note according to fabiano's player rankings this week

henne is #20
freeman is #21
edwards is #24

Yea I want to go with Henne. But you have to wonder how much wildcat will be played in this game. Miami loves to leave the ball on the ground.

They all have their crutches though. Henne - Wildcat, Edwards - coming off injury, Freeman - rookie.

I'd go with Henne. He's got an arm, speedy receiver (who cant catch the ball) in Ginn, Camrillo, Bess, Fasano and a favorable matchup in Tampa Bay. But then again, Tennessee has the worst pass D in the league.

Should I bench Mike Sims-Walker for Mike Wallace this week?

Sims-Walker will be playing against the Jets' Revis. Plus Jacksonville's passing game struggles when away from home. They play in New York. Or do I continue to play Sims-Walker as a must start?

I'm gonna go on a limb and say bench him.... revis shut guys like Randy Moss and Andre Johnson down.... and is one of the best corners in the league..... sims-walker has def been a gem this year but he really isn't able to be mentioned in the same breath as them (no offense to him at all)

wallace is somewhat inconsistant... however I think pitts will be leaning towards throwing it more

I would say Wallace(and I feel like a sinner for it).... but you gotta take in the human factor when playing in the divisional games...

however, fabiano has sims-walker rated as the 19th best WR for the week.. while wallace is 31st

All right Reddawn. Another question. I've got a lot of them this week.

Brian Westbrook vs. San Diego
Kwoshen Moreno vs. Wash

I'm leaning towards Westbrook. A bit hesitant because who knows how much of a workload he'll get. But he'll be playing the soft run D of San Diego.

hmm to me this one is tricky...

part of me wants to say westbrook.... but andy reid loves to abandon the run..... thats why they lose to the bad teams alot... is your league PPR?

I don't fully trust moreno either.. not this year anyway, I'd probably say westbrook(especially if its PPR), but Westbrook isn't the same player..

It's a ppr league. Even though eagles love to pass , they do love screen passes.

I hate non ppr leagues

I wouldn't bench Manning. Patriots vs New England always is high scoring. Brady will be throwing like crazy since the Colts secondary is banged up and their running game is injured.

So Manning will be throwing as well.
