Who To Start And Who To Sit

167 posts in this topic

So this is only my 2nd year in FF and this is the first auction league I have ever done but I am off to a great start 5-0 (the only team 5-0). I am in quite a strange spot and not really sure who to start. keep in mind that this is a 16 team league.
we also get points for kick off and PR yards
I can either do 2RB and 2WR or 1RB and 3WR
here are my options:
ray rice @ MIN
sproles @ DEN
Donnie avery @ JAC
D Bowe @ WAS
D Driver @ DET
ochocinco @ HOU
Welker @ TEN

I am thinking rice, sproles, Bowe, and Driver.
dont really like the match up with sproles and DEN but the return yards really help out and hes been so good for me this year I just dont think I can sit him.

I dont know, what do you guys think.

I would have Welker as a MUST start (especially in a PPR league) against a weak TEN secondary. I would probably also start Ochocinco before I would Bowe. Looks like he and Carson are clicking again.

you make a great point. it isnt PPR but either way what your saying is exactly what I was thinking vs. what I posted.
I really do like driver vs DET esp comming off a bye.

any other opinions would be great thanks.

just for a heads up I would start welker, ocho, and driver and 1 of those RB's... mainly due to the fact that they are both playing some of the best Defenses in the league

all i can say is thats a great dilemma to be in.

i'd probably go with rice, sproles, ochocinco, and welker

i think its always best to start a RB over a WR when you have the option simply because how many touches they get.. rice could just as easily have as many catches as any of your WRs, plus the rushing yards

Allright tough bye week for me in a really deep league. WR's are thin. Start 2 of these. Which one's would you go with?

Earl Bennett @ Cincinnati
Mike Wallace vs. Minnesota
Laverneus Coles vs. Chicago

Here are the top five free agent WRs in our league. Isaac Bruce is tempting. But I don't think he's better than any of my three guys listed above.
Camarillo, Greg
Burton, Keenan
Bruce, Isaac
Jenkins, Michael
Meachem, Robert

Overall I'm leaning towards Earl Bennett & Mike Wallace. I do have Bowe, he's a given for this week.

I have this dilemma for Week 8:

Matt Forte vs Cleveland
Maurice Jones-Drew vs Tennessee
Ray Rice vs Denver

Who do I sit? Rice and MJD are getting it done, but Matt Forte seems so overdue to explode it's not funny and the Browns run defense is just awful...

If Matt Forte can't get it done against Cleveland. He might as well leave the NFL. He's got the best matchup of the three. It's a great decision to have here. By matchup its Forte, but the brain says go with Jones-Drew and the heart says Rice.

I'm sticking with Matt Forte. It's now or never for him.

the safe bet would be rice and mjd... however forte has the potential to put up more points, but then again against the browns they would probably show off jay cutler...

me personally if stuck there I might throw forte in a flex position if its a Rb/WR/Te or any combo of those.. depending on who your WR's are, I think I would go with rice and MJD cause Rice is a game breaker, and forte well if this was his what his career holds.. he's a bust

pick 2 por favor, I think I have an Idea but not 100% sure, other opinions would help

Ray Rice (vs Denver)
Ricky Williams (@ Jets)
Frank Gore (@ Indy)
Darren Sproles (vs Oak)

I'm thinking Rice and Williams, what do you guys think... god why does benson have to be on bye :(

I like Rice and Williams as well.

Leave Sproles out - he relies too much on the one big play. Gore you could make an argument for. But the Colts could go up early forcing the 49ers to pass, much like last week against the Texans.

first loss in the league where I didn't start Frank gore... doesn't matter though they have 2 players left.... and if I did start frank gore I would be up 78-73

I have only roddy white left

he has Reggie Bush and Drew Brees..

instead I'm down 73-65, and I doubt Roddy White is going to out score drew brees

M. Forte - 90 RuYd, 2 RuTD (1,10), 31 ReYd, 2 Recpt - 26 FFP
R. Rice - 84 RuYd, RuTD (7), 24 ReYd, 5 Recpt - 21 FFP
M. Jones-Drew - 177 RuYd, 2 RuTD (80,79), -4 ReYd, Recpt - 30 FFP

Well you couldn't really go wrong with any of these choices. But in a PPR league and non PPR league - Jones takes the cake. But at least Forte lived up to the easy matchup.

Rice and Williams it is. Sproles wasn't able to hit that homerun play that keeps him fantasy relevant.

Whoops. Missed that he was in the conversation too. I copied my reply and I didn't mention Gore.

F. Gore - 91 RuYd, RuTD (64), 43 ReYd, 5 Recpt - 24 FFP

Gore and Rice. That's a tough one to swallow. The points difference is pretty large. 29 to 45 between the two different sets.

started fitzgerald, boldin, and arizona's defense last week.. needless to say, it wasn't pretty...

welp, cheers to week 9..

pick 2:
J. Addai - HOU
P. Thomas - CAR
R. Grant - TB

also, you guys think Seattle's defense is actually worth a play this week at home against the Lions?

I would say Thomas and Grant, Carolina's Pass Defense is ranked number 1 in the league... but their Run D is much much worse, the colts are playing houston, so this ends one of 2 ways, colts losing, or pretty much being a little pass happy.... and tampa... well they are the lions of yesteryear

depends if the lions have calvin johnson, and who your other D is/ what other D is available... it might be worth a try

I'm with RedDawn on this one. Thomas & Grant. Grant & Thomas have great matchups this week.

I don't like Addai because Houston has actually been decent at shutting down runners inside the tackles. Plus a Houston - Colts game has a feel for a shootout, doesn't it?

As for Seattle Defense, I picked them up this week and are starting them. They do have some veteran cornerbacks. And with a rookie QB on the lions throwing the ball. High probability of a pick six. Plus what do you have to lose? The Rams only let the Lions score 10 points last week.
