Merged: Matt Stover Signs With the Colts

35 posts in this topic

If I heard correctly on Monday Night Countdown just now, it seems that Indy might be bringing in Stover to kick while Adam Vinatieri gets his knee looked at. Didn't see that coming. Hell, I didn't even realize Adam was having a knee issue. Oh well, he goes from Baltimore to the former Baltimore team.

I thought I heard it in passing, too. I'll mark this as a rumor until it's confirmed, but I sorely hope it stays a rumor -- even though I wish Stover continued success, regardless.

It was mentioned on Monday Night Countdown earlier. Apparently, Vinatieri is having his knee (?) looked at, and they're potentially bringing in Matt Stover to kick until he's back.

They mentioned on the Monday countdown show that the colts may workout Matt Stover. If true, good for him. If he can still kick (and I think he can), he deserves to keep playing. However, if they were to pick him up before the Colts/Ravens game, that would be a little strange.

What if when we play them, Stover kicks a game winning TD?

Do you mean FG? But if he did, it would indeed add insult to injury regarding the whole Baltimore/Indy relationship.

I will cry... well no, I won't, but I'll be very sad. :(

Honestly, I expect the Colts game to be like most Ravens vs Colts games... which means it wouldn't be decided by a field goal. :th_shame:

Honestly, I would be sick to my stomach to see Stover play for Indy. :(

Agreed. I feel like vomiting just thinking about it. I heard it today on the radio, Jim Rome show maybe? The football Gods wouldn't do this to us, would they? :34853_doh:

Just got word from Mike Duffy's Twitter account that Stover has signed with the Colts.

I remember that in the 2006 AFC Championship that Indy managed to win by kicking field goals, are we going to see a repeat of that on November 22?

I'm not surprised... but it is going to look very weird to see him in a Colts uniform. I wish him nothing but the best (except if he's kicking against us).

Just wanted to get a sense for what other fans feel about Stover signing with the Colts.

Ever since the Ravens put Stover on their speed dial instead of in camp I thought we might be in trouble with our kicking game. A lot of fans had lengthy debates over this topic.

I for one am glad the way things have turned out. I think Haushka will be a good replacement for Stover. As far as our All Time Leading Scorer, I am glad he has been given the oportunity to continue his career. I only wish it was not with the Colts. I will never get over it! I think you know what I mean by "it".

I'm not surprised that Stover signed and at this point I really don't care. I wish him the best in Indy but when they face the Ravens, I'm going to hope every kick he attempts is either blocked or misses.

I doubt he will kick against us, I think this is only a few games deal goijng.

They're saying 4-8 weeks. The Ravens host the Colts 6 weeks from Sunday (Nov. 29th)...

Would be interesting.

Great for Matt. Love to see him get some more points to add to his legacy. Perhaps *very long shot* he'll go into the HOF as a Raven.

Watch him kick two 50 yard field goals and a game-winning kick against us. Can't say I'd hate him.

One of my favorite players. Very cool and classy. Definition of "clutch".

I am surprised it took this long for him to get signed.

Karma is a son of a gun.

Stover kicks the game winner when Indy comes to town.
