Damn, I thought I knew my football. I had absolutely no clue that Sidney Rice was 6'4. Wikipedia has him at 6'6. This could pose to be a huge problem.

He's 6'4" and can leap out of the building. He lacks breakaway speed but is a solid route runner and uses his large frame to shield the ball from defenders and his ups and timing to out-jump defenders on jump balls and fade routes. He had a disappointing injury filled season last year but really is coming on this season, his third in the league.

Why are you so confidant about that? Do you forget he played in the frozen tundra for 16 years?
Because Old People's joints die in the cold. We aren't in Kansas anymore Toto. And Favre isn't 30 anymore.

The last two season. His last 5 games of each he threw 16 INTS. Like I said enjoy the wins while you still can.

We're toast...

We're going into the bye on a three game losing streak. If we can't beat the hapless Bangles and they are hapless, we have no chance against the Vikings.
Puh-leez.

I see us knocking them on their asses. Their defense DOES NOT match up very well against our offense, and that is going to show.

I hope this turns into a shootout. Favre will be good for at least two picks and one lame-****** interview afterwards.

You guys need to remember who the Ravens are. This team is going places, whether you're onboard or not.

I'm just curious as to how you think we are going to knock them on their asses. I can't really see us running on them very succesfully. Do you think we have the advantage of our Receivers vs their Secondary? I really hope it turns into a shootout with us coming out on top, also looking for a couple picks from the OLD MAN.

Perhaps the way to wear down their physical dline is to change RBs every 2 or 3 plays. Change of pace with McClain, Rice and Willis
The Vikings use a steady and frequent rotation of players to keep everyone fresh. Only Allen and Kevin Williams stay on the field for almost every play. The backup linemen the Vikings employ are all pretty decent players and get in on quite a few plays. While a steady does of running for 4 quarters will wear any unit down that hasn't happened yet.

Brett is going to have a field day with our secondary and lord knows what going to happen if AP breaks past Ray, Suggs and the boys.

Honestly... Ray Ray need to kick that secondary in the ******.. They play with no heart. Tired of seeing these over paid Millionares not doing their job...

TOP will be key in this game. Keep Favre and Peterson (and our defense) off the field as much as possible. Three and outs won't work. That has to mean run more effectively and stay out of three and longs when Allen can tee off on Flacco. The formula has always been the same; control the clock and don't turn the ball over. The formula for losing this game will be failing to control the clock and letting Favre stay on the field against our secondary.

While it's true the Vikings don't have a marquee receiver keep in mind that with Favre the ball gets spread around to everyone. Percy Harvin is always a threat where ever he lines up. Bernard Berrian is starting to come on after a slow start. Sidney Rice is having the best year of his career and even players like Greg Lewis can look world-class when Favre is on. Vishante Shiancoe is a fantastic receiving TE and Chester Taylor is Favre leading receiver right now. The Vikings passing game is dangerous not because of whose catching the balls but because Favre is playing like he's 32 not 40.

...and the Vikings will be in their road whites so your gambling lacks the prescience you were hoping for.
Im not sure ive ever seen the Vikings wear road whites at home, where did you hear this at?

I think this will be a fun game anyways, 2 good defenses, but I smell some points in this one.

I can see us stopping AP, and maybe keeping Favre from going all out on us.

Their defense is going to tear our offense apart though, and their offense will make enough plays to win.
Yeah, I am also worried about their D. Did you see Jared Allen(sp?) last week. dude continues to be a monster. Also, AP > Benson, so I'm a little worried about that. I do believe that the run D was an anomaly last week.

I agree with everything you said. The interior of the o-line is very strong but running could be tough with the Williams Wall but I firmly believe screens and draws will be successful.

His interviews Suck!!!! Much worst than Rex's last night. I think it will be a Battle of the O-lines. They'll determine the outcome in my opinion. The one who bends more..that team will obviously lose the game

Hello all, new poster.
Defensively I believe we match up pretty well vs the vikings. We can match up with their speed receivers on the outside as long as they don't make any mental errors on play action.
It all comes down to stopping peterson early. I feel like any time a running back does well early vs the Ravens, they continue to keep doing well. But if we shut down the run early hopefully it will stray them away from it. Keep in mind Peterson does have fumble problems so if he lets one slip early it could get into AP's head like in the GB/Min game.
I'm worried about Shiancoe as he is becoming more of a threat in the end zone for Min, and Baltimore doesn't really defend TE's very well.
Penalties definately have to be kept at a minimum and not be getting into the players heads. Those 3 and long conversions via penalties-those are the game changers where the Vikings could ride that momemtum for a score.
Offensively I believe Rice matches up well vs the vikings D as well. He's an elusive back who can be used in the passing game as well via screens to slow down the pass rush of JA and co. We need to get Heap involved more in the passing game, althought it might be tough with the Vikings pass rush.

Our secondary, with a little tweaking, can become more than a match for Favre and his hot streak this year.

As for AP - I want to see Suggs, Ngata, and Lewis rip him to shreds.

And as for the offense, I expect that we can dominate the Vikings' D with enough effort. They had a very close call with the 49'ers a few weeks ago. Their D is far from as good as their offense. Favre can make up for many mistakes they could make, unless our secondary can shut him down. If so - we should be able to move at least somewhat well against the Vikings' D.

What I want to know is who the team wants to cover the third receiver. The Vikes like to run a 3-receiver set in passing situations. Berrian and Rice line up on the outisde whiles Harvin is usually in the slot. Harvin is young but he will eat Carr alive if the coaches allow it to happen. Landry isn't quick or fast enough to stay with Harvin. I don't like Walker's "hands-on" style of coverage but he may be the perfect guy to slow down Harvin. Even Webb would be a decent option. Seriously though, I don't want to see Carr on the field Sunday unless it's returning the ball(I don't think he should be doing that either but the coaches probably won't deactivate him).

Yea I agree I wouldn't want to see Carr much on Harvin, or even on the field. What's killed the Ravens on 3rd and long situations is the quick passes to the flats, the sole reason is because we don't want to give up the big play so we leave the flats open when we blitz our lbs. We know Favre will take a few shots down the field so that is what I'm worried about the most as well ; how we handle the 3rd and long situations when the opportunity arises.
I agree that Walker would be a better option in slot if our pass rush can get to Favre. He covers well the first few seconds and then just doesn't have the speed to defend after that.

Even if we could stop Favre, what will we do about Adrian Peterson?
If i had to pick my poison, I would rather favre throw for 300yrds instead of peterson rushing for 100. And you know the 100 includes a TD. We havent been a good pass defensive team. But we take pride in stopping the run. I think its safe to say that we can win if favre picks us apart..Phillip Rivers Did,they still lost. When a back has a field day..its a completely different can of worms. When we completely shut down the run, it seems as though the chances of a victory is much greater. So, it would devastate me to see Peterson do what Cincy's bum did last sunday.

:argdancingravensblueonbvx4: To RAVENS NATION I think its still early in the game, in we have lost our last two games to better than average teams. But I believe now is the time to support our TEAM more than ever, 11 games left on a tuff schedule means the players will need the 12th man more and more each week. RAVENS PRIDE is needed! so let's stop pointing the finger at certain players (I STARTED WEAK LINKS)and realize this is our TEAM, we r very much still in the mix. (WE WIN 2GETHER,WE LOSE 2GETHER,RAVENS 4-LIFE)! Let's Go B-MORE.

Teams like New England, San Diego and Cincinnati pose a greater threat in the passing game in my opinion. Foxworth and Washington match up better with Berrian and Harvin than against Randy Moss or Vincent Jackson.

Everyone forgets, we were 2-3 this time last year....... We'll be fine! We cn go in there and get a win, it will be tough though! We can do it!

I def AGREE with u, 5 games never eliminated anyone in a season, but we do need better play on both sides of the ball, also SUPPORT is needed from (US the 12th man). :argdancingravensblueonbvx4:

I think the key to this game is going to come down to the containment of A.P. obviously. I think that our run D will do a great job if not just for the fact of having a chip on there shoulder for giving up the 100 yd. rushing record. There will probably be someone spying A.P. the entire game.

Our secondary should be able to cover there wide recievers in man to man with help over the top. I also think you will see a much larger role this week for Frank Walker in nickle situations. He has proven to be the better man for this position in my opinion.

Our D line should have pretty good success against them. They have given up 11 sacks so far this season. Mattison needs to find a way to game plan creatively. Harbaugh along with team leaders like Ray, need to enspire each other to get after it like this game is there last.

Hopefully Gaither will be back and our O line will be stout as ever. I know Jared Allen is a great pass rusher, and there D line does a pretty good job at run stopping. With that said I still believe the O line can win this battle.

I would like to see much more come from our run game this week. Perhaps utilize a double tight end set. Pound, pound and pound some more. The extra tight ends would help with run blocking and break open the play action. They could not stop the passing game over the middle with Heap and LJ.

My main concern comes from the short passing game of Minn. Brett is completing 69.1% of his passes most of which are short high percentage passes. We need our linebackers to bring their A game. You know after watching film this week their recievers are feeling that hit to Ocho. That hit may end up helping us in this game.

This is going to be a great matchup for the Ravens. I dont like the saying "must win game" but it would not be a good situation going into the bi week with 3 straight losses. I see the Ravens rebounding from their dissapointing losses from the past two weeks. I think they work out some kinks and get the job done.

Ravens win a close one 21-17. This game will not hinge on the refs. Penalties will not be an issue and next monday mornings coffee will taste a whole lot better than the last.

Peterson and Favre can both be turnover-prone. Ballhawking defence, this is your call to arms! Fumble recovery touchdown to Terrell Suggs. And another Ed Reed pick six!!!

look guys i am worried about this game to, but the vikings have not played anyone good yet. san fran and green bay are decent. jared gets 4.5 sacks against green bay and everybody is worried. we will be there first real team. they have yet to face a defense yet. we have had are up and downs but trust me our ravens have a chip on there shoulder after the last couple of weeks. regardless of what people think we should be 5-0. we have outplayed every team we played this year. last week was probably our worst performance i will agree to that but you take away those ridiculous flags at the end of the game and we win. it would have been a ugly win but a win is a win. i think the vikings are over rated. until they beat a real team then i will have a different opinion. rams, lions, browns dont count. we will get to favre. ray ray is going to pump up our defense.

Not so much commenting on post, more on the fact that when I see a name like bleeding purple I feel like im "home" very confusing hehe. I too bleed purple, and I want purple to win sunday! Skol Vikings!!! Yet this is our biggest test of "09" One team wants 6-0 very badly, the other wants to not be 3-3 badly, its gonna be evil.
