One Positive About The Way The Ravens Have Played...

18 posts in this topic

Is that now they fall back under the radar. Lets face it when this team isnt the underdog, they generally dont do very well. Our history speaks for itself. The pressure of being number 1 is gone and hopefully the ego's have been knocked down a notch. They'll be out of the media lime light where they get blinded and can get back to playing winning football.

Hopefully that happens. Although I won't be at the meetings, I'm glad the coaches will have a TON of film to review and mistakes to correct. To me, the team can only get better after a loss like this.

Its ridiculous to think that the Ravens play better as a team when nobody thinks their good. Media coverage of a team does not and should not affect how a team plays.

So, players dont get cocky and their ego's dont get bigger when they get compliments?

So teams that have consistently been good in this decade dont get media coverage and compliments? Pretty sure they call the Pats the team of the decade, Colts are a model of playoff consistency, Eagles have gone to 5 NFC champ games theyre always in the media projected as being good. Giants the last 4 years have been media darlings, they dont play like garbage or wilt under it. If your actually a good team, you dont need to play the we get no respect card EVERY year. You can play it once in awhile, but to play it yearly just means clearly your not as good as you think.

well this will make it that much sweeter when we beat the Bengals next time we meet them.

Haha, I said the same thing to my friend on the way to the subway station after the game. I aslo threw in the tidbit that we'd be beating them in their house next time.

Yeah after they get dusted on both sides of the ball next week in Minnesota they will be sitting comfy in third place with a bye week to think about how much they stink.

Media coverage doesn't help on defense. I hate to say it, and I know its early but the D is looking just like it did in 07.

One problem... I am talking about THE RAVENS. They historically play better when they are under the radar. Attribute it to what you want but you cant dispute that fact. If they have to be under the radar to win because they cant handle the pressure of being a media darling, I'll take it. I dont give a damn if it means they are not that good or not. I want to win.

lol dusted, i like the usage of that word there. The best part is next week Cam is going to try to run the ball right into the NFLs best rush defense the past 3 years, most likely going on 4 years.

More like 1997

And I don't personally like media coverage, but if this team straightens up and make the playofs like we all assume they will, It's not like ESPN and all them won't mention the fact were in the playoffs. God forbid if we made the Superbowl with all that coverage

I want to win too, but the us against the world only works when its actually us against the world. Everyone wanted Rays head in 2000 and his ****** in jail. Our team stood by Ray, and when Ray got booed and jeered and swore at in stadiums the team rallied behind it. The defense got meaner, tougher, and unforgiving that 2000 defense's mentality was unreal. They had that look because it really was that team, that defense against the world and all they had was each other. Billick milked that mentality all season long, and he was one of the better ones Ive seen. What does the rest of the world have against the Ravens now? They have to be under the radar to win, that means theyre not that good, not consistent and ultimately wont win many games.

Ahh, not sure I get your point, as the Ravens have never experienced being 'above the radar' or media darlings. They're always second guessed, even by their own media pool. So historically speaking, how can you base their success when under/above the radar when they've never been media darlings to begin with? Please explain, honestly curious.

Well not anymore

But I'll be honest. What I am tired of is this so called, "Flying under the radar" good luck, It's nonsense. Teams like the Giants, Broncos and the Colts don't need it. They get all the publicity and still manage to produce on the field. I'm tired of us looking like "the bad guys of football". I'm sick and tired of seeing penalty flags thrown our way, ESPECIALLY right after a 3rd down shutdown.

I mean it's frustrating. These guys need to get it together.
