J-man

Most Underrated Raven

28 posts in this topic

Which player do we never talk about, but without we would suffer in that position?

I think Trevor Pryce or Ben Grubbs.

League-wide, I would have to say JJ or Kelly Gregg are the most underrated Ravens

I think it depends who is doing the rating.
The casual fan would probably underate Derrick Mason.
The fantasy football types would underrate Ngata.
Ravens fans underrate JJ, and maybe Frank Walker, although I think he's growing on us.
Hardcore fans might underrate Ray Lewis, thinking just because he's getting old he's declined.

Kelly Gregg. Last game i saw him chance down The Pats RB from one side of the feild to the other, and he made the tackle. I was like holy crap that boy can move. After making the tackle he pulls his pants up real high, lmao, anyone else see he does that alot. :wootwoot:

If I can include non-players, I would choose Hue Jackson. I have always thought Cam was the reason for Flacco's development curve, but in an interview the other day Cam gave all of the crdit to Jackson. I know that Cam is a classy guy, but if that is true, then Hue Jackson is the most underrated man in the organization.

The only other guy who comes close is owner Steve Bischotti. It took a tremendous amount of "stones" to fire Brian Billick. Especially, after he had announced that he was coming back. That was the right thing to do and it raised the level of profesionalism through out the entire organization. That was HUGE!

If I had to pick one player who I think is under rated? HMMM? This would have to be someone who shows up week in and week out doing everything asked of him. Someone unselfish, and willing to sacrafice his mind and body. Someone who doesnt need the media attention. Someone who doesnt care about personel stats. This person would have to be clutch at any given moment. This would be someone who limits personel mistakes. This is an interesting question and with all of that Todd Heap comes to mind for me. This guy will sacrafice himself by going up for that arrant pass and come down with it for the first down. He also spent basically an entire season blocking to protect the man who can now rely on him no matter what. Yeah, I vote for Todd Heap

JJ is heavily underrated, his motor doesn't stop and he is a solid tackler. Kelly Gregg is another name that is heavily underrated, how many people know he is 2nd in tackles behind Ray for Ravens all time lead. On the offense I'd have to say Heap is underrated and NOBODY talks about Grubbs.

I'm going to go with Ben Grubbs. He hasn't gone to Pro Bowl and might not ever but he's been about as good a 1st round draft pick as you can get. I only remember him receiving one holding penalty and he seems to always get to the second level. Plus, almost all of the big runs by Ravens' RBs have come straight up the middle where he is. No one talks about him/

J.J., Gregg and Heap receive honorable mention.

wow i totally disagree kelley gregg is just ok he's not that strong in the trenches. I hear all these stories like he is a monster out there he's quick and has great fundamentals to get to ball carriers but he's no monster he's just ok. Then there is Jarrett. he to is good not great or even on the verge of being great. Sorry if you ask me these two are the weakest links. Why do
I find myself missing Jim leonard.

I'm gonna have to go with JJ.

I think Foxworth is kinda overrated, he has been our best secondary player so far. I expect him to get a lot better.

Seeing that Suggs is highly regarded throughout the NFL, and JJ has more sacks than Terrell... you have a good point.

I dont know about these statements! But, I havent been impressed with Trevor Price. JJ is cool. Kelly Gregg is back from injury. A few years ago, he was a lil Tony Saragusa. He'll get back in his groove though. It takes time!

If I HAD to pick a player and ONLY one, it would definitely be Jared Johnson. It is my opinion that he is ACTUALLY the Ravens BEST Defensive Player this year and PROBABLY last year too! No special stunts are run for him, but he still gets to the quarterback. He is the ONLY Ravens defender that I have NEVER seen miss an open field tackle (that includes you too, Ray Ray). He is the ONLY linebacker that I have not seen blow a pass coverage (RE: The Sproles Screen...Sizzle?). And finally, he plays hurt (shoulder) and I have NEVER heard him grumble or moan about all the dirty work. Yeah, he is a LOT better than we give him credit for.
