Ngata Fined For Hit On Brady

46 posts in this topic

@jamisonhensley #Ravens Haloti Ngata was fined $5,000 for striking Tom Brady in the head area. Ngata said he won't appeal the fine.

Is there a youtube video or anything of this hit? I remember it happening but don't remember thinking it was anywhere near worthy of a fine.

It was a slap on the helmet. Not really that bad, but it is what it is. At least the Patriots' David Wright also got fined for his questionable roughing-the-passer call as well, so that's two iffy fines for two iffy penalties.

At least the league was consistent with the fines, but seriously they need to get a handle on the babying of QBs, or its gonna turn into my homeland CFL soon with barely serviceable defenses and 7 WRs on the field to go along with 45-36 games every week. I dont know how protecting the QB from cheap shots, to the knees and helmet to helmet hits turned into you can only hit the QB in the waist.

That hit was not worthy of a 5000.00 fine. Ngata should have gotten his money worth and took his head off. What a bunch of crap. I guess they have to issue some type of fine though. Like I said, I wish he had gotten more for his buck!

To me, Ngata had no way of preventing himself from making contact with Brady's helmet; Wright did. Whatever. It's time to focus on the Bengals.

He is not appealing because he is already focused on the next task at hand which is the Bengals, also 5,000 is pocket change to NFL players. It's a non issue.
The Patriots' Mike Wright was fined $5,000 for hitting Ravens QB Joe Flacco in the head
Would he have been fined too had the Ravens not made a stink? I have my doubts.

That's a good question but Wright deserved to get fined.

I don't recall his hit, but if it was anything less than Ngata's (or Suggs) then it shouldn't even be an issue. I have a funny feeling there was a ref meeting after this one and hopefully this crap will stop.

Don't you think that, as a general rule, when someone is fined for hitting a non-Brady player, it's probably a legit issue?

It was worse than Ngata's hit on Brady. Wright came in flying and he basically slapped Flacco's facemask before moving his hand away.

I think that farting within 2 feet of him is "Roughing the Brady."

Hmmm. Sounds intentional. A move like that would disorient the QB long enough so as to get a better grip for the sack.

I'm more upset about the Suggs thing though. His body language clearly shows him trying to avoid Brady.

I'm actually sick of talking about this.....and Tom Brady. It's infuriating.

you know warden your right i dont think the pats would have been fined if it wasnt for the fact that we " whinned" about the terrible reffing job we were shown in that game.

I remember seeing a piece on Deacon Jones and how his headslap maneuver was so violent and vicious, they had to ban it because he simply couldn't be contained. Jones would technically be the league's all-time sack leader if they had started recording sacks as an official stat prior to 1982.

Thanks to Mr. Goodell, the NFL is gonna turn into the TFFL! (Touch Flag Football League)

What a joke man!
Actually, you can blame it more on Jeff Fisher since he's head of the Competition Committee. They, as well as the owners, come up with these rules and vote on them.

Suggs dreamed about sacking Brady and when he woke up there was a flag at the foot of his bed...

Why is the NFL turning into this. It's Football. You hit people. That's how you play. You tackle.

Actually, you play to win the game. But I agree with you.

Favre takes more hits than brady so you cant use age as a factor. its the golden boy and he better not be tocuhed because the nfl might be take away from us if another we see another bradyless season. (for those who missed it i was being sarcastic lol)

That's exactly who I thought of when he said head slap. Did you know that someone taped a razor blade to his helmet to get Deacon to stop it? It worked too. Sliced Deacons hand open. Can you imagine if the game was still like that? The good old days, when violence was pure and went unchecked. lol

Some of the stuff that went on the good ole' days was a bit much but the NFL has made some bad rule-changes recently. Corners not being able to jam receivers like they used to is annoying. I think they changed it just because Ty Law abused Marvin Harrison in a play-off game.

Ngata being fined is bull. Brady's follow through on the throw caused the hit. When Brady followed through his arm came down on Ngata's arm forcing his hand down and onto Brady's facemask. That call should never had been made much less the fine.

Damn lol I immediately thought of the Simpsons episode when Homer is a boxer and Moe trains him. Moe goes into his office and pulls out a pair of gloves for Homer that have barbed wire on them and goes "ahhh they called that the stinga...they dont allow that no more" with a depressed look on his face.
