Crabtree Finally Agrees To Deal With 49ers

36 posts in this topic

Believe it or not, Michael Crabtree could make his NFL debut this Sunday, assuming he catches up enough/ learns at least a few plays in the playbook.

he would have to be godlike to be able to play now.... or at least on randy moss' level; he'll either be traded or sit out for the whole year

Finally. His stupidity will haunt him his entire career, though, everyone will remember this holdout whether he becomes one of the great ones or not. The 'Diva' label is hard to shake.

If the 49ers can get Crabtree going. They will definitely be a force to reckon with come playoff time. I like the makeup of the team come cold weather.

It's going to take him a few weeks at least to get up to speed. Who's to say he's even been working out.

He's Michael Crabtree. The World's Most Talented Wide Receiver Who's Never Played a Professional Game, he doesn't need to work out.

he's not the first rookie receiver or player even, to pull a stunt like this. As long as he keeps working his tail off, dudes going to be a baller, but until then his name is Michael Moneytree :P

I just hope his game does translate into the NFL, and turns into the Wide Receiver the 49ers need (now they only need a real Quarterback). If only to save him some face for looking like a selfish tool for the past few months...

The difference between Harvin & Heyward Bey is largely due to the player throwing them passes...

Crabtree should be happy he didn't go to Oakland. Their QB is just down right awful. I feel sorry for Heyward-Bey.

I do too, but Heyward-Bey has been playing like he has hands of stone...

I never thought this deal would get done. Now we don't have to hear about him anymore even though he basically gave up his whole rookie season. Have they released how much he got? It seems with this being a 6 year deal he must have got the money he wanted. Now don't this break the slotting rule, the only thing I know about the money he got was that its not that far behind DHB which would break the slotting rule.

There's no slotting rule, per se. It's merely a pay scale that teams and agents use for negotiation purposes, set forth by the first overall pick. Usually, the highest selected QB if there isn't one taken with the 1st overall pick will break this slotting "rule," but they only really set a precedent for other QBs selected after him in the first round. It's almost an unwritten rule, if you will. It relies mostly on business ethics and acting on principle.

Then I need to eat what he's eating or whatever he does to stay in shape.

This reminds me of Jamarcus Russel a few years back. Big name, big expectations, a long time for a contract, a big contract and no productivity.

Have you seen some of the throws he's been attempting?

It's his fault. He's an awful passer.

Ugh, yeah. I remember watching some Oakland games, and it baffled me how this man was taken at the #1 Overall Spot, and considered the best quarterback in the draft. For every "decent" throw he makes, he throws 15 horrendous passes.

NFL Network was talking about if Crabtree would make an immediate impact on the 49ers. How could he? He won't even have a week in the NFL before the game on sunday. But if he's as good as he wants everyone to think he is, why should we worry? Heh.

In all seriousness, his rookie year is shot. He signed a 6 year deal, where he can nullify his sixth year, but he has to really produce for two of his first four years. Well, not going to happen this year. If anything, he'll put up decent (and I'm stretching it) numbers. So he essentially has three years and needs to turn two of them into Pro Bowl performances. Sorry, Mikey, I think you'll be in San Fran for the whole six years.

Seems like Crabtree was definitely worth the wait...

Heyward-Bey, 7 Games - 4 Catches

Crabtree, 1 Game - 5 Catches
