Ray Lewis And Ed Reed Will Not Be Fined

22 posts in this topic

Just watched it on NFL live on ESPN. No news on Harbaugh yet. So I guess this might be some good news concerning the play calling. Let's see how it unfolds.

Edit: Ooo would've known sooner thanks to Mike Duffy.

Just goes to prove...whether you love him or hate him (of course we love him, but he is not loved in all cities), Ray Lewis is one of the most respected men in the entire NFL.

Plus here's clearly attempting to bring back the Fedora, which I wholeheartedly support.

Garbage calls in a garbage game. Hopefully the lack of a fine sends a message to the refs.

Looks like Ray is copying the Justin Timberlake look. Must be the new pop style or something.

Maybe no fines because there is some merit to their claims? They spoke up against bogus calls and I hope the league comes out and say something about the poor officiating. I'm glad Harbaugh and co. sent a query in for the poor calls and spots.

Absolutely. The league is always very quick to fine any coach or player who criticize the refs.

I don't think what they said was that bad really. There have been tirades about refs in the past that make Ray and Ed look completely innocent.

I didn't catch the whole thing [and can't pull up the video here at work], but Ray seemed very respectful when he was talking about it. I think that helped. It didn't come across as a beeyotch session - just a player voicing a concern.

I'd like to believe that the non-fine means the league agrees and wants to do something about it, but I can't help feeling that they just want it all to go away and maybe a fine could just prolong everything(?). I don't know how it works, but Ray & Co. could possibly protest the fine? dragging it on or whatever.

gee I can't wait for that weekly segment to come on, the one on NFL network where they talk about debateable calls.... I want to hear his excuses for the bad calls for that game

I didn't hear ed reeds, but of what I did hear of Lewis' he insulted the games, not so much directly calling out the refs.. thats why imho they aren't getting fined

Last week I posted a bit on the forums on the patriots website(they suck) and after the game they were all saying that the way our players and coach were acting was ridiculous and classless. I guess either they didn't see Brady or the homer shades were too dark. Anyway, It's a shame but they might have to go the way of the NHL and make a dive penalty. I'm not a big NBA fan, but isn't there also some kind of dive rule there too? IMO in a situation where the defender obviously had no intent on running into the quarterback, and does or hits the helmet with no obvious intent to do so it would still be a penalty, but when the quarterback flops down on the field and starts crying like a B***** the dive penalty would be called and cancel out the original penalty, game keeps going let's man up and play ball.

Ok as long as he does not try to expose anyone on the field!

The Refs should be fined. It's rediculous how they can repeatedly make questionable calls and not be reprimanded for their actions.

I was listening to The Fan last night and even the hosts were saying that not fining Ray Lewis and Ed Reed was an acknowledgment by the league that the call against Suggs was crap.

Timberlake? Pop style? I thought Ray and T O had seen pics of me recently. I wear pork pies and fedoras. Just an old Italian guy thing to me.

I know it is a old school style, but it appears to be making a comeback. Seems like all of the young pop stars are wearing them, like Justin, Mario and Aston Kucher. Ive also seen TO and Johnny Dawkins wearing them. I'll rush out to get mine when I see Tiger's head covered in one.

I was always under the impression the refs got reviewed in the offseason and anyone not up to snuff got fired.

Yep,, i'm old. I have no idea who those 3 pop stars are or what they do. Last time i watched golf, think it was Lee Trevino and he was wearing a fedora. lol.
My poor poor young daughter really does have an old man for a dad.

I'm also glad to see fines weren't issued.

Sometimes professional sports leagues seem like communist states, the way they surpress negative opinions. I don't see what's wrong with two all-pro players speaking out, hopefully it holds the referees accountable and improves the standard for future games.

According to news reports, the NFL has essentially put a gag order on the Ravens prohibiting them from discussing the reasons behind the no-fines outcome of their "discussions" with the league over Sunday's disgraceful officiating. But, wouldn't it be nice to know some details? After two days of talking the NFL all but admitted the Ron Winter crew made mistakes by not slapping fines on Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs of Coach Harbaugh for justifyingly speaking out. Someone in the local media said last night that officials' calls never dictate the outcome of games. Yes they do. Anytime there is a call or a play that leads directly to points the outcome of the game is affected. The closer the game the more significant those calls or plays become. The Ravens aren't talking nor should they. Keeping this going does them no good. They need to move on and focus on the Bengals. But, the rest of us can continue to be curious. What happened in those discussions that Coach Harbaugh described as two days of back and forth? What was the league's response when shown the video of those two fraudulent RTP flags (as well as some other penalties) and ball spotting by the Winter crew? Did they try and defend the calls? Two days of back and forth discussions suggests plenty was said. What was it? Unless some enterprising local sports reporter can drill down a little deeper on this we likely will never know the answer to these questions. But, wouldn't it be nice to get a little what-did-you-know-and-when-did-you-know-it information? The Ravens need to move on. Not us!
