Ravens Sign Prescott Burgess

30 posts in this topic

Aaron Wilson recently reported on Twitter that we have placed Ayanbadejo on IR and signed Burgess from the Pats Practice Squad!

It'll be good to have him back on special teams, especially since BA is now done for the year.

Thoughts?

Happy to see Brugess back. He really impressed me in the final pre-season game and I think he'll be a force on special teams if he stays healthy.

lol! So we get him back and we also picked up a 7th round draft pick when we traded him away. Thats funny! Ozzie strikes again, in a weird sort of way?

Will the Ravens still get that pick considering Burgess didn't play a down for them?

No. Burgess would have needed to be active for the pats for a certain amount of games and he obviously didn't get in any.

So pretty much Burgess went to the Pats, told them what he knows, then comes back to the Ravens. According to the Harbaugh presser yesterday, Harbs sounded like the outcome of Burgess going to the Pats was a lot worse than he expected.

We got totally played and dropped the ball somewhere.

I agree, it sounds as if we got played by Darth Belichick. Personally, I don't know if I would have brought Burgess back. Sure, it's possible (if he did give up information) that he was doing it because he figured this was his new team, he wants in the Coach's good graces, but I don't think I would have been so forgiving to "rehire" him, if I were the Ravens' top brass.

I heard them discuss it on Baltimore 1300 AM this morning. When I get home I'll try and find it.

We do not get the pick

Who cares, it would have been for some scrum player anyway that wouldnt have made the team.

And as for BA being out..:34853_brickwall:

I don't know, I don't care about a conditional pick, myself. I was, however, answering someone else's question. We weren't going to get anything higher than a 7th pick, if he had stayed with the Patriots. Unless catastrophe struck, and due to injuries, Burgess got significant play time.

Basically... Ozzie got handeled by Belichick. He gave the Pats our playbook and defensive signals, and probably a win and got nothing in return.

Way to go Oz, no wonder Harbaugh was ticked. I got the sense in the press confrence when Burgess was first traded that Harbaugh wasnt happy about it.

And yeah, it was pretty obvious they knew what we were doing. A few times Brady just stood there and waited for our guys to call out their adjustments and then he'd audible to something else.

Honestly, why else would Belichick want Burgess? This left a bad taste in my mouth the moment I first read about it.

It's not like we're going to get any info on the Pats' D from Burgess. For the purpose Belichick wanted him to serve, and the amount of time he was on the team, he was most likely not told anything concerning the New England defense. Although it'd sure be nice if Burgess brought some info back.

I wouldn't want him back, seeing as He was traded the the next weeks opponent, gave up info and then released. well who knows if he gave it up, but after yesterday, it's hard to doubt he didn't.

If he had information, it would be helpful should we face them in the postseason. But as I said, he was most likely kept in the dark.

If I remember right, someone had commented on the news article announcing the trade saying that he was going to do as much. It's rare to see a bonehead decision like this from an ordinarily stellar front office. I was ticked that we even let Burgess go in the first place after the way he stood out in the preseason. Hell, Oniel Cousins got called for 8 holding penalties and still made the team.

At this rate, we'll be trading Heap to the Squeelers in week 11 and resigning him in week 13.

PB collects 3 pay checks in less than a week, NICE! Haha.

He got the remainder of his 2009 season guaranteed salary, Patriots development/practice squad check then gets a new contract with the Ravens.

WIN =p

Who cares about retrospect? we cant change it now.

Im just really happy we get back one of our young linebackers back, the kid showed HUGE improvements an potential. Let that Pats sign their geriatric linebackers and see how well they do against McGahee/Rice.

I'm glad we got Burgees back. He has alot of talent. I was pissed when I heard about the trade. Especially for a 7round draft pick? He's worth more then that. Anyway Sucks Brendon is going on IR he was having such a good year!
