I Know What You Went Through Today

26 posts in this topic

I watched the game today. As some of you may know we played the pats last week and it seemed that they had the refs in their back pocket. Their were b.s. penalties and they didn't call the obvious ones. They held John Abraham all game long and didn't call it once, and one of Matt's passes got knocked down onto the ground and they let the play go on and one of their players took the ball back for a T.D. and we had to waste a challenge on that play. When you play the pats you have to beat them and the refs.

The calls for Brady are like Kobe in basketball. Benefit of the doubt goes to him. It can never be a defense was able to legally put pressure on Brady. From now on I'm calling Brady MC Hammer "can't touch this".

Holding all day, not sure if we held but they sure did.

I swear the Chargers game was a bizarrely reffed game but equal, this was horrible. Joe could get slapped around but Brady steps over Suggs and its roughing the QB. I don't know why playing the Pats brings out the worse in Raven Coaches--Billick blowing Harrison kisses and the 15 yarder on Harbs for yipping.

Funny, I was just wondering whatever happened to you, and here you are.

Yeah, not a fan of the calls and non-calls today, but bottom line is we had the chance at the end of the game to win it and we blew it.

It's easy to dismiss the notion that there's a conspiracy against Baltimore. When a former commissioner intentionally insults us by jokingly suggesting we build another museum rather than a stadium for a team, it does make you wonder. We had a superior bid for a team in '94, and they give a team to...Jacksonville? Who looks stupid now, they're a moribund franchise.

Everybody's seen "The Wire." There's obviously no actual conspiracy, but when you have a team like us, with Baltimore's rep, and the poster boy of the league on the other side....it's just enough to "influence" a few calls against us. It's like playing against Duke, at Duke (in college hoops).

When the play's over, no flag, then Brady gets up, asks for a penalty, they give one, and he does a fist pump...like Ray said, it's embarrassing to the integrity of the game. He said he even heard Brady admit the 2nd penalty was "cheap."

Get rid of this knee, head, all these areas you can't touch. How about simply "If it appears someone was reckless or tried to hurt the QB, 15 yard penalty." Establish a time limit for a hit on a QB after the ball is out. Everyone knows the new rules are shoddy, I haven't heard anyone here or on TV defend them.

The Steelers and the Patsies get the most obsurd calls I have ever seen in football. It's pathetic when you arent even watching your own team play and you dont see a flag thrown when necessary and you think, wow they would have called that on us.

Man, the defensive players around the league must be drooling at the chance to pummel Tom Brady. If I was Tom, I would watch my back because karma is coming. This over-protecting of certain QBs is ridiculous and will end up badly for the QB. Mark my words, this rule is pissing off many D's ...

Thats the problem...players get pissed durin the game and lose their temper which leads to more penalties and lack of concentration

I remember during the game Matt threw a TD and it got called back because of a push off (moss pushed off the whole game, and right after that we get called for holding (like I said before Matt Light was holding Abraham the whole game).

If a player loses his temper and makes a dumb play that warrants a penalty, I'm all for it. I'm against phantom plays though that draw flags just because the refs and the league want to protect certain players like Tom Brady, Roth, etc...

Anyone else realize that the play that Gaither got hurt on, Ty Warren totally plowed into Joe a good couple of seconds after the ball was out of his hand. Is that a penalty, nope. Suggs doesn't even touch Brady, and that's a 15 yard penalty. I equate the Pats to the Yankess in baseball, the Evil Empire.

It's pretty disenchanting as a fan when the referees don't let the players play the game. So many good plays getting erased because of technicalities that fall into a very large gray area on whether some referees will call them or not.

In my opinion there needs to be some hard-fast time limits to some of these penalties, like a hold having to occur for more than a second or so to be called, and having a 3-second grace period after a QB throws a ball to where he can still get bumped into or may have to avoid a defensive player who dived at him as he was throwing the football.

Just some ideas, obviously there's a lot of ways to improve the whacky officiating we've got going on.

DON'T FINE ME BRO. (it's stupid that NFL players don't get freedom of speech to criticize something about a game they sacrifice their bodies for.)

LOL! I love that! "DON'T FINE ME BRO!"

But has the officiating really changed? It seems like there's almost a '09 Pats to the playoffs conspiracy going on you know? I know Flacco took some unnecessary hits, but were those flagged? Nooooo.

I'd sacrifice 15 yards in a blowout win/loss for the chance at watching him wiggle around on the ground.

What are they going to do about it? Get fined and have yards taken away from their team, and (if it's Brady) maybe even face a suspension? No, I think this will just keep spiraling out of control, but maybe I'm just being pessimistic.

I'm glad someone else noticed.
There were two players who were touching Joe's helmet, but did both get flags? I think not.

As I remember it, Brady told the Ref to throw the flag and the Ref complied and Brady was all smiles. That was total BS and someone, Goodell, needs to make the Refs accountable for the flags. I know that everyone will say that the Refs are human and subject to mistakes; however, I think that call was really bad and slanted towards the Pats and Brady. Brady should not call the flags, the Refs should - without Brady's input.

Did anyone see on Monday Night Countdown where Trent Dilfer basically went off on what happened yesterday. I give Trent props for going out on TV and doing that, hopefully he won't face any fines for speaking the TRUTH.

Basically for those who didn't see it, Trent said how protecting the QB has gotten over board and said how the flags for roughing the passer are being thrown when the QB is not in danger(they showed the two plays of Ngata barely hitting Brady and Suggs so called hit on Brady and flags were thrown) and are not being called when the QB is actually in danger(in which they showed the play where the Pats lineman plowed into Flacco causing Gaither to get hurt, a play during the Raiders-Texans game where Brian Cushing jumped on to Russell)

Than before they went to the commercial, Ditka, Keyshawn, Carter and Berman all were shocked and said tell us how you really feel Trent. Man it feels good to see one person in the media sticking up for the integerity of the game.

See, I think the exact opposite.

I think Princess brady now has an extra safety cushion. Players scared to get the 15 yard penalty if they even breath on him wrong or mess up his pretty hair.

He might well be the most hated QB in the league but he is also the safest.

Yeah, we got hit with an illegal contact penalty on Welker, which was still within five yards and really not a lot of contact there at all. If anything Welker intiated it but we get hit with the 5 yard penalty on 3rd down and the drive keeps going.

Then we turn around and get hit with an offensive pass interference call on Mason, after the Pats db's were allowed to maul our wideouts all day. Its rediculous but despite the officiating the Ravens didnt do themselves any favors.

That was probably the worst part about it. I think if players go to refs complaining about calls, they should be hit with penalties to. Just like Harbs was.

I understand where you're coming from, but that seems like a can of worms.

Players shouldn't be able to lunge maliciously at a quarterback's knees either, but we've seen what that has evolved into.

If complaining were against the rules, we would probably just see more flags thrown against teams playing the Patriots.
