Since everybodys around here pointing the finger at particular people, i figured it would make sense to start a thread about Blame instead of waisting posts in other thread discussions

It's easy for us fans to point fingers, but bottom line, the players will only point fingers at themselves as a unit. You win as a team, you lose as a team. Therefore, the team lost, plain and simple.

Not as if it's an entirely bad thing. Yes, a loss is never a good thing -- but at least it wasn't a loss to a divisional rival, at least it came early enough in the season that our playoff hopes didn't hinge on it, and at least it was a close game. That's all you could ask for out of a loss, as weird as that sounds.

Are you kidding?

How can you not have this secondary in the poll?

I would make this poll between Clayton and the secondary, and no one else.

If you ask me it was a bit of everything all around.

Special Teams
Clayton
Stupid Penalties
Turnovers
Refs
Secondary

Hard to blame just one person or thing for this game.

All I know is, this team is not championship material if they can not win the BIG games. Despite it only being week 4, this was a BIG game.

Tell me about it! It was painful to watch. We're not used to this style of Defense. When you're used to seein a tuff D for 10 years, its hard to adjust to this bull-crap!

No single player can be blamed for a loss, especially in a 11 man sport like football. I was disppointed in Clayton because this was one of the all time blunders in sports moments. Kinda like missing the free throw that would have won the basketball game. But no, he did not lose the game. It was just the timing of his mistake. Flacco underthrew Mason wide open behind two defenders, but he didn't lose the game either. Carrs opening fumble put us in a immediate hole, but that didn't lose the game either....etc.

Too many things. Can't just blame it on one. We lost as a unit.

There were a few bright stars. Jarrett Johnson, Ray Rice, Flacco. But alot of negatives. Penalties, turnovers, missed tackles and the refs.

Though the players could have played better, the Refs still affected the game, and should be penalized somehow. Its ridiculous having all these bad calls from professionals. And it always seems like the bad calls are on us.. Sometimes I think the refs are payed off. :D

Well, I voted Clayton. It's just I feel that if he only caught the ball and nothing else, it would have been 1st and goal at the 3? yard line and I feel confident that we could have made a TD with 4 tries. I'm not one who likes to blame one person for a team loss but Clayton and the non-catch at the end of the game is what disappoints me the most.

I wish Carr was an option. How about that fumble to start the game that led to a FG? Well if it were 3 points less on the pats score when we had a 4th down in the redzone, I think we wouldve tied it, and then who know what wouldve happened.

Nah man, can't put all the blame on him. We should never have allowed 27 points in the first place.

I'm just gonna try to forget this game and start thinking about next week.. it was at Foxborough against the Patriots, so it was not an easy match in the first place. Unfortunately we fell just short but oh well. Only thing we can do now is get past this loss and keep on going. That's what good teams do.

Uh no, the answer to "who's at fault?" is not the team as a solitary unit. Not all Ravens are created equal, and that sure as all hell showed today. Sorry, your statement is irrelevant to the original inquiry.

3rd worst: Carr
2nd worst: Clayton
ABSOLUTE WORST: the playcalling. Ugh, Rice cut through the Pats D time and time again, but, for whatever crazy reason, Harbaugh and co. are dedicated to the throw. We threw the ball wayyyyyy too much.

props to Rice, Mason, and Suggs.

I don't think the Colts pass the ball too much, for one reason - Peyton Manning. I get that same feeling about the Ravens because of the fast development of Joe Flacco. This kid is really special, and by God he almost pulled us out of an impossible ditch this afternoon. By the end of the year, no one will be able to beat the Ravens and BTW, no one will be complaining about lack of running plays either. I was really impressed by what I saw in Flacco today. I hope they just tighten up the D a little more, but the offense looks spectacular just like it is.

I was a bit disspointed in the play calling. I love passes and all. But it seemed like we could run on them. Why didn't we do that more often, especially in the 2nd & 3rd Quarters.

Harbs looked frustrated on many levels out there. And he really had some things to say about all the good ball placements that the Pats were receiving.

Even though the Defense had a rough game... everyone knew that the Pats would get their points. 27 is too many to give up, but the table was set.

I blame two people, primarily. Clayton failed on the biggest single play of the game - he catches the ball, the Ravens are probably 4-0.

However, it is just one play. If Carr doesn't fumble, if Joe doesn't throw the INT (Clayton's fault...) - all one play failings, and none really solely determined the outcome.

The real blame for the loss is Cam. Ray Rice averaged 9.4 yards per rush attempt. The Ravens averaged almost 7 yards per rush as a team. An extremely effective rushing game.

Yet, Cam calls 17 rushing plays, and 47 passing plays. 74% of the offensive plays were passes, despite a great rushing day.

As a result, the Ravens had the ball 25 minutes, and Brady got it 35 minutes.

Cam failed.

BTW - the "pass happy" Patties ran the ball 30 times, and passed it 32.

Sorry, sir, but Franny is correct. Whether or not all Ravens "are created equal", the team has to play as a whole, single entity. This isn't basketball, where you chuck it to LeBron to win games (no matter how badly TO wants it to be). Cam Cameron (and his play calling) is part of that single unit. We called some dubious plays, dropped some passes, missed some tackles, fumbled some balls, threw some passes to the defense, blew some coverage, and committed some penalties. That's no single person or group's fault.

They certainly do. As fans we know the secondary is weak and the receivers are ok but they don't set the world on fire, the team hung and played hard.
