Ayanbadejo Tears Quadriceps

This is a pretty big loss as Ayanbadejo was playing really, really well defensively, and he is one of the best special team players in the league.

Our three-time, and would have been four-time after 2009, Pro Bowler may be out for the entire year.

Condolences to Brendan as he had been waiting for an opportunity at linebacker.

this sucks. BA is one of my favourite players. Huge loss for ST and loss for our nickel defense aswell.

Get better soon BA. I jsut hope it isnt season ending as we need him for January

Honestly, this bothers me more than the loss to the Pats. This hurts more long-term since it's hard to say who'll step up immediately as that ace gunner on special teams. Jameel McClain maybe, but he's also valuable on defense. Antwan Barnes has shown promise, but has a tendency to overpursue or sometimes get too aggressive.

I feel for Brendon since he won my respect this season after I badmouthed him for comments he made last year that rubbed me the wrong way. Seems like a good enough guy, so I hope he can bounce back from this and contribute next year. If he's the genetic freak that he appears to be, maybe he'll get lucky and be able to rehab quickly. Not quick enough to return by the postseason since he still wouldn't be 100%, but in time for mini-camps and training camp next year hopefully.

Just curious...what did BA say last year?

I wish him the best and a speedy recovery. He's our best special teamer on an already poor ST. You will be missed.

I'm guessing Franchise is referring to Ayanbadejo asking Chicago fans for Pro Bowl votes last year even after joining the Ravens.

We really took the issue out of proportion.

I'm disappointed to hear this, I had a lot of respect for him both on and off the field because he conducted himself very well in both areas, pro-bowl vote controversy notwithstanding. I hope he has a speedy recovery and that the injury is not as bad as it sounds.

Definitely a loss but If I know the Ravens, there isn't a Linebacker on that Roster that isn't ready to step up. I assume next week Tavares Gooden will be back, and Jameel McClain, Edgar Jones, and Danell Ellerbe have all played solid. So while it sucks and is a loss of a pro bowl player, I'm confident we will do fine.

The concern is more on special teams, he was our ace gunner. I think we are deep enough at linebacker, but with special teams already an area to improve, it's a big hit - Marcus Smith is out for the year as well isn't he?

Wow, big loss for us, damn .... Any ideas how long the recovery is for a torn quad?
[/quote]
Several months I would imagine.

Yeah, you're right, we did. But at the time, the comments insinuated that Ravens fans didn't appreciate special teams. He said something like if he was with Devin Hester he'd definitely have made the Pro Bowl and some other crap, and something that put Ravens fans at fault for not giving him enough votes. It was minor stuff in retrospect, but a big deal at the time given that he was the new guy on the team and hadn't done much up to that point in the season.

I never liked him after that, I actually cringed watching him take snaps from young guys when at his age he will never improve or be a starter.

Any word on Burgess or who takes his place?
