You really need to get a life and grow up. You're acting silly and immature. It is not Clayton's last year in Baltimore. Chris Carr, maybe. Mark Clayton, no.

How about you coach a team and show us how much you know about professional football? Or perhaps play Wide Receiver and show you know the in and outs of the position better then Clayton. Until then, settle down and stop acting like a fool when it comes to Clayton.
i always love this type of response from people.
its not about someone posting being able to go out and play professional football. its about seeing what we see consistently on the tv and knowing that this guy just doesnt have it.

Stop making excuses for him. 95% of receivers in the league will make a catch that hits them in the chest.

Damn. Nothing to hang our head over, but man, we had this game. Joe looked great down the stretch in a hostile environment. Rice was great. D stiffened up a bit in the second half and scored also. This is a far cry from last year's Indy or NYG game. Let's kick Cincy's butt next week, huh?

Clayton haters are way too harsh on Clayton. You expect him to catch every catch thrown to him, no matter what position he's in, where he's at on the field, or what kind of coverage is on him. Not every incomplete pass is HIS fault. Sometimes defensive backs, you know, do their job and break up passes. Get over yourselves, and give the man some breathing room. He's a good receiver, just not number one material (right now). And I would not be surprised if Washington moved up to #2. Not because of how Clayton is playing or not playing, but because of how well Washington IS playing.
Catching is his job, is it not?
We took a page right out of Pittsburgh's book last year on that drive. We had this, but this is what happens when your #2 receiver sucks.

Excuse me while I start a "Let's trade for Boldin" thread.
Please don't.

Joe was throwing those balls too hard out there all day. How many passes did we see zip through people's hands and being near picks? At least 6 or 7.
Wow the ball was thrown to hard to clayton thats why he didn't catch it man flacco you throwing the ball to hard lost us the game! WOW

Here's another way to look at it: the Ravens can do no worse than 3-13, but no better than 15-1.

They went into a tough crowd in Foxboro and pushed a three-time Super Bowl champion to its limit. The Pats needed help to keep it close. There were many questionable calls (but also many miscues on the Ravens part) and the game was still close.

Sure, a moral victory is no consolation for the scratch in the L column, but the team had technically won 7 straight games since August, so better to take a loss early (if necessary) and take it close than to get blown out in the face of adversity. For it to come down to the last minute speaks to the character of the team against the odds, and this was not at all a bad game.

There was sloppiness, and there were mistakes, but good teams bounce back from that. The Ravens will do no worse than remain in 1st place in the AFC North headed into Week 5 against the Bengals, and if the Ravens expect to maintain sole possession of first place, they will need to rack up a 2nd win in the division to notch a 2-0 record for the crown.

The fact that the Bengals struggled against the Browns today bodes well for next week. Plenty to look forward to.

It was too much to overcome. We had to beat the Refs and the Patriots, mostly the refs. Clayton should have a TD the play before last but the defender was holding his arm like crazy but that never got a penalty which should have been 1st and goal at the 1. I wanna know where the Roughing the passer penalty was when Gaither got hurt, Joe long threw the ball but yet the defender smashed Joe into Gaither like he was trying to hurt both Gaither and Joe ON PURPOSE! I want the refs checked under a lie detector test to see if they betted on the game or were just giving the patriots the game anyway possible. Every time we play Pittsburgh or New England the refs have bull**** calls to give them the win and screw the Ravens. We should have won the game next time I want Ray and John to knock out every official right in the face. If they try to screw us against Pittsburgh, I want something done about these officials.

By the way to those knocking Clayton, he'll bounce back next week and I bet if he makes the game winning TD pass against the Bengals you guys will be sucking right back up to him.

Force Clayton to earn his spot here, he was non existant all game. Come on Harbs if your gonna force Kruger to earn it and McGahee then why the hell arent you doing to same for Clayton? Put Kelly out wide, and put Clayton in the slot...its where hes better suited anyway.

Stop making excuses for him. There was NO excuse for what he just did.
No there isn't. Am I defending that drop? No. Am I defending him overall as a receiver? Yes.

But guess what? Every. Receiver. Does. It. There are very, very few receivers who are are almost always money. Like I've said, people ride him into the mud no matter what the man does. A pass is incomplete because he was well covered and had the pass broken up by the defender? His fault. He makes an attempt to haul in a pass that was off the mark slightly? His fault. No matter what Clayton does, he's put down. It's absurd. It's immature to never give the guy a break, no matter how well he plays. No matter the conditions in which the pass was incomplete (whether it be broken up, off the mark, or dropped), you blame him. Give the guy a break when he deserves a break, and cut him down when he deserves it.

Am I a Clayton lover? No. I am indifferent to him, but I'm not blinded by silly hatred for a guy who usually plays hard.

We only play three "elite" teams this year -- the Pats, the Colts, and the Steelers twice.

Clayton is not and never will be a 1WR. That missed catch is inexcusable if you ask me. When you get paid millions of dollars to run routes and catch balls, 50% doesnt cut it imho

Oh stop. We have no one to blame but a piss poor defensive showing, Carr and Clayton to blame for this.

He's had his chance as an overall receiver, we invested a first round pick for him and all he's shown is that he's inconsistent. We praise him when he makes great plays but he disappears way too much during games. I'm not a Clayton hater and today was probably the only day I've ever bashed him in my time here at the forum. But when a guy is being paid millions of dollars to be a playmaker and doesn't preform anywhere close to expectations.. it's gonna get people mad.

You're missing the point. Yes, catching is his job. And again, what you people do not understand is, I am not defending his drop, or any of his critical drops. What I am saying it, you guys jump over every incomplete pass that is his way. Whether it's his fault or not. Simple fact of the matter is, Clayton is decent, like I've said. Did I say he was great? No. He steps up at least once a game.

He isn't a game winner. Did I say he was? No. Did I say Clayton was a weapon? No. Did I say Clayton was always reliable? No. Did I say he's number one material? No. Did I say I'd trust him in a game winning drive? Again, no.

Do you think I care really if you neg me because I'm defending a guy who doesn't deserve the overall lynching he's getting, not the passes he drops? Do you really think I mind? Grow up.

sounds like you dont even believe what youre trying to defend.
sports fans in general always get down on their players when they dont do well its what fans do.
look at yankees fans when they blow it every year they are the worst.
as a fan though we have every right to state our opinion of a guy which in claytons case we have found him to be a bust for awhile now with small flashes here and there and nothing more.

I certainly do give him credit when it's due. I even created a thread a couple weeks ago after yet ANOTHER garbage outing from him praising him for a catch he made.
And you're damn right I knock him when he deserves it. I spend a lot of damn money buying Ravens memorabilia and tickets to games, so I have every right to complain when this guy constantly gives us nothing.

He has sucked it up for over four years. Time to let go and face the fact the guy just isn't very good. At all.
