Samari Rolle

As you have already probably read on the homepage, Samari Rolle just underwent another surgery on his neck. He was suppose to be coming off the PuP in about 2 weeks.

Hate to say it but it looks like his season is done and he is probably going to retire as well.

A secondary with Rolle in it makes me feel a lot more comfortable at the end of the day but hopefully a guy like Frank or Webb can step up if needed.

Bummer. I was sort of looking forward to having him back. When he is on the field, he's a darn good corner. But that's the problem. When has he been on the field for an extended period of time.

I think Samari is done. I think he would make us a better team but I dont think I really want him to come back. Given his age and his health issues, its probably best for him if he just moves on.

It's unfortunate that he's done because he has been a good player for us in the past. However, after that nasty neck injury at last year's Browns game (boy was the stadium quiet when that happened) he never quite bounced back.

i think we all knew this is what would happen. Its a pretty big blow as Rolle is a very good corner when he is healthy. Last year he was a statistical top 5 corner.

Although hopefully this allows us to get Webb more playing time so he can start next year. This also clears up cap space. Thanks for everything Samari.

If Rolle does not play this year does that free up any cap money for this year? Im not real sure but wouldnt we be able to go out and perhaps sign someone off free agency this year to help out? The only problem is there isnt a whole lot out there, I looked! :225:

Well true there really isn't anybody out there that can help us..... but if he retires that frees up some cap space I say that would be a perfect time to lock in Jared Gaither to a long term deal and some other key players on this team. We need to start putting the pieces together of this team, as in lock the future of this team up to long term deals.

I'm honestly surprised no one has given C Mac a call, apparently he was garnering interest from the Raiders but I guess that fell through. We definitely need to at least consider him, and hopefully he and Harbaugh come to terms...

we need to give McCalister a call

There's a reason why NOBODY wants CMAC. Rex Ryan called friggin Corey Ivy in for a work out just the other day instead of CMAC that is very telling.

I'd rather have Cmac then Corey Ivy, honestly. Silly Rex Ryan.

It's very sad for me to think of Rolle retiring. He's been one of my favorite three players to come over from Tennessee (Mason, Rolle, McNair, in case I need to spell it out for ya). Sad to think of maybe Mason and Rolle both being done, but I'd rather Samari think of his health then trying to continue playing, being ineffective and risking himself.

Guys need to stop holding on to past players who made contributions to the team that are no longer in the team's future. The whole call Stover, call CMac thing, is old. Drop it, please. Unless we let these guys go, we will never be able to develop younger talent to take their place and move our team forward. I admire Rolle as a player and a person. Yes, a healthy Rolle would have bolstered our secondary, but honestly speaking, there isn't much that he can do for our team moving forward. It's time to move on. However, sad and difficult that may be.

Samari WHEN healthy is very effective and IS a massive help to the team. The only reason he is not in the future of the team is due to his health issues. And since when has anyone here stated "call Stover" or "Call McAlister"? The last time I heard that was at the beginning of the season. So therefore stating that is old, is outdated. I think everyone has started to see that we have a good team without these players.

There are a few replies in this very thread where people are saying we should call CMac. And when Hauschka missed the field goal against KC, people were saying call Stover. That's what I was referring to.

The problem is, Samari has not been able to stay healthy. I'm not saying he can't play or he isn't good. Just that his injury issues is keeping him off the field and there are a couple young player waiting to make their mark.

Calling Cmac is pointless in this thread. Rolle has not been on the field at all, we have people who can cover for him. He has a replacement, no point calling someone to replace someone who's already been replaced. "Call Cmac" Pointless

As for call Stover, that was in week one. We're in week four, no one has stated call Stover since. "Call Stover" Pointless.

You're coming off as saying Rolle is not effective because he is old, which is untrue. Which is why I said what I said. Samari cannot stay healthy, which is the problem. But I can't blame the guy, he's taken some nasty hits.
