Flacco Is One Of The Most Underpaid Athletes According To Yahoo

23 posts in this topic

Flacco comes in at 9, and I think, he could have been higher. Lincecum definitely earned taht top spot, but puh-leaze, get leBron outta here.

Thanks for the Link. Thats pretty funny info. Wow! I agree L.J. should not be on there. If and when he has grand children, they too will be set for life. Just like Michael Jordan. They make their dough off endorsements. Just temporary for Cool Joe, his pay day will come sooner than later. First payment made in the form of a trophy! :229031_rofl:

I have a different way to look at this when it comes to Peterson and Flacco. Play well and earn that huge pay day. Adrian Peterson and Joe Flacco are still in their rookie contracts their pay day will come when their contracts reach the 1 year left point or have run out and they performed well to earn that big pay day. Obviously Adrian Peterson, who is in his 3rd season, has out performed his rookie contract and the Vikings will make sure that he'll get a new 6 or 7 year deal that makes him probably the highest paid RB in Vikings and league history and makes him a Viking for life.

Same with the Ravens, to me Joe out performed his rookie contract when he took us to 11-5 and won 2 playoff games last season. Joe again is showing early on he has out performed it and he is only in his second year of the 5 year deal. I'm sure once Joe takes us to the Super Bowls and possibly wins SB MVPs and makes Pro Bowls before his rookie deal ends, Joe might get the 1st $100 million dollar contract in Ravens history if Haloti Ngata don't sign the $100 million dollar contract first. Than Joe will have signed the 2nd $100 Million dollar contract in Ravens History.

Note: I say Joe and Ngata may be the 1st 2 Ravens to sign $100 Million dollar contracts because I look at what Big Ben got, Eli Manning and Phillip Rivers (well mostly Eli and Ben because they have the SB rings and trophys to back them up) got when looking at what we'll have to pay Joe. Obviously Dan Snyder screwed us with giving Haynesworth $100 million dollars so Ngata will be looking for something similar or the exact same offer Haynesworth got.

Makes sense. Ravens really got a steal at number #18 pick in the draft and not having to pay him top 10 money. Nice job Oz. Ravens will need alot of cap room to sign Haloti for his price just keeps rising every game.

I just read it off Yahoo's page I was surprised someone already posted this. I had a feeling Flacco would be in there. But Like it was said before. He is still in his first contract. His payday will come. We never work out of draft picks contracts until there over. That's why I'm really hoping something will change with Ngata. Sign him before the media give him the recognition he deserves and then he will demand more money when it comes time.

Baseball rookie's are not well paid at all compared to veterans. Its the nature of the system though. Most guys take 2-3 years to get to the majors. Even first rounders dont usually get thrown right in the mix and even with Strasburg who just signed the biggest rookie contract ever, i tihnkhes only getting like 5 mil per year. But in baseball everything is guaranteedno matter what,.

If Joe continues to play this way throughout the rest of his contract then he's going to rake it in next time he signs.
Ditto...if he continues to play at this level AND bringsa championship home? Hello, highest paid player in NFL history...ALthough, with the way the salary cap can handicap a team, that may not be the greatest thing. FLacco, suggs, and ngata will be half the salary.

Adrian Peterson makes less than Ovie Mughelli? I wonder how much LeRon McClain makes compared to Mughelli...
McClain is still on his rookie contract. So, a whole lot less.

I believe the rookie contract salary minimum for baseball is between 250-300 thousand.

Don't even get me started on Dan Snyder :deadhorse:

I would really hope that Ngata would have some integrity and not try to be greedy enough to demand a $100 million dollar contract. He is definitely worth a lot to the Ravens organization, but not on the level of killing our salary cap.

Keep in mind, Flacco got a significant paycheck last season with all the incentives that kicked in with each playoff victory, as well as starting all 16 game (I believe he had to start something like 75% of the games that season to earn his performance incentive.) Pretty sweet deal when you also factor in the signing bonus, base salary, and prestige that comes with the playoff victories alone.

In fact, I don't know this for sure, but something tells me that Flacco would've gotten a major incentive for winning the Super Bowl, in addition to the $70,000 bonus for the Super Bowl winner and the obvious Lombardi Trophy and Super Bowl rings.

haha joe's day will come when he's making tom brady or payton manning money, he's got patience, he had enough patience to go through high school and college with ever having a winning season until his last season at delaware, i think he can wait for this too. but lincecum only making $695,000 is ridiculous, he alrwady has a cy young and may get another, he's one of my favorite pitchers in the league and he deserves more. haha

honestly I think joe doesnt want alot , he's quite humble and I hope he stays that way
Yeah, I agree. You all remember how quickly he was to sign after being draft, and how he wanted to be with the team on the field for beginning of off-season workouts. I do not think he is all about the money. He will get paid, but it will be within reason. I think his family keeps him well grounded.
