So the NHL is starting up again tonight. Just what I need is another sport to distract me besides the NFL.

Go Caps!

Usually I fall back onto hockey once the NFL season starts to piss me off. But this year the Ravens kick ******. The Caps kick ******. One of them has to win it all this year.

Wouldn't it be great if they both won. I could retire from watching sports for a year.

Caps should be great. But what's the deal with putting Theo back in goal? We'll never be able to win it all with him. Is it because we pay him more?

We are going to use a two goalie system so we have some depth going into the playoffs. Varlamov will start the home opener on Saturday vs. Toronto.

Great game tonight!

Def a great start. To go into Boston's home and crush them. Ofcourse they no longer have Kessel. But it was a good win to start the season. I guess Ovie won't be hitting a slump to start the season.

still not over the cup finals :34853_shakehead: :34853_brickwall: :th_shame:

I'm still not over Pittsburgh knocking out both my teams on the way to championships. Makes me sick. Maybe the tides will turn this year.

I am a huge Red Wing Fan and thought it was in the bag we were going home for 2 with 1 win needed boy i looked like an idiot.I liked the Caps last year to when I found out Sergei Federov was on the team(he left for overseas didn't he),he was the reason I started watching the Wings, then I just became a fan.

I know! It was bad enough that they lost, but the fact that it was Pittsburght made it that much worse. :(

Morrison and Knuble are going to make our offense insane. We finally look like we will have players besides laich who can stand around the goal pickin up trash.

Wow, one of my teams gets screwed over by officials yet again! FML.

How many powerplays did Philly have tonight....like 30?

I thought we were going to walk away with a win. Well at least we get the point.

AAH Hockey season FINALLY! Don't shoot me, but I'm a Flyers fan. I have been since I was like 6. I live up north in Ceciltucky, so Flyers games were just a lot closer to get to. That was a crazy game last night, It's always fun to see Mike Richards and Ovechkin go at it! It would be even better if the Caps were still in the old Atlantic division instead of Pittsburgh. BTW even though I support the Flyers i'm sure we can all agree to one thing..Cindy Crosby is the Tom Brady of the NHL

AMEN TO THAT!

Anyway, I was listening to the radio and I don't know what the heck happened Varlamov in the second, he just fell apart. I was happy that they put Theo in, but then that damn OT goal :gaah: :argh:

Actually it wasn't totally on Varly. There was one goal with massive traffic in front of him. He didn't even know the goal was scored until he heard it hit the back of the net.

The Richards goal was deflected right through the 5-hole by Poti's skate. He was actually in fine position to make the stop.

Our Defense just needs to step up.

Yeah Theo played pretty well, he didn't have a chance on that OT goal, he made a good save but the rebound went right to Briere. I think both Varlamov and Theo played better than Emery. I was disappointed that we got rid of both Marty Biron in favor of him

Theo sucks. Back to back straight up goals. Why can't he stop those.

He did make a few nice glove saves tonight. We can't be letting up 3+ goals a game.

With the offensive power the Caps have, they can cover it up any shortcomings in net during the regular season. Playoffs are a different story though.

Another Flyers fan here. Live in PA now but grew up in the DMZ (in between Baltimore & DC) I have tried but just can't bear to follow anything that starts with Washington. No offense to the Caps fans, it is just a holdover from when the few redskins fans in northern AA county were laughing a bit too much when the colts left.
...with that said it is very funny to see all of those Pens fans come out of the woodwork. I'm sure many of those so-called fans didn't even know that pittsburg had a team until they won the cup

Another thing that most pens fans don't realize is that the Pittsburgh Penguins were within eyelashes of going under until a few years ago. From the late 90's through maybe 2005 or 2006, the Penguins were probably not as good as some of the better minor league teams. They were just SO bad that they collected a ton of top 5 draft picks. Then, Mario Lemieux threw money into the pot, and came out of retirement shortly just to sell tickets and now all of the sudden you have MORE arrogant Pittsburgh fans to deal with.

That was a tough loss today. At least they played well, especially during overtime, and they didn't kill themselves with penalties.

So now my teams are 0-6. :(

Ok so if you are going to be arrogant like that than I will be arrogant and say that the Capitals are good because of all the crap years they've had. It's just hilarious that it took them this long to get it together. They've been horrendous since they entered the league up until what after the lockout? Why don't you go take a look and see how many first rounders play on that Crapitals team and you'd be surprised. For people babbling about Crosby the only reason people call him Cindy and all this other crap is because he would complain a lot his rookie season and hasn't done it since. There is not a better all around player than Sidney Crosby, so you guys just have to get over it. The comments about Lemieux are brutal as well if you knew the team owed him MILLIONS of dollars from his playing days which is why he owns part of the team.

It was a tough loss. Theo made some incredible (some lucky) saves in the OT PK.

They have to start winning at home and turn up the powerplay. Our PP is looking dead.
