Phil Savage Doesnt Know Jack

Does anybody remember during the 07 draft when Phil Savage did his interview with BSPN after trading up to get Brady Quinn? Well, if you dont, he said that the reason he was so agressive at getting Quinn was because next years draft class, 08, didnt have any QB's that would be worth a first round pick. How ironic is that the two first round QB's from 08 both look like they are going to be around for a very long time and both the QB's from the first round of 07 look like they'd be better off asking paper or plastic. Savage wouldnt know real talent if it smacked him in the face and to think, some folks actually tried to give him credit for Ozzie's handy work in the one good year the Browns had. Rant over.

I still get offended when prognosticators said that there were no quality QBs in the '08 draft, prior to that draft. Granted, no one could've seen the astronomic rise of Joe Flacco or the immediate first-year success of Matt Ryan, but it bothers me that I saw what I saw in Flacco before they did. Sure, there's a level of homerism there since he's from my school, but that aside, there was just something about his talent that jumped out at you, whether it was on TV or in-person.

It bothers me that they thought Brady Quinn and JaMarcus Russell would start the next golden age of QBs, when I saw nothing from JaMarcus Russell at LSU that told me he would be a Pro Bowl QB, and I saw nothing from Brady Quinn at Notre Dame that told me he could carry a team. Now, I thought Quinn could be a [i]winner[/i] at the QB position, but I certainly didn't think he could help in the rebuilding process of a team like the Browns (who are continually rebuilding.) Either way, the comparisons between Russell and John Elway were ridiculous.

Didn't know this. You are certainly correct saying Phil doesn't know Jack. I wonder if JaMarcus "the bust" Russell was avialable would he have taken him? Also love BSPN! LMAO!!!

I know one aspect that makes Russell a better quarterback than John Elway. He's not a big crybaby when he gets drafted by a crappy team.
