Nfc East Vs Others

16 posts in this topic

Okay, I've been tryin to figure this out for the past few Seasons. The Nfc East is still considered the Best & Tuffest Division in football. How do they rate this? Is it because they are the most popular division in football? Have the most fan base in football? What? The Deadskins and Cowgirls seem to never make the playoffs. The eagles are always bangged-up & never win the Big games, the Giants have been the cream of their Crop/Nfc East in most recent years. What is considered tuff or best? Everytime the (who's the best or most tuff division in football) question pops up, the Nfc East is always the answer. Somebody please help me with this one. I could care-less what the self-proclaimed experts think. However, I wanna know how this is determined. I know that i'm not as educated in terms of sports knowledge as most veterans in this forum. So, I know you guys will kick sum knowledge. I'm here to learn

Its because no matter who you think sucks and who does or doesn't make playoffs, theyre all consistently competitive teams, I dont kmnow the numbers but they make the playoffs a crapload and when theres 3 NFC teams from one division its usually the NFC east. We went 3-1, the Steelers barely went 2-2 against them

Ofcourse the division is ALWAYS going to get over-hyped because the Giants (from the country's largest market) recently won a Superbowl. The Dallas Cowboys get the hoopla no matter what, and the Eagles have been to a few NFC Championships and a Superbowl in the last 10 years. The Redskins are always predicted to be a tough team because of who they sign in the offseason yet they are never nearly as good as they look on paper.

I actually thought the AFC South would lay claim to that this year. But Houston just cant seem to put it together.

Houston never seems to pull it together, they are like the Bengals of that Division they look good on paper and play just enough decent games to get people to think that they are right around the corner from contending

I think once the Bengals get their stuff in order, our division will on par with the NFC East. We both will have 3 legitimate playoff contenders and one JV team.

The NFC East would still be tougher if the Bengals are legit(which I think they are). As bad the Redskins are, they would maul the Browns.

In terms of whos the Tuffest, I think its fair to say that the Afc North is. Simply becuz we are the 2 most physical Defenses in the league. As far as whos best is concerned, best could mean a variety of things.

The reason for all of this is 1) the large markets, and 2) all of the teams (even the Deadskins) are very good football teams. Dallas has an explosive offense and a very good defense, they just can never get it together in winter when it counts. Philly has been to more NFC Championship games than any other team in the NFC. The Giants are again not only a balanced team, but come from the biggest market in the US (which is the same reason why the Jets are getting so much hype). In 2007, 3 out of 4 teams from the NFC east went to the playoffs. Plus those rivalries are classic.

I agree with everything you've said about the Giants, Jets and Eagles. However, the Deadskins bein a very good football team, and the Cowgirls having a Very Good Defense, I totally disagree. But, the rest of your post was accurate.

It's all hype, in the Ravens' case, they tore the NFC East ( with the exception of the Giants ) a huge new butthole last season. And as for AFC vs. NFC overall, the NFC hasn't won the interconference series since 1996. The current record for the Ravens vs. NFC cpmpetition is somewhere in the order of 23-12 since the year 2000. We own the NFC.

The NFC East has, in fact, sent more teams to the playoffs than any other division since 2000.
NFC East - 18 (PHI 7, NYG 6, DAL 3, WAS 2)
AFC South - 15 (IND 8, TEN 5, JAC 2, HOU 0)
AFC North - 13 (PIT 6, BAL 5, CLE 1, CIN 1)
AFC West - 13 (SD 4, DEN 4, OAK 3, KC 2)
AFC East - 12 (NE 6, NYJ 3, MIA 3, BUF 0)
NFC South - 12 (TB 4, ATL 3, CAR 3, NO 2)
NFC West - 12 (SEA 5, STL 4, SF 2, ARI 1)
NFC North - 11 (GB 5, CHI 3, MIN 3, DET 0)

Since the division realignment in 2002:
NFC East - 15
AFC South - 13
AFC North - 10
AFC West - 10
NFC South - 10
AFC East - 9
NFC West - 9
NFC North - 8

The teams in the NFC East have a combined 19 Super Bowl appearances and eleven wins, which is the largest in each catergory out of any division in the NFL.
The division is probably considered the toughest because there are many intense, physical rivalries among the four teams.
Last year all of the teams in the NFC East boasted top ten total defenses (only the Cowboys finished outside of the top five), and none of the teams had losing records.
Currently, the NFC East teams boast an 8-4 record which ties the NFC North for the best win loss record in the NFL.

hahahaha, Houston? At least they have one win. I'd say that the Titans are the disappointment in that division this year.

6 NFC Championship games: one win.
1 Super Bowl appearance: zero wins.

That's why Andy Reid will try ANYTHING from here on out. Including signing Mike Vick.

I was going to say they always seem to have of the teams advance in the playoffs. Although lately it seems to be either NY or PHI.

I think this is more a reflection of the rest of the NFC than anything else.

How many SB's has the NFC East won in the same time span?
