Thoughts On Kruger

48 posts in this topic

During the chat Ken Murray responds to a question about Kruger by basically saying Kruger needs to change his attitude. Murray suggests that rumors of Kruger refusing to play special teams may be true.

Even if he hasn't refued to and is just really bad at it this is not a good sign. We considered trading out of the first round to grab him with our 1st overall pick. Can you imagine a Ravens first draft pick not even being active on gameday?

I'm trying to remember if Kruger played any special teams in the preseason. I remember he started in place of Suggs so maybe he didn't. Anyone know for sure?

I'm not sure if he played special teams or not but a rookie acting this way is complete BS. You need to earn your way onto the starting line up.

This is the same they of speculation that was going on with Cmac that he was having a bad attitude and we see what happened with him...although i think it was more than just an attitude problem

Yeah. If I remember correctly being unactive for the first game came as a complete shock to Kruger. He may have reacted poorly and is now in Harbaughs doghouse.

I hate to speculate but c'mon. With the kicking specialist eliminated we should have room for one non starter to not have to play special teams.

I'm not going to judge Paul Kruger.

If he is the guy that Ken Murray says he is, then he needs an attitude adjustment. However, I don't think that's the whole story. There must be a reason why he's not dressed up. He did play well in the preseason.

This has been one of the biggest surprises of the season. It'll be interesting to see when and even if we will see him in a regular season game.

All of our Linebackers are playing well. We already have a pass-rushing OLB/DE in Suggs. I really think that Kruger is being groomed for Pryce's replacement.

And who is he supposed to replace in the lineup?
[/quote]
Pyrce. Kruger can play in 3rd down situations. hes gotta prove himself. If hes better than Pyrce then i think we can trade Pyrce and were get a upgrade in the draft. Like get a WR with Sprint speed and then Flacco can throw longer bombs for asn instant quick 6.

Thanks for that link ravensfan160. Murray doesn't pull any punches does he? Is he really as "on the inside" as he intimates? Maybe Kruger is just not succeeding on ST and needs to develop more. Not sure how much of this is media-created drama vs reality.

I think this is what will happen, he is not as fast as our other linebackers and he is a big boy already. He could be around 285 next year if this is what the Ravens are doing.

We wont get any value for Pryce that will outweight what he does for us. Kruger needs to prove himself on special teams, just like 85% of the players that come up in the NFL are forced to do.

Get a WR with sprint speed? Speed isn't everything, we cut Figurs who ran one of the fastest 40 times in combine history.

Plus, Clayton is fast.

Pyrce is former pro bowl, I dont see Kruger getting DE until Pryce retires. Trevor still has a satisfactory amount of performance left. As for Jarret Johnsons successor I think Barnes and McLain are ahead of Kruger for LOLB. I hope we dont have a pre maddona on our hands. The last time a rookie started on defense was Landry after we lost Demps.

Clayton is average speed but has above average agility, vision, and balance. Figurs looked improved this off-season at the wide reciever position. WR takes 3 years we didnt give Figurs enough time. Unfortunately we didnt have time for projects and investment at that position. Lions may have a gem if he is still signed with them.

I think it's a requirement for Baltimore beat writers to claim they're on the inside and pick against us...

I have been kind of pondering why he hasn't been dressing for the games and his attitude could be the reason, but I think that he isn't dressing because he really isn't needed defensively in my opinion. Also I remember hearing something about us drafting him with the intentions of added 20-25 pounds planning for him to replace Trevor Pryce, so in a sense he is a project. I mean I couldn't imagine him not being a good special teams player, but then again we haven't been able to watch him regularly.

Well, Harbaugh said in his press conference today:

“Paul has been practicing with special teams from the day he got here, just like he’s practicing with defense. He’s doing a good job. He works really hard. At some point in time, he’s going to be really important to us. He’s going to be up and active and playing in a game. Until that time, he’s important to us for what he’s doing in practice. Paul has a great future. He works really hard at it, and he’s a good football player.”

I know coaches always obfuscate things, but if you take him at his word, the situation is just fine and we're bringing him along.

Would love to see him ripping it up and Demetrius getting big plays. Give it time, I guess.

You always have to be skeptical with the media. They were trying to bait TO for a story yesterday, create drama where there is none. They're basically professional rumormongers, because that's what ostensibly makes good headlines.

I call BS.

If Kruger really is refusing to play special teams it would be because he's a bad gunner and doesnt want to be a liability.

Mason might retire after this season. If Ravens go to the Super bowl Ray,,Ed Reed and Mason might anounce retirement cause thats how they like to end their career right where when went to school University of Miami. Just like the Goose Tony Siragusa ended his career in Pittsburgh where he was from on that last game in 2001 season. So think about that.It might be a good idea trade Pryce for top draft pick and get Jacoby Ford for the future.

Again, case in point...you're a funny dude. I mean no disrespect, you just say some funny stuff.

Ray and Ed will not retire after this year and Pryce will not garner a top draft pick.
