BloodRaven

State Of The Steelers

62 posts in this topic

This is the sum of what I found:

"There has been speculation that the Steelers will host the Ravens during the regular-season opener played the Thursday night after Labor Day."

I wanted to ask you something. How do you feel about the Steelers upcoming game against the Chargers?

can troy polumalu make that much of a difference i know he is a really talented player but come on 2 close loses in the final quarter is unnaceptable.
also if we could play them early in the season we could of manhandle them.
i know they will play much better in the next half of the season

Go Ravens 3-0 feels so good baby woooooooo!!!!!

Please Move. It sickens me enough that there are Steeler fans on this forum talking about the Ravens , lets not pay any attention to the Squeelers or if you want to do it in off topic. This is the Ravens section, I want to talk about Ravens...hence why Im a Ravens fan not a Stealers fan.

Of the 29 turnovers we had last year, Troy only had about 5-6 of them. It's a team failure.
We've already moved Sweed down about 2 spots on the depth chart and resigned Carey Davis. My feeling is that we're just slow coming out of the gate.

Wouldn't have anything to do with those purple glasses of yours, would it?

BTW - This really should be in the "other NFL teams" section.

I mean in all seriousness though there are already several topics on this in the Off-Topic section. Don't know why people have to keep making these threads when all we want to talk about in this section is our team, not another teams woes. Especially a rivals.

Maybe I need to get my eyes checked... again, but I'm really not seeing anything.

I already know that the Ravens made a request about the schedule, but I don't see anything in your links that definitively says the Ravens and Steelers would otherwise have played in week 1.

Back to the Steelers: from what you've seen of the previous 3 games, how do you think the Steelers will fair against the Bolts?

So Warden (on a side topic) what you think of this kid Mike Wallace. You think he will supplant Sweed as the #3 WR? What do you expect from him as the season moves on?

I hear ya, but I also understand it. Only one team stood between you and the SB last year. Now, Flacco is one year older and mature in his postion; the Ravens are playing great and are 3-0 and their nemisis is sruggling. I'd be excited too.

He already has. He's caught everything Ben has thrown to him (had over 100 yards Sunday). He is the real deal....and a draft steal in the 3rd round.
I love the guy!

It came from a reporter at the B-More Sun. Don't know what to tell you. No one seemed to question it when the story was brand new and there was no shortage of info. Now months later it's a question mark??

If I judge what I've seen the last two weeks, I'd say we're going to be 1-3. But I'm hoping for an improvement and a win....and I expect to get just that. This game makes me miss Troy. He's just the play maker who's tailor-made for a Phillip Rivers match-up, but the fact is he won't play so Carter and Townsend will likely split time at SS.

<.< I could have sworn he had seven in '08, and in in doing so tied for second in the league in interceptions (along with about 3 other players). I do hope you're right though. It would be scary if I had actually memorized Steeler stats.

It's ironic that we're on the topic of Sweed. I was just on another forum and found this article:

He's right, there were all these reports. I'll find one. The commentators even talked about it during the game.

What really ticks me off is that we just had to put FB Frank "ineffective" Summers on the IR for what Mike Tomlin termed as a "mysterious back injury." Ironic considering that just yesterday there was an article suggesting that the Steelers may head in another direction (and cut Summers). It would seem that most Chargers fans agree with you... although some have said that they were close to winning in the playoffs when Troy P. was there. I didn't watch the game, so I wouldn't know.

Double misspelling! :P

Well don't worry, I looked it up and I was right.

Despite the recent rookie phenoms, I keep thinking that it's a little soon to judge some of the players from last year's draft, but it doesn't matter to me.

Like I said, I found it on another team's forum (no, not Steeler Fever).

Secondly: What a coincidence. Now he cannot be cut; it's funny how those injuries show up just in the nick of time.

Read the article: It states that it usually takes years but that at least Mendy and Sweed are "doing thier worst to disprove that."

Our rookie FB. And you are exactly right. Jerome Bettis did the same thing in like 1999 or 2000 (?). The only problem is, Frank Summers is no Jerome Bettis.

Exactly. Did you see that TD drop??? It was worse than the one he dropped against the Ravens in the AFCCG. Shaun McDonald is a good #4 (he's actually a good #3) and Wallace has been tearing it up.

I like that mike wallace from ole miss i thought we would of took him last years draft. Also good luck with the steelers against the chargers cause that is a tough match up.

this might not be the main reason why, but during training camp, some people were saying that Tomlin was keeping the camp way too loose and the camp is not very disciplined or something. Could that maybe have played a role in the sloppy showing of the Steelers?

in my opinion, the Steelers will be back but the slow start will haunt them a little and they will finish 10-6. No real reason but I just have a feeling the Bengals won't make it to the playoffs, I say they come close but fail at 9-7.

I love me some Mike Wallace. lol

Thanks. It will be a tough one. I'd feel more confident with Troy in there for this one, but we will be playing with more of a sense of urgency....I hope. Good teams to lose three in a row. Not many of them anyway.

His camp wasn't as soft as it was implied to be. He darn near killed them in his first year and it hurt them down the road. Not sure what he did last year, but this year he focused a lot on the mental aspect of starting from scratch. With that said, it may be playing a small part but I doubt the effects of a lighter camp would last the way the effects of an excrutiating camp would.

Right now, I can't see them missing the post-season. When we have 5-6 in the loss column and half our schedule left I'll get nervous. We have a great coach and some good leaders (not to mention great talent) on that team.

Still I can't believe how bad Limas Sweed and Rashad Mendenhall are, thats the universes way of balancing things out I guess

Limas Sweed: Yes.
Rashard Mendenhall: the jury is still out.

What's your expert opinion on why he is "so bad?"

Correct me if Im wrong, but isn't he dropping down the depth chart in hilarious fashion? take the endzone fail against the Bengals

Dropping down the depth chart at break-neck speed: Yes.
Hilarious fashion? I guess that depends on your point of view.

He cost us last weeks game and cost us points in the AFCCG. Mendy showed a few flashes of brilliance in Chicago, but he's in Tomlin's doghouse for not paying attention to detail.
