Nothing interesting about it. I've been contemplating leaving the Skins for a while now. Today was just the icing on the cake for me. I'm a huge Ray Lewis fan since he went to Miami. Can't wait to start cheering for this team full-time now. Go Ravens!!!

Unlike most teams in the NFL, Ravens fans are loyal -- win or lose. And we can sniff the fakers out for miles. (Leers.) Just kidding. Welcome aboard!

While I'm new to the forum, I've been a fan of the team since they moved to Baltimore. Welcome to a chance to root for a team with a huge future ahead of it, I think I can speak for most when I say that we're glad you've seen the light!

Thanks to all who have welcomed me to the Ravens forum. I'm looking forward to seeing this team do great things this season. So far, so good.

I'm just quite leery of newbies to the forums after the impressive start of the season.

And Raven fans are loyal, win or lose. There is no joking about that. The old trend of Good Season-Bad Season-Good Season-Repeat means you have to be loyal, win or lose. But it looks as if Flacco, Lewis, Reed, and company are out to break the trend. So I can't help but suspect bandwagoners to appear eventually.

It is interesting because you guys lost to the Lions and not long afterwards, you change teams. Not judging you or anything. Fans just need to stay loyal to their teams, in my view. Lions fans stayed loyal, albeit disgruntled. Just because a team is bad now does not mean it will forever (unless, well, you're the Browns, then you have one good season, and back on the downhill slope). And well, your "Go Ravens!!!" sounds kind of forced to me. But hey, welcome regardless.

LOL...good to have new fans regardless of the reason...I'd agree with what others have posted regarding "what if the Ravens had been the ones with a losing start..." but to each their own...

While some may be leery about newbies coming to the Ravens, let me clear the air at least from my perspective. Some of your arguments I can understand, however, at the same time, when you have watched a franchise not do jack crap since they last won a Super Bowl and continue to go down the tubes, you have to wake up and realize it's time to do what you think is right for you. If the Ravens lose, they lose, but here's why I see the Ravens are different than the Redskins. The Ravens won the Super Bowl in 2000, destroying the Giants and not allowing a single offensive TD. They had their ups and downs since then, but they have always been competitive and came to play each game. They went through a rebuilding phase (in my eyes) and look at what they are doing. Now, look at the Redskins. Dan Snyder is trying to buy a frickin' championship. He's not taking young talent and grooming them to be stars for years. He's taking the fans' money and not giving a crap about the franchise. He's destroying a once great franchise. It would have been nice if he had realized he has no clue what he's doing and hired a GM to do the right things, but his head is so far up his @$$ he doesn't do the right thing. In my eyes, the Ravens have an owner and management who are willing to build a franchise that will win for a long, long time. I like that and respect that. If people want to question the reasons why I became a Ravens' fan, so be it. While acceptance is nice to have from the current Ravens' fan base, it's not a requirement. The Redskins will always be the first time I cheered for and may cheer for them again someday, but I'd much rather cheer for a team who wants to win and is going about winning and building a franchise the right way. Let's Go Ravens!!! (And believe me - it's not forced.)

I understand and respect that. It's always nice to have genuine fans, I just am not keen on bandwagon fans. It's not that I feel that you can't cheer for who you want to. It's that when you spend your time cheering for whoever is on top at any given year, how can you call yourself a fan? Part of being a fan is feeling the highs of your team winning and the lows of your team losing. Both the close and blowout games. Bandwagon fans aren't getting the full experience as an NFL fan.

Demon, trust me when I tell you I've been through the highs and lows with a team before I cut them loose. I stopped cheering for the Orioles in the late 90's when they couldn't do anything. Now, I'm a Red Sox fan and have been a fan since the 98-99 season. I can totally understand your statement above and respect your opinion. I've sat through the highs and lows of the Redskins, but when you're not seeing any sign of improvement, you can get turned off to what you're seeing and look elsewhere. I'm not trying to have any arguments or feuds with anyone on here. I'm looking to cheer for the Ravens and supporting them. Their management is proving how they can build a good, quality team that can last for a long time. I like that and respect that. Demon, I look forward to cheering the Ravens along with you during the seasons.

Oh.. no, no. I wasn't directing that comment about highs and lows. towards you. You made it clear that you've been through the highs and lows of the Skins. That was just part of my rant on Bandwagon fans, is all.

Hello my brothers and sisters in Ravens Land. I too am new to this forum. Being new does not necessarily make you a bandwagoner! I have been a Baltimore Fan my entire life. I just thought maybe it is time for me to express some of my opinions. I have been reading posts here for a long time and I get a kick out of some of the things I read. I am extremely excited about this year. As many have said before me "Last Year Was Just The Beginning" See ya around.

No it doesn't. But it is suspicious when a bunch of new members appear the day of and after we go 3-0 and look very good doing it.

Wouldn't you rather have Raven bandwagoners than lets say Steeler bandwagoners? I agree they are annoying but it just goes to prove what a great team we are. Hey I say paint it purple and come on Sunday!

A Bandwagoner is someone who can't remain faithful to a team through the tough times. I "like" other NFL teams, but do not consider myself a "fan" of these teams and find it rather pathetic when people jump ship and go for the other guys just because they have a winning record. Dropped the O's for the Sox? Why not just make the Yankees your favorite team then have something to celebrate every other year? I know backing the Skins for years must have drove you crazy, with a front office like theirs Im suprised the good folks in Washington haven't lynched Snyder yet.

When I first started watching football it was due to getting grounded (yes, I was a bad boy) for an entire month one year. Living in Ontario Canada and being at the peak of the Jim Kelly era, I was used to having Bills games rammed down my throat, followed by a heavy dose of Skins, G-men and Dallas games. I liked these teams, but wouldn't have considered myself a fan. I have always found defensive stands inside the 5 to be more exciting than any 80 yd touchdown bomb hence the draw to the Ravens. Going through what we have gone through with Boller and the lot has made the year 2000 seem like it was 50 years ago, but we stuck through it and only last year were rewarded with what seems like a light at the end of the tunnel.

I'm starting to wonder how many plastic Steelers fans are jumping ship in the wake of a 1-2 start?

I was born and raised a Baltimore Colt and Orioles fan. To this day I still love my Orioles. The year I graduated High School some idiot decided to steal my beloved BALTIMORE COLTS from me. The following year I chose to follow Da Bears. I guess that made me sort of a bandwagoner. From the very moment of hearing that Baltimore was possibly getting our new team I had to let Da Bears go. I have been in love with our team since. Through thick and thin, win or lose I will never be a fan of any other NFL team...

I'd rather not have to deal with any bandwagon fans. I don't mind Steeler fans, we have a few here that are the "good" kind of Steeler fan. Smart, not arrogant, and knowledgeable about football. I'd much rather talk to an actual fan who knows the ins and outs of their team, then someone who just knows the guy who makes plays and wins games, without knowing more then two people on their "team". Makes football talk more interesting.

I understand your point. All I was saying is, for example, if I was in a crowded room of people watching the game between the Ravens and Steelers, I would rather be surrounded by purple than black and gold. I know where to go to carry on good football conversation. You can tell in the first fifteen seconds whether or not someone is a true fan or not. There is always gonna be one or two chicks wearing a jersey just because they think a player is cute. I guess that bothers you too?

I can't believe the "lectures" going on in this forum about what a fan is or should be. Will I cheer for the Redskins again? Yeah, some day. However, this does not stop me from supporting a team who is going about things the right way to build a winning team. Stop with all the damn "lectures" and worrying about bandwagoners and let's just cheer for the teams we like and support them.

Sorry to hear that you will be cheering for the Redskins. Not much to cheer for. Except maybe the last game of the season when they play the Chargers. Good Luck with that.

Dan, trust me. I know they're sorry. I'm just tired of hearing people criticize someone because they choose to root for another team now. It's not about being a bandwagoner. To me, it's about recognizing a good team and knowing when your team is playing like crap and has for a long, long time. If I knew I would catch so much grief for deciding to cheer for the Ravens now, I wouldn't have joined the forum. This is ridiculous. :34853_doh:

No worries, Dan. The Skins management gets under my skin. I don't have hatred for the team - just a strong dislike for how they're playing and their ownership/management. In my opinion, if someone has a problem w/ me cheering for both teams, so be it. But, I will be giving more attention to the Ravens this year and probably for the forseeable future.

Just because I can put together more than two sentences and string together a paragraph means I'm "lecturing"? That's silly. I'm sorry I have more than 15 words to say on any given subject.

I'm sorry? It's painfully obvious "what a fan is or should be". I do not consider a bandwagoner a fan, because they do not follow a team, they follow wins. You may as well say your favorite team is the NFL W's, because that is what you cheer for. So do not patronize others for stating what their definition is of a fan.

Hell, even you stated that you decided to follow the Ravens because they have "a team built to win". Now, I am not, repeat not, calling you a bandwagon fan, but that is all bandwagoners care about. You want loyal fans, you look at Browns and Lions (and to a lesser degree, Ravens) fans.

Who cares how many teams you cheer for? That's your choice.

You want to come in here and tell people to stop with the "lectures" and worrying about bandwagoners, well, sorry. But some people do worry about bandwagon fans, because we like talking to people who know the Ravens, not just their wins.
