Are The Ravens Officially The Best Team In The Afc North, After The Steelers Loss?

68 posts in this topic

Why do you keep making threads with questions that have already been stated numerous times, with your initial post just one sentence? Seems to me you're just boosting your post count.

Anyways, yes. As of right now we are the best, hopefully the trend continues. We can only find out as the season goes on.

we wont know until we've beaten the bengals and the steelers, at least once, if not twice.

if the bengals hadn't lost to that freak tip in week 1, they would have the more impressive record.

beating Green Bay and the Steelers is, in a sense, more impressive than our record of beating the Chiefs, Chargers, and Browns.

that said, i do think we'll win the division and defeat out division mates in glorious fashion.

So you don't think we'll win the division? I'm still confident that we can, but maybe you're right, maybe we drop one to the Steelers and one to the Bengals and we lose the division, but I still look at us as a playoff team.

Meh, bengals are nothing to worry about. we can put up consistent points unlike some other teams in black and yellow.

The Bengals are good...for the Bengals. Otherwise, they're playing sloppy. One to three good drives in a game does not make them a "good" team. Not to mention, Pittsburgh has been horrendous (not that I mind). With this season, Baltimore has taken the spot (as of now) of the dominate AFC North team, dangerous on both sides of the ball. Cincinnati is going to struggle containing Flacco, McClain, Rice, and McGahee. Not to mention, move the ball against the Ravens defense.

Im kind of getting worried about the Bengals now, they are looking pretty legit
meh, Pittsburgh gave that game away.

I said in some thread before the season that the Bungholes had a good draft and some solid offseason moves, but all it would amount to is a couple of upsets and a 6-10 record.

They really played like crap today, but fortunately for us, Pittsburgh played even worse. I'll worry about the Bungholes if they started dominating people and convincingly win a few games, rather than backing into them like they did today.

I'm pretty confident that we can take the division. It'll be even easier with Pittsburgh struggling to finish out games and dropping wins without Polamalu. I don't consider Cincinnati a huge threat, but they're not going to be overlooked either. The Ravens are focused on one game at a time and don't care if a team is considered good or not. We came out today against the Browns and made sure we did everything we could to win. We came to win and that's the way our team will be for the rest of the year, so I don't see how we can't take the division at the very, very least this year.

Maybe you misread the part where he said, "that said, i do think we'll win the division and defeat out division mates in glorious fashion."

steelers are playing so sloppy. while the Ravens are on absolute fyah, especailly after week 2 win on the tough road game.

my only (small) worry is that will the Steelers rebound when Polamalu comes back? or will they pretty much stay the same or play better but not good enough to beat the ravens

anyhow.. last year, the only reason the steelers beat us 3 times is because our offense wasn't explosive as it is this year and flacco was still a rookie learning his way. Now it's different, we can certainly beat the Steelers and Bengals won't beat us. So yeah, we are the best in AFC North.

In my opinion, it's still far too early to assess any of this. The only way we will find out if we are the best team in the division is to actually play all of the other teams in our division, not compare unrelated games. The transitive property does not work in sports, especially the NFL. Now, the Ravens look like an extremely strong team with a lot of potential this year. They're definitely making a case to be one of the best. But it's just too early to tell.

PS. Does anyone remember the Bills sitting pretty atop the AFC East at 5-1 last year? Same concept..

I just wanted to point out the fact that the Steelers offense is struggling and Polamalu is on defense, so even when they get him back, if Worthlisberger doesn't get his act together then they'll keep losing or barely winning.

Well we are the best team because our record merits so, but I still need to see us win against the Steelers to claim the division ours.

I think both aspects could continue to get better, mainly because if you flat line your performance.... it like most living things will die..

but our defense has been extremely sloppy, yeah they played good against the browns... but its the browns... our 2nd test will come next week against the Pats.. maybe not as big as we'd like to think, but still a good test for us

1) that defense is meant to carry the offense, and the offense is just there to manage games, and rest the D..
2) polamalu is the leader of that team.... so its not rare to see a drop off in performance if your leader/biggest game changer is out

I would consider Polamolu the leader of the defense, but i still don't understand why the offense would be effected by his absense, according to idiot Steeler fans, Saint Ben is their almighty leader!
