Merged: Steelers Lose To Bengals, Week 3!

42 posts in this topic

Hell yeah thank you Cincy! The Ravens are in perfect position to take the division. The only ones who can keep them from doing so are themselves. Sure, we still have to deal with the Steelers and Bengals twice each and it's early, but I think we have a realistic shot at beating both of them. Today sure was a good day to be a Ravens fan.

Can't believe the Bengals beat the Steelers! Can't believe I'd actually be happy for a Cincinnati victory. Sure, this means the Bengals are that much closer to the Ravens -- but this also means the Steelers are that much further from the Ravens!

This should make Week 5 against the Bengals a very interesting battle for first place in the AFC North, assuming both teams keep their footing by then. Pittsburgh is now 0-2 without Troy Polamalu.

Looks like the Bengals sealed the deal. How epic!

My roommate is a Steelers fan (born and raised in Ocean City, MD)... classic case of bandwagon syndrome. If anybody has any tissues... he could use some right now.

It's not that the Bengals played well, they didn't until the last drive. Pittsburgh played sloppy too, have been since the season started, mostly. I don't think the Bengals game will be a "true" battle for the AFC North. The Bengals may have beat the Steelers and Packers, but the Ravens offense is on fire this year, and I don't really think the Bengals' Defense can stop it.

They really don't.

Their offense has flashes of greatness going back to their 2005 season, but they struggle to get into the endzone. Their defense has been much better than expected, though. Better than last year, anyway...

haha those threads popped up quick huh? I missed the actual play that won them the game, but I heard my brother shout in the other room so I checked the score to be pleasantly surprised. Who would have thought that by this time Cincy would be ahead of Pittsburgh? Can't complain, I'd rather see them win than the Steelers. I can't say I'm worried about them though. Yeah they beat the Steelers but like you said Pitt didn't have Polamalu and the Bengals barely pulled it off in the end. I think we have a realistic chance to take the division this year.

The thing about the Bengals is that they are such a wildcard (not in the playoff sense). You never know which Bengals you are going to get... any given weekend they could look like one of the better teams in the league or one of the worst.

I didn't say they don't look good, but they aren't "dangerous" by any means, as far as a threat to the Ravens.

Despite this, it will make me happy if we smash the Bengals when their turn comes around, considering they've beaten two teams now that people were picking to go to the superbowl in Pittsburgh and Green Bay

You see!!! Its The Troy Polamalu effect! Steelers are defenseless without him on the Field. Its like Ray Lewis is injured. If Ray Lewis ever gets hurt out of action for 6 weeks Ravens are beatable its that simple! The only Reason Steelers win and get to post season because of Big Ben and Troy Polamalu. Now when Big Ben is hurt Steelers are screwed! Troy Polamalu gets hurt Steelers are screwed! Ether way theyre screwed! Im Calling it right now!! Steelers will lose next week to Detroit!! Im taking my bet all the way to vegas!

So I guess I can't quite call them the Bungles for now :P

So do we have a bit of a challenge on our hands in two weeks? I think we had better get better on our kick returns.

I know Detroit beat the Redskins but I don't think that, even when coupled wth the lack of Polamalu, is enough to be able to declare something like this. The Steelers are still, though I hate to say it, a tough team without Troy. It'll still take a lot of effort to come away with a win. Good teams aren't made by one person, though that one person may have a large role within the defense. In the end on team has to outplay the other, regardless of who is on the field at the time.

Go tell that to the Chicago Bulls fans when they had Micheal Jordan. When is the last time the Bulls went to the NBA Championship without Micheal Jordan?

You're comparing basketball players to football players. In the NBA, a single player can make a team look phenominal. In football, the individual players have to win by acting as a team. The impact of losing a player on an nfl team is much less than in the NBA. The only way i can see it as truly gamechanging is if a star QB goes down. That directly affects the effectiveness of the offense, but I think overall there are few players who, if injured, cause the team to lose.

Yeah the way Chargers played today theyre on fire. If Steelers trail at halftime expect to hear a lot of boos in Pittsburgh. Heres a stat for you folks. Steelers are now winless on the road this season. So this is why its so importaint not to sell your tickets on EBAY and if you dont want to go to the game sell it to your neighbor or Co Worker but dont sell them on EBAY! Lets keep the Ravens home advantge and not Steeler nation.

You know what they ALL have in common? INCREDIBLE talent all throughout the team.

Unlike the NBA, it is extremely rare for an NFL player to reach greatness without a talented team supporting him.
