How Did Our Secondary Do This Week?

32 posts in this topic

Not nearly as bad as the Browns.

well 5 ints so, some improvement was shown. They still gave up more yards then they should have.

I am wondering how the secondary did against the Browns. Judging by the score I would say pretty good.

They handled Quinn outstandingly and the change in speed of Anderson caused a little adjustment period, but they adapted. A little bit of the 'great position, but no hand on ball' stuff, but infinitely better than last week.

The interceptions = right place, right time. Much better.

Not sippin hatorade but I am still very worried about the secondary especially since we are going to Foxboro next week.

True but this was a good win to build confidence with the interceptions and stuff.

Win or lose next week, I just want us to be competitive. Even though we we're clickin' on all cylinders today, as long as we play with the same intensity like we did this week, then we got a good chance to win.

Agreed - we looked great today, but the Browns are pretty JV. Next week will definitely be a good test. NE looked much more solid today than they did last. Still though, we looked extremely fundamentally sound today. If we play like that next weekend I think we'll do well.

If Welker doesn't play next week, it should be more of the same.

They don't have a Sproles type to Run or hit the flats.

I can understand your concern, but for the 2nd time in 3 weeks the Ravens have given up less then 200 passing yards.

I think we can play better, but I always think ther is room for improvement because we will never be prefect.

However this secondary has played well. I think we missed about 2 picks this game and give up one pass of over 15 yards I think.

Next week will be a huge test, but for this week the secondary was great.

Like I said in another thread, i'll be completely comfortable with the secondary when they have this type of performance against a team that actually has an offense.

I agree. Let's see if we can keep it up with having to cover Moss and Welker, and Watson next week. I also think this team playes better it seems after being criticized. Keyshawn Johnson calls our WRs bums, we put up 501 yards. After the SD game, not sure about the media but I definitly think they read what everybody said on here about how they played and they stepped up with 4 INTs.

They played well but consider the competition. The Browns WR corps is average at best and of the 5 int's 2-3 were stupid throws. Lets discuss this further after next week's game.

First off it was only 4 INTs and they were ALL bad throws. the one to Foxworth should never have been thrown there, he was sitting on it. The one Landry got was thrown into triple coverage. Ayanbadejo's was a total gimme. He literally threw it right to him when he should have thrown it away. The possible exception was Reed's pick, that was just a really good play by Reed.

One things for sure. I saved my voice this week. I was yelling and screaming at the secondary more than the good things our offense did. I think the only frustrating play of the entire game was a screen pass that Gregg and Ngata should have had wrapped up for -5 yards but let the guy squeak through for +7or8 yards. that was IT for the game.

It sure is fun watching our secondary when we have a 2 score lead! But the laterals.....SCARY!!!!
[/quote]

I agree. I hate seeing that look in their eyes, when they're searching for somebody to lateral. I'm like ----NOOOOOO!!!!-----

One of these times their going to lateral and miss a sprinting WR that takes it for a TD.

But lately I've also felt like "hey they're having fun out there, let them."

I know, that scares the crap outta me too. Wonder what the coaches think about it, lol.

Both Anderson and Quinn played too poorly for me to say the secondary stepped up but in a way, they did. Foxworth's interception was a poorly thrown ball from Quinn but you have to give Foxworth credit for having the confidence to sit on the route and break on the ball. Foxworth could've had a pick 6 later in the game on another bad throw but dropped it. Landry's interception was also on a poor throw but he was in good position and made a play a on the ball. Reed's interception was simply a good play.

Alright everybody stop thinking play offs or supper bowl. It is only three games into the season and two of the teams they played were not very good and the one that was good could not put the ball across the goal line when they got into the red zone . The Ravens defence is not the same as a Rex Ryan D That went to New York with Rex no matter what Ray Lawis says. But keep pulling for them anyway . They have many games to play and most will not be as easy as the first three. As I have said before look out for the New York Jets Ryan has them beleaving and playing like a supper bowl team . Now if the Ravens beat the Patriots in New England then you may start thinking play offs

Man, I think Rex should run for president. I really had no idea he was the core of everything Ravens. We might as well give up now, Rex is gone. I really believe that Rex Ryan benefited from Ray Lewis not the other way around.

Both times, Landry to Reed... They probably practice laterals in practice with eachother. Can't imagine the coaches get too pissed off. When Reed has his hands on the ball good things happen.
