For now, I just want to go 1-0 this week.

;)

yeah we should focus on 1-0 every week, so we can go 19-0

Its possible, if we pick up all the pieces and put them together and everything starts to click. But we still have to play the Colts and the Steelers twice. So....

Here's your explanation:
We play playoff caliber teams, Patriots, Vikings, Colts, Steelers
We play NFC teams that you never know might happen: Packers, Bears
Then you have "trap" games (the Ravens dont usually lose, but could):Browns, Lions, Raiders, Broncos.

We will lose somewhere down the line, but not today
For every reason you can think of why the Ravens won't go 16-0, you can come up with as many valid reasons why they can go 16-0.

I'm not saying we go 16-0, but here's an arguement that's opposite your explanation.

You said we play playoff Caliber teams. All of those teams has early season concerns.

Pats, defense looks soft and offense isn't clicking. How much will they improve by next week?

Vikes, their defense hasn't played very well against teams like the Lions and Browns. They had been able to rely on AP to run the ball all 4 quarters. Can they expect the same a/ainst the Ravens D? Will Frave be able to put this team on his back in 3 weeks?

Colts, defense looks to be back to being soft against the run, the Ravens run the ball as well as anyone. It'll be a tough game for us because they are a monkey on our backs. The Ravens offense could be the deciding factor in that game.

Steelers, we all know how tough the 2 teams play each other. Everyone talks about the 3 losses last year, but no body really seems to break those games down. We lost the 2 regular season games by a total of 7 points. With a really young and inexperience offense, the Ravens still held leads late in those games. Yea we lost but were one play(or call) away from winning. We'll see how it plays out this year. However I will add this, the last time the Ravens had atleast a decent offense was in 2006 and that season the Ravens beat the Steelers in 2 games by a combine score of like 56-7. So that's something to keep in mind.

As for the games against teams we should beat. Well each year a team shows up and is better then everyone thinks. With that said, the Ravens showed last year that they not only beat the teams they should, but they buried them. So let's see how this year is.

Now like I said I'm not saying we will go 16-0, but its possible. I'd rather focus on being 1-0 each week.

Its the NFL, anything can happen, during any season, any quarter season, any game... I'm not saying that its not possible, or thats it's even likely... I've just seen too many crazy things in the NFL to stand on either side

if our d could return to good form with our offense hitting on all cylinders, i think it "could" be possible. Our D needs to get wit it though. Oour boys are scoring very easily now, so all we need is some strong defensive stands and TO's.

Every week I think the Ravens have a chance to beat any team - and not a 'the Lions might win' type of chance either. I think the Ravens have a legitimate chance to take each game, week after week.

Explain.

You know how like in the 8th inning, your pitcher has given up a hit yet and than someone says "I wonder if he will throw a perfect game".....yeah, lets not talk about this

Yeah, except they usually start talking about that in the 5th inning...and we're talking about the Ravens in the 2nd inning, lol.

Wow, i didn't realize how many pessimist ravens fans there are............WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oo come on and wake up. Going 16 and 0 has only happened once for a reason. All it takes is a bad bounce or a bad call. And we still play tough teams like the colts and Patriots and Steelers. And the Bengals are much improved. It's not pessimism. It's being realistic. Then what if we sit our starters the last week and pick up a cheap loss but it means nothing. Who cares. I want a Super Bowl.

Yep. What the Pats did in '07 may not happen again for a long time. I'm as excited about this Ravens team as anyone but you have to be realistic. The offense has looked so far and the defense looks to be coming along but the secondary is still a question mark. The Pats, Colts, Vikings, Packers, Steelers(twice), Bengals(twice) all loom on the horizon. You never know what could happen so it's best just to take the season week-by-week.

I was looking at our schedule and truly believe we can go 16-0. Does anyone else think this?
Ryan,
You are not alone, I actually said this when I looked at our schedule, not only are we a lot better offensively but we already played the best team we are going to play and that is San Diego as they match up well against us. Just wait until we beat New England handily next week and go all the way to the bye week without a loss, then people will be talking. The only threat after that is Indianapolis and we owe them big time and will take tham out as well. I do believe we are not only going all the way but we will do it with no loses. Remember this in December fellows you heard it here first.

It takes just one injury or random bounce of the ball for everything you said to be moot. The schedule looks favorable now but you can't predict the future. One week at a time people! Remember 2007? People expected the team to coast before the tough games started but look what happened.

Not with that backfield. I'm going to be happy with a 12-4 season!!

You mean secondary?

I don't think we can do it, its just too long of a season in a league infested with crooked/blind refs. But if we get the 1 or 2 seed, its only 3 games to win the Super Bowl I think we can go undefeated in the postseason ;)

My other question is after the backlash this team got from it's fans after weeks 1 and 2 (which were both wins) how are you guys going to react when we do lose our first game(if it happens).Yes KC should have been a little easier but week one is usually a rough week for most teams.Remember we only beat the Bengals 17-10 in game one last year. And yes San Diego threw all over us week 2 but we beat a SuperBowl contending team in the end.We won that's all that matters we wouldn't have griped last year if we beat the Chargers last year like that.I believe us fans have high expectations of this team as we should be but please when that 0 turns to a 1 in the loss column don't hang our boys out to dry.Sometimes a loss can wake a team up.And the pressure of 16-0 is a pressure i really don't want on our teams shoulders.
I love the Ravens as much as most of you(i question some hearts in here),damn I suffered a minor heart attack during the Chargers game(not an exaggeration,I had to go to the ER due to chest pains)but please remember a loss doesn't mean the end just a hyped up team.

so true way too early for that kind of wishful thinking.
problem teams to come:
next week: Patriots
Week 11: Colts
Week 12 & 16: Steelers (especially if the refs call the inconclusive plays for them like last year) but actually after the way they've been playing they make be less problematic, also with Polamalu out
Week 13: Greenbay if our secondary doesn't get their act together Rodgers will be a problem like Rivers
Week 15: Bears

but despite all this its still only Week 3 & the injuries to come will determine the rest of the year.
i'm just hoping for another playoff year, I think Flacco can do it!

Screw a 16-0 record. A Superbowl victory is the ultimate achievement. We all witnessed the Pats reward after their so-called perfect season. That SB trophy is the only thing im focussed on.

I am not predicting the future, I am saying it is possible, just as your one injury and we lose is possible but as deep as we are all over the field we have a real chance to do it. Lets see what happens in our next three games before we throw this idea out and as far as jinxing goes lets grow up and try to be reasonable. Sometimes in life we are presented challenges and we overcome them other times we do not. I want to believe that anything is possible and I predicted we would go 12-4 last year before the season and I was correct even though naysayers gave me crap all year long. I believe in this team and we can forget about what Pittsburgh and New England and Cincy did last year, lets look at each matchup and try to see who has the best chance to win. Baltimore is 2nd and 5th in four major Offensive Categories we have never been close to in the past and our defense is still steller except for our secondary against a team with very tall receivers. Games are about matchups and SD was our worst matchup. I personally think New England is a great matchup for us. Remember, they lost to the Jets who we beat easily in the Pre-season. I think the next really hard matchup is Indy and by then we might be 9-0.

There is a big difference between a pessimist and a realist. As stated before, to many things can happen to change the season so lets shelve this conversation for a while.
