Raiders: "Rich Gannon Is Not Welcome Here"
Team officials told CBS Sports they did not want Gannon to attend Saturday's television production meetings in advance of Sunday's Raiders-Broncos game, The Chronicle has learned, citing his public criticism of the organization in recent years.

"Rich Gannon is not welcome here," Raiders executive John Herrera said Friday when asked about the ban. "We told CBS we did not want him in our building, we did not want him to be part of our production meeting, and that's where it sits."

Guy does his job, guy gets blacklisted by the team he took to the Super Bowl. Real classy stuff in Oakland.

Gannon being a former-Delaware Blue Hen aside, I'm offended by the audacity the Raiders have in thinking that they can selectively choose who can broadcast their games and who's allowed in production meetings, especially when he's simply doing his job. Such demands are ridiculous and make the Raiders "organization" look even more ridiculous than presumed. I'm surprised that Warren Sapp hasn't also been blacklisted for spilling the beans about how bad his time in Oakland was and why free agents refuse to play there.

Wow........ :o Well I guess if Gannon can't be welcomed there than I guess no reporters are. Thus the circus known as the Raiders continues.....

Come on, someone has to have common sense to know to just shut up, ignore the critics and let your players prove them wrong. Sure Mason said those things about Keyshawn but you didn't hear anyone from the Ravens say Keyshawn isn't allowed within a 100 ft of Westminister... I mean Mason invited him to come there and say it to his face. What happened.... 501 yards were put up.... since than Keyshawn has been quiet. So start winning and maybe he won't critize you as much.

There's a league rule that requires all teams to comply with media requests in regards to the production of each game. So really, the Raiders had no authority to ban Gannon in the first place. SI.com is now reporting that the Raiders have backed down from their demands after intervention by the league.

Still, this makes the Raiders look even worse, if they can't take a little (deserved) criticism from a former player. If they're so vain that they can't recognize how flawed their organization is, then they shouldn't even be in the league anymore.

I keep wondering if the NFL will ever intervene and do something with this organization. Remember what MLB did with Marge Schott? I keep expecting the NFL to do something like that with Al Davis. Or is the NFL content with Oakland being the comedic relief for the league?

As pathetic as this is for Oakland, I wouldn't be too upset if I were Rich Gannon. I'd want to distance myself from the sad, current state of the franchise, especially if they disrespected me the way Oakland did to Gannon.

That's just not fair. That's just not fair. That's my teammate. *sniffle* That's my quarterback.

Haha, man, the funniest thing about that is that after Romo stunk it up last week, TO said (paraphrasing), "Now they understand that all along it wasn't a TO problem, it was a TR problem." That dude is unbalanced, from crying in his defense to blatantly backstabbing him.

We can predict how his tenure here would've gone (probably Ray breaking his jaw).

If you don't want to get criticized then play better.

Barring a experienced player who is now a paid anchor just because he's critical of your team is completely classless. The man is doing his job and is right most of the time. I like Gannon myself.
