Dawan Landry.

As long as he doesn't knock Reed senseless again, he's got my vote as well.

I don't see anything changing this year. We know who our franchise players are already-- Ngata, Reed, Lewis and Suggs.

"Franchise player" is a heavy term to throw around; implies that you are elite--a player that you can build your franchise around. So sorry, I don't ever seeing us being able to build our franchise around guys like Gooden, Landry, or even Gregg.

Maybe in a couple years we can add Kruger to that list. That would be my vote, but since the thread asks "this year", I vote nobody new will step up.

Well, technically I was answering the thread titles question. I think Landy will be a step up player this season. Franchise player, yes, all-together different scenario. You're right.

So far it look like Dawan Landry might have a breakout season. I would like it if Foxworth becomes a true shut-down corner though. We really need someone to step up in that position.

How is Kelley Washington going to step up on Defense? WR/CB hybrid? :P

Fabian's coverage is quite good, but I really want him to bulk up a little and see him A. get more physical and B. WRAP PEOPLE UP. I can deal with the Braylonesque hands, but my posterior puckers up every time anyone with the ball heads his way.

If bulking up wont slow him down, then im all for it. I think the whole bulkin up think doesnt work for everybody. A guy such as Reed is still effective after his over-dose of Protein, lol. But I think he(Fabian)can wrap people up without bulkin up. One of the huge problems with our guys is-tryin to strip or punch the ball out of the receivers hands instead of actually makin a tackle or as you've said "wrap people up". Such lack of discipline causes bigger plays which couldv been prevented. Every team does it. But I think we over-indulge. That's what frustrates me the most about our guys.
