My Review On Madden 10

5 posts in this topic

Its the best madden ever made ea redone madden 10 from 09 they took it back towards like madden 08 with the way they run and hit. And added a crap load of stuff . I mean the presentation and gameplay is like perfect if you dont have madden 10 grab that game , in my op i think its the best madden ever made. Thats just how i feel about madden what does everyone who has madden 10 feel about it?

As much a leap forward Madden 10 is from 09 it still hurts to say that 2K5 is still superior in its representation of football. Madden 10s Dline/Oline interaction needs bigtime work. An example of this is there is never any push forward or backwards with the lineman based on ratings and how good a player actually is. In run blocking the Oline comes out to meet the Dline and then stalemates with Dline attempting to put on moves. Pass plays the Dline meets the Oline and attempts to put on moves, there is very little push at the point of attack. An example of this is how often does a poopass LG meet Ngata at the point of attack and nothing happens in Madden? They simply just coexist when they met and Ngata tries to put a move on him instead of in real life a subpar LG Ngata would push him all the way pack into the HB sometimes and allow Lewis to make the play at the LOS. Also how many times does a Dlineman come unblocked and hit u in the backfield? That never happens in the NFL, now if a Dlineman puts a devastating swim move on thats another story, how about the way a 3-4 defense is represented, why does Ngata or Gregg never get double teamed? In the real NFL you dont double team Ngata and hes going to put ur QB out for 4-6 weeks. Sometimes theres a good pocket formed on pass downs, but not as good as 2K5 was (Madden 09 personal opinion worst football simulation ive ever played). I think the CPU's timing on pass downs is way off, Ive overloaded blitzed before came in untouched in under 2 seconds and the CPU fires off a pass. 2K5 was good at this, a blitzers speed to the QB was relevant to a WR's speed downfield, in Madden sometimes it feels like a WR is 10 yards downfield when my blitzer has only gone 3 yards. Personally dont like how in Madden you can throw off your back foot with so much accuracy and power, takes away from the realism. Yes in real life you can throw off your back foot, but its going to be a floater and you risk an INT if the coverage is placed correctly over the hot read receiver. This is just stuff off the top of my head. Having said all that Madden 10 is the first version in the series that I feel is headed in the right direction in a long, long time. And unless you can update your 2K5 rosters, and live with graphics from 1994 id say Madden 10 is very worth the 60-70 bucks w/e the price is.

i've given up on madden for years. i've never played sega's 2k5. i'm waiting for a competing developer to get the NFL licence. there's another game called Backbreaker but it's ways away from completion (also no NFL licence ). .

I have got NFL 2K5 which is great, cant be bothered to update all the rosters however.

Sounds like this new madden may be worth a look, last one i played was madden 2003....
