Oher's Dominance Is Getting Noticed

41 posts in this topic

Its at the very end but Steve Wyche says that while Sanchez, Harvin, and Louis Murphy are getting all the attention, Oher is a force to be reckoned with.

I just love too how Oher was the 4th OT taken. Rams, Jaguars, and Bengals eat your hearts out. You're paying a heck of a lot more for not as great a player.

It's hard to believe he was the fourth tackle taken in the draft. Those other three teams really missed the boat! ;)

Yeah. Its sad to say but Oher lasted as long as he did because teams thought he was too dumb to learn the playbook. What!? Those teams are the dumb ones.

Got to love this pick. It's really amazing seeing how much one person can help a line. I mean, last year our line was good but we had Todd and other guys come in and block. However, it's almost a sure guarantee that the RT side of the line isn't going to get any pressure whatsoever and even with Gaither's side.

Plus you got to love this dude's attitude, a man beast.

I'm still trying to figure out how Andre Smith was rated (at least on the Bungles' board)higher than Oher... oh, that's right, they're the Bungles.

Yup. Most experts had him as a top 10 pick.

Most magazines and mocks had Oher rated as the fourth OT as well, wasn't just the Bungles.

So that tells me the Bungles should stop relying on Draft Sharks to do their scouting for them.

I was talking to my Steelers friend at lunch today, and he asked if we could trade o-lines with them.
[/quote]

Sure, if they throw in 10 1sts and Hairball.

I saw a play were Michael Oher Right tackle took out a defensive line player it was awesome...I think as he gets more and more comfortable with cam and mr Matsko's system the sky's the limit for him...

Niner fans are second guessing not going after him with their pick...

The only problem is Flacco doesn't want stealer O-line...
On the other hand Titan O-line Mawaee and Scott that's a pretty tight o-line..

Well, there were some techniques issues as well, but those can be fixed.

The best part of all this......it's only going to get better! Once these guys really start to gel, I think they can be "scary" good. Don't forget that Birk is still learning the new system also. Imagine how good these guys could be after spending a year or two together. ;)
Bottom line, absolute brilliant pick by Ozzie!

He actually fell because of inconsistency in his final season, scouts said he didnt play up to his potential, that potential being "The best pure LT prospect since Orlando Pace" and comparisons to Jonathan Ogden a year before. These same scouts said he would be the number 1 overall pick (and probably should have been the way things are going in Detroit)

Oher even said he was the best LT before the draft, Ozzy listened.

Yeah, thats one area we are all over the Steelers in terms of talent. Flacco is showing what he can do as well, its great to see. If I was Pittsburgh, I would be worried. We're getting a real offense now, look out NFL!

we only want players over the age of 12 until I see a testosteron test and proof by a lower voice then we dont want hairball here

It will be interesting to see if Oher ever wins Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week. It seems like it would be hard for an O-lineman to win when put up against the likes of Mark Sanchez, etc.

In his rookie season, no one ever considered Flacco in the draft and then everyone overlooked him during the regular season and then downsized him by saying it was the running game & defense that carried us to the AFC Championship game. This year, it's been all the "sophomore curse" talk but who came out firing on all cylinders? Is ranked 12th yards per game and total yards, tied for 2nd in TD passes and ranked 7th in QB ratings?

Who's laughing now?

Now, Oher has joined the "hottest" team going into his rookie season and has been off to a great start. Just another player, that I'm sure all the fans feel the same way about, the Ravens organization will never have to let go of until he's ready to retire.

Andre Smith's arrival at Bengals' HQ was hilariously awkward on "Hard Knocks." The brass were all but seething with anger at his holdout. Guy's way overweight, immediately breaks his foot, and will probably stink it up when he gets back. Jason Smith is just, ehhh. Oher and Loadholdt might end up the best linemen in the draft.

Oher doesn't look like a rookie at all. His run blocking is just what you want to see, beastly. He's got a little work to do swinging out faster against speed rushers, but that's obviously something he can and will correct.

I remember how much that Cowboys' o-line helped Smith and Aikman in the mid-90's, literally picking up and throwing Greg Lloyd and Kevin Greene around in that Super Bowl. If there's one unit on the team you want to be premium, the 0-line is it, and we got it.
