Brian Billick On Nfl Network

7 posts in this topic

So I turned on NFL network long enough today to hear Brian Billick say to Mike Mayock "I'll bet my pay check to yours that...... (I don't remember what exactly he was betting on) ...... and I'm still getting my paychecks from the Ravens so I'm sure I get payed more than you"

what the h. e. double hockey sticks!

I'm so glad he's not the coach of the team anymore, I'm disgusted by the things he did on our team and I'm glad that John is purging the team from the Brian touch. Boller is gone, Mike Brown overpayed bench warmer.... gone, Mike Flynn was past his prime.... gone. We at long last have the identity of a winning team now that his stench is off the team.

Sorry but I've got some strong feelings against Brian Billick

I greatly appreciate that he helped Baltimore win a Super Bowl (before Indianapolis I might add), but I'll never forgive him for losing to the Colts in the playoffs. That had to be some of the worst offensive play calling in NFL history. :(

For what it's worth, Billick really knew his X's and O's, but started to really decline after 2003 in his gameday decision-making, with 2006 possibly being the slight exception. He couldn't find a way to motivate the guys who heard the same old stuff from him, and he really wasn't all that great at evaluating talent in retrospect.

I have no ill will towards him since he's said nothing bad about Baltimore after leaving (his continual severence pay from Steve Bisciotti, notwithstanding), and I really think he's fit to be a broadcaster. He'll probably coach again some day, but I wouldn't be too heartbroken to keep seeing him do his thing. He might eventually be the next Madden-esque broadcasting icon if he puts in more time.

Close, just checked on NFL.com, it was 15 - 6. Yup, all field goals. I still feel like punching walls thinking about that game.....

On our summer vacation we ran into some Bronco fans at a restaurant, and I sort of razzed them about Cutler. We got to talking about our teams and the guy asked why we dumped Billick. Not wanting to spend the rest of the vacation on the topic, I just told him that basically Billick had outstayed his effectiveness. How I wanted to go into it, but we'd still be there.
