Prescott Burgess Traded To Pats For 7Th Rd Pick

According to Aaron Wilson, the Ravens cut Prescott Burgess today to create space to add a player at another position!

Any ideas on who we're bringing in?

I guess this makes sense, but Burgess was a ST maven.

yeah, why are we sacrificing a good ST player for what will most likely be a backup. our ST sucks already. Unless this is McAlister or a trade of somesort ill be a bit mad. Burgess is a great player with lots of potential IMO

Yeah. I just read that he had 5 ST tackles against the Chargers. I don't get it. We aren't playing a guy who we invested a 2nd round pick in because of ST and now we cut a productive special teamer.

Barring a trade for some legitimate talent I don't see who could be worth it from whats left of the free agent pool. Its probably Tyree but do we really need him? I'd rather see Harper given a chance. Maybe without the pressure of being cut hanging over his head he could stop dropping passes.

i will trust in what the coachs are doing but i will say i dont agree with cutting him if this is true because he has been huge for us thus far on ST.

Ravens LB Prescott Burgess traded to NE for a conditional 7th round draft pick. TE Tony Curtis was signed for the open roster spot.

It was only a matter of time. There was no way we were going to keep 10 LBs the whole season. Burgess was a very good special teamer, but he was a victim of too much depth. We still got Ellerbe who looked good on special teams in preseason, so maybe he is fully healthy now and we can let Burgess go to add some depth where we need it.

Wow...that will help Patriots depleted LB core. Good deal for NE, but at least we got something for him. Hope he doesn't hurt us week 4 - with his play or with his knowledge of our team.

It sounds like New England could have picked him up without giving up a pick. Apparantly Burgess was told this morning he was being cut and then was told this afternoon he was being traded instead! Either way it seems like he was definitely gone by today and Curtis was coming in.

I was thinking this was gonna be a move to get Paul Kruger in games but not sure what the case is now that we sign Curtis. This shows me two things though. 1) We aren't comfortable with Edgar as our 2nd TE and 2) LJ isn't gonna be healthy anytime soon.

First of all, why would the Patriots want Burgess at all? I don't really see what he has to offer. Atleast for a 7th round pick. Hell he's been hurt since he pretty much got into the NFL. I think Patriots want an insider that has knowledge of our defensive schemes and overall team information. We play the Patriots in two weeks!! Haha. J/K but hey you never know anymore with spygate. LOL!

and on top of that a team that we have to play in 2 weeks?


and we all know bill belichick is a master thinker..he'll find someway to turn this into a one up over the Ravens

Yeah just like how Rex went and got Kevin O'Connel the former backup to brady and named him captain and signed him so he could give information to the Jets on NE's offense? Yeah I guess since you can't watch other teams practices anymore the new thing is to get players of the team your going to face and have them tell you the playbook of their former team.

I'm glad we got the extra draft pick, we had 6 last year now we have 8 in a strong draft class.

Even though I think we could have gotten more for Burgess, I think Ozzie made a great trade! We needed Curtis due to LJ's inability to stay healthy!! THis probably means Kruger will be active on sunday and we will be blitz happy on Brady Quinn!!IN OZZIE WE TRUST!!!
