Anywhere To Tailgate?

17 posts in this topic

Good morning everybody. I am a Browns fan visiting your fine stadium this week. Where is the best spot to tailgate? We will get there early, because the way my Browns are playing, the tailgate may very-well be the highlight of my day Sunday. Anyhow, can anybody "throw me a bone", and let me know a good spot to go?

If you're willing to pay $40.00, there are plenty of private lots around the stadium. Arrive early for the best spots. You may be able to get into Lot J for $35.00.

Man, $40? It is sounding like I'm going to go broke, just to come and see my team get waxed this week. Well, thanks for the response. I'll try to figure it out...

I frequent one of the Browns boards for reading purposes and the fans were mad because the Muni lot went up to 15 bucks:lol: that is so cheap compared to what we pay.

There is a nice, cheap area for like 15-20 bucks under the interstate, I believe it is Oerstrand Street or something like that. I have tailgated there before and usually has a lot of visiting fans there. Wish I wasnt so bad with directions!

If you have google earth its SOUTH EAST of the stadium and right under the Interstate and on the water. There is a Blue Roofed building to the right of it.

Forgettaboutit! You must have been there 10 years ago. Every private cash lot east of the stadium is in the $35-$45 range. That particular lot which you described is in that price range, and is among the worst in the area for egress -- figure an extra 1/2 hour just to get out of the lot onto Ostend Street.

If the Brownies want to tailgate, that will be the going rate for most private lots within 1/2 mile of the stadium. Parking garages north and east of the stadium near the Inner harbor and Downtown are cheaper, but no tailgating, plus a hefty walk.

Check out the tailgate parking thread in our "Questions" forum. Also, Lot J thread.

If saving $$$ is more important than tailgating, you can take the Light Rail for $3.30 round trip. Free parking at BWI Business District or Glen Burnie-Cromwell, but you'd likely be the only car tailgating in the commuter lot. You may want to skip your own tailgate by instead walking the Eutaw Promenade, between the baseball and football stadia, where there are outdoor bars, grilled food stands, music, activities. (Note that Light Rail trains sleep in on Sunday mornings, so your time in the stadium vicinity would be limited.)

If you want to save $, I reccomend parking in one of the decks (which is 10 - 20 dollars...the one I usually park in for O's games is 10) and just walking over to the tailgating areas by the stadium. You'll find plenty of friendly fans to hang out with and tailgate. I park in one of the Ravens Roosts (at the school right behind the lots) and walk over to the tailgating areas and meet up with random fans playing corn hole or beer pong and talk football.

Anyone know...Ive only gone to Pickles before O's games, never before a Ravens game. Do people hang out there before game time? or is that too early for the bar to be open before a 1 o'clock game?

I went to Pickles before a game 2 years ago, so unless something has changed, they should be open with plenty of time to drink before a 1PM game.

To the Browns fans, I think everyone has pretty much touched on your options. To park in a lot close to the stadium that you can tailgate in is gonna run you in the neighborhood of $40. To save money park in one of the garages and come to the Ravens Walk (the previously mentioned Eutaw Promenade) where there are multiple drink and food options with a bunch of standing bar tables and some seating too. It's outside (let's hope for nice weather), there are always a ton of people there, and they have a huge screen showing the pre-game show.
