Love him or hate him Harbaugh said he doesn't care what people say about Walker and that he thinks he's a heck of a player.
I really wouldn't expect our coach to say, "Walker is an undisciplined scrub who will give up four big plays and draw three flags for every decent play he makes, and there really are no better options out there at the moment."

I'm not gonna say told you so

I'd hope not. He still has yet to prove anything. After all, we're talking about a guy that nearly everyone was shocked when he made the roster.
Glad he broke that play up and all, but I think we need to steer clear of the Walker altar until he steps his game up.

Take a look at last year's CHAMPIONSHIP GAME and tell me Waker didn't step up! Go Ravens.

Foxworth may not be McCallister, but he has that rare ability to shake off being beat and go right at the guy on the next play. He was like a great hitter in baseball who strikes out the first three times up but wins the game in the ninth with a clutch hit.
Foxworth maybe...

But your analogy, applied to Walker, is what people here are saying. Making one good play in the end zone is great - but you can't "strike out 3 times" (i.e., give up big plays) as a CB, make one good end zone stop, and be considered a good CB.

The best corners are consistent. They get beat once-in-a-while, but more times than not, they shut down WRs - like Revis did yesterday against NE. Chris McAlister, 5 years ago, was so consistent, QBs wouldn't throw at him (except for Peyton ;) ). He was a shutdown corner.

Frank Walker is a physical tackler, but not a shutdown corner - because he's not consistent.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Walker has still proven nothing. Every squirrel finds a nut....especially when that nut is a #4 WR. If Walker does this: 1. consistently and 2. against guys who aren't bums, then maybe I'll reconsider. Until then, I'll just smile and nod my head when he does something right.
Walker was the #2 later in the game. Walker played #2 last year also. Walker is fairly consistent.

You forget the plays he wasn't in, those are the plays that counts. The times Rivers decided not to throw in his coverage. You guys are limited to remedial thinking.

Are we really? Then apparently so is our staff, since your boy Walker was nearly cut from our team a couple of weeks ago.
He was our number two because our starter got hurt, and Rolle wasn't in uniform, so I guess if you have to choose between a rookie, a ST specialist and a veteran, it's really not a hard decision to put Walker in at #2. We really had to dig deep down in the barrel to get Walker in the game.
If he's so good, please, tell me, why isn't he starting for us?

Of course, we have much better options than him, that's why he isn't a starter.

It's also why he never started in New York or GB. I mean seriously, cant get a starting gig in GB??

Because Foxworth, Washington, and possibly Rolle are still better than him. Not a hard concept at all.

This is just my humble opinion, but Walker has always been OVER-physical at corner, which has caused many mistakes and MANY penalties in the past which I believe is the reason he is so low on the depth chart. That being said, that physicality is the same reason he had some success against the Chargers big, physical receivers. If you get up and bump smaller/skinnier receivers at the line and stay physical past 5 yards you get flagged all day, but against the huge WRs of SD, that won't be called and you can get away with more to get in there and break up passes.

Good, glad you have no problem grasping the concept that there's three guys on his own team that's better than him. And why has he never started in New York or GB? Because he sucks, maybe? When you spend 7 years in the league as a back up, let's face it, maybe you're just not very good.
I don't understand the humor. I personally believe there is a solution for the chargers offense:

1. Blitz and don't allow time for a play to develop
2. Cover and don't allow single coverage

Each team has to have exclusive plan relative to their weapon. Our plan for them requires extra modification.
I think this post destroys any credibility you have as an authority on defensive analysis
You guys are limited to remedial thinking.

And this gem is priceless considering the above.

If you want to maintain an opinion on Walker, that's fine and dandy. But please don't call me stupid just because I see things differently from you. It's especially surprising coming from you, since you were the one who was talking in another thread about how you think differently from others.

Relatively speaking. He's still paid $1.9 to play football for a living.

Pretty much every fan including myself wanted this guy out and then he comes up big and punches the ball out of a would of been touchdown reception. Hes really our only physical corner and I don't think any of our other CB's could of made that play. Thanks Frank.
He made 1 GOOD play since i have seen him come in for an injured corner. He needs to go. When he is in I GET extremely nervous.. this guy gets beat pretty much 99.8% of the time..

We are known for our elite defense, and there is no room for complacency and players that are comparative to the rest of the NFL "relatively speaking".

Lets be honest... Frank Walker is just as likely to have jumped up and punched the receiver's head in. For a moment, for a small moment, the football gods looked down and took pity on our corners.

I wasn't even going to take it that far....Walker has never even started for teams like the Giants when they desperately needed a CB or Green freaking Bay a couple years ago.

He's not up to lesser defenses' standards, much less ours.

But then I realized I'm tired of wasting my time debating over a scrub, so, meh.....people can kneel at the Walker altar if they wish. I'll be hear to read their posts after some unheard of bum lights Walker up and listen to what excuse is made.

Did you not see the very next play after he broke up the touchdown pass?

I didn't, what happened?

Theres no debating that fact I think everybody is like "ahhh what the heck walkers in", my original post was more geared toward he showed why hes a professional DB, he may not be good but he made a play when it counted. He'll go back to his old self no doubt but it was more a cudos for the clutch play rather than a forgiveness.

Ok, I can definitely give him kudos for making a play. Thanks for breaking up the TD pass thrown to SD's #4 WR, Mr. Walker.

Frank Walker is the worst thing to hit the NFL since Corey Ivy.

That pretty much sums it up

I said early on I wasn't apologizing to Frank Walker. And people were giving me negative reps. The problem with Walker is he doesn't ever know where the football is. That's why he always commits penalties.

He's always playing catchup. Then he sees the receivers hands go up, and he jumps on them. But ahh its too early.
