I didn't have time to come up and make posts on the forum so I'll make my post recap.

Offense: Looked pretty solid out there. I wanted to see more passing but I think their secondary was covering our receivers well. I'm sure we'll continue to make improvements on the passing game.

A big hats off to Kelly Washington for making the big TD reception. LOL Squirrel Dance. I can't believe he did that!

Defense: Secondary needs work more on deflecting the ball. Overall I think they faired pretty well against a top notch AFC Offense. They'll have to prove their worth very soon when we go on to play the Pats in 2 weeks.

Big hats off on the defense for forcing Red Zone FGs and an INT instead of TDs. Against most other defenses it probably would've been a 50+ point game in favor of the Chargers. However, it wasn't.

They have their work cut out for them this week. I'm confident that the secondary will improve.

It was a good nail biter game. Looks like I'll have a week or two to let me nails grow back!

My favorite was when the Chargers thought they could run the ball on 4th and 2, and there was this guy named Ray something that came through the middle and basically stopped him in his place. Did you remember that?

Well I was watching the game from start to finish but it was too exciting for me to get away for a second to use the computer so here's my thoughts:

First off everyone needs to stuff it about how "short-handed" the Chargers are. Every time the Ravens did something all I heard from the commentators was "Oh but the Chargers have injuries", and whenever the Chargers did something they acted like it was a miracle because of how "short-handed" they are. Now we've got the recap on ESPN saying "The Ravens vs. the short-handed Chargers", come on now, please.

Second Willis looked great but how about Kelley Washington making the big plays. Best receiver we had out there today.

Lastly and appropriately, our secondary was awful. Horrible. No excuses. Our front seven played great all game stuffing the run, putting pressure on to force turnovers, but our secondary was plain bad. Every single one of them except oddly enough Frank Walker who SAVED it for us at the end. Ray Lewis made a phenomenal game-winning play but he never has a chance to if Frank Walker doesn't knock the ball out of the receiver's hand on that would-be touchdown pass.

Fox and Fab need to eat their veggies, because apparently all it takes is a tall receiver to beat them.

Phew, we won. Thank God. Let's fix our secondary issues and be better.

they were in pretty good position in some of the long plays they gave up it just so happens to be that the Chargers receivers have some of the finest ball skills in all of football. And you got to give credit to Rivers as well, he had to make an absolutely perfect pass to make some of those plays.

This is why I don't look at the gameday thread on the forum during a game. You guys can get so emotional and negative in a hurry! We need to try and stay positive and just like the players have to when things are going bad. That's the only way they can turn it around.

Those guys giving our secondary flack need to stop for a second. We have a weakness, but not every team can exploit it because it is all physical. We cannot cover big, strong and fast receivers. D Bowe showed that in the KC game and now the Vincent Jackson and company showed it in this game. Those guys had at least six inches on our corners. Remember the pass where Fabian Washington had a perfect read on the ball and would have intercepted it if Jackson didn't leap over him and knock it away? He had perfect position, perfect coverage, just that the receiver was huge and just reached over his head! Other games this year where we face big receivers are Bengals, Pats, Broncos, Packers and Lions. We have time to improve. But at the same time our corners are good and capable, they just have a weakness against the big, tall guys.

Make no mistake. That win against the Chargers was huge! That was a monumental victory. Our team is going to use that win as inspiration for the rest of the season. We have a lot of pride and humility to take from this game. I think the coaches came up with a good gameplan and we stuck to it. It may not have been pretty, but it paid off in the end. Next up, the Browns at home. We need to come out and just dominate them to make it 3-0 before heading to New England. Week 4 will be another instrumental game in our season. If we beat the Pats, we set the stage to be one of the best teams in the AFC leading into the playoffs.

This game was kinda like the Indy game last year, only our offense (and Ray) wouldn't allow us to lose. Let's hope its our worst performance in the secondary this year, and we still got a win out of it.
