The Baltimore Ravens’ 1st road game of the season will be played at the San Diego Chargers, a team that has won 4 of the last 5 AFC West Division titles, including one last season. These two 2008 playoff-qualifiers meet next Sunday, Sept. 20, at Qualcomm Stadium at 4:15 p.m. ET. Baltimore, a 38-24 winner over the visiting Chiefs last Sunday, is 1-0. In the AFC North, Pittsburgh won its opener, while Cleveland and Cincinnati both lost home games last Sunday. The Chargers played at the Raiders Monday night, winning 24-20. In the victory over Kansas City, the Ravens’ offense set a team record with 501 total yards, while the defense allowed just 188 yards (50 of those coming on 1 pass completion). QB Joe Flacco set career highs in yards (307), attempts (43) and TD passes (3). Flacco completed passes to 7 different receivers with WR Mark Clayton (5 for 77), TE Todd Heap (5 for 74) and RB Willis McGahee (4 for 31) catching the TD tosses. McGahee and FB Le’Ron McClain scored TDs on runs. After the trip to San Diego, the Ravens complete September with a home game against the Browns (9/27). Baltimore starts October with a contest at New England (10/4) and then returns to M&T Bank Stadium to play the Bengals on 10/11 before playing at Minnesota on 10/18. (The Ravens play the 4 teams from both the AFC West and the NFC North this season.)

With injuries to the Chargers up front, I expect the Ravens to dominate up front on both sides of the ball.

Injuries has turned this game from a potential AFC Championship preview, into a game that the Ravens should control throughout and run away with. Hopefully the Ravens won't allow SD to hang around in this game.

I can see both Ray Rice and Willis McGahee getting 15-20 touches. The running game will probably produce about 180-200 yards and a couple of TDs.

Without big Jamal in the middle pushing the pocket, the Ravens will be able to slide their protection to the OLBs. So I don't think the SD pass rush will be effective in this game.

Without pressure on him, I can see Flacco showing up huge in this game. We won't see Joe throwing 40+ times, but I can definitely see him going 25/30 280 2 tds.

The offense steps up in this game and proves they can get it done just as well against a better team.

On the defensive side of the ball, the pass rush and secondary will put everyones mind at ease. The Ravens will come away with at least 2 turnover from this game.

I think the Ravens come out early and take control of this game. For the second time in as many weeks, the Ravens offense scores on their opening possession. The Chargers keep the game close for a well, before the Ravens pull away in the second half.

Ravens win big 31-10.

My original prediction for this game was a Ravens close win. However with all the injuries to that Chargers team, I just don't think they'll be able to hang with the Ravens long enough. I don't think that as a team they are tough enough to overcome those injuries.

So we'll see. It should be fun.

Just watching NFL playbook on NFL network and saw Joe Theisman, Sterling sharpe, and Brian Baldinger are all picking the ravens and said they were going to be a good and fun team to watch this year. So much for the chargers being the sexy super bowl pick i guess.

Anyway i am feeling a lot more confident about this game. No hardwick, no johnson, no williams and no LT. I would rather have LT play though as the quick backs are the ones that always give us problems but maybe that might change a little bit as we are going to play a little more out of the Base 4-3 instead of all the crazy stuff rex used to do. Good teams take advantage of situations like this and i expect the ravens to.

Still i am not confident enough to allow my brother to come over to watch the game though as every time he came over last year they lost.

Little nervous bout today's game(surprise right?) Rivers is always iffy if he's on he's very dangerous but if we get to him early he doesn't shake things off very well imo. so guys hit him hard and early and we come home 2-0

Normally I don't post on gameday threads. I don't want to jinx anything and I don't want to underestimate any team. The Chargers are a good team and can potentially still put up a good fight against us. I still think we are strong, though. If we stay focused and execute, we can win this. We have to come out and play hard-nosed football. Hit them hard, hit them quick on both sides of the ball. It is time for us to step up and take our place as an elite team in this league. And I think that starts with beating the good teams. We have a couple on our schedule this year. We need to start winning games against teams like the Pats, Steelers, Colts, Chargers. I think we also have franchise making games against the Vikings, Bears and Packers. These are the games that will define us this season. I think we have the foundation to accomplish a lot of great things this season, all things remaining constant. We have solid depth behind our starters and are a strong team all around. Once we continue to make strides on special teams if think we will be a really scary team for our opponents.

He doesn't contribute as much as other players and is behind Suggs, who doesn't really take plays off. So until he learns to contribute on ST or something, he seems to be riding the bench!

Can someone tell me if it's just coincidence that my boss, who is a Steelers fan, has set up my schedule so that I work during every Ravens game?
