Dunta Robinson Possible Fa Next Year...

7 posts in this topic

Let's worry about the Free Agents after this season when the off-season comes along, right now just how John Harbaugh put it last year: W.I.N = What's Important Now, and that is the Chargers tomorrow.

Side Note: I would love to see Vincent Jackson come to Baltimore if the Chargers don't re-sign him before the season ends.

Foxworth just signed a 4 year, $27 million deal this year. Fabian is a free agent after making $1.5 million this year...

However, Dunta, as a Franchisee, is making $9.9 million, just this year. He'll want comparable dollars, considering what the Ravens paid to get Foxworth. Fabian, on the other hand, may not insist on that high a salary...

The upgrade, of Dunta over Fabian, is not worth $5+ million per year. Keep Fabian, for cheaper.

Granted, the DBs played poorly... and I'm understating.

However, Robinson is going to want ProBowl money, because he's of ProBowl caliber. The question is, can the Ravens afford him, at the neglect of the rest of the team? The difference between paying Fabian Washington $3-4 million, vs. $9 million for Dunta, might not be worth it, considering the free agents due to get new contracts next year:

Starting Offense: Derrick Mason, Mark Clayton, Jared Gaither, Chris Chester, LeRon McClain

Starting Defense: Tavares Gooden, Dawan Landry, Fabian Washington, Sam Koch

Backup Offense: Troy Smith, Kelley Washington, Demetrius Williams, L.J. Smith, Adam Terry, Marshal Yanda, John Beck, Matt Lawrence

Backup Defense: Justin Bannan, Antwan Barnes, Prescott Burgess, Dwan Edwards, Frank Walker
