I think the fact that a team with the starpower of the Chargers is on the verge of a blackout, will definitely make the Commish reconsider the league's blackout rules for one season, even though he's publicly stated many times that he won't back down.

I know the Chargers have a great Fan base. Either times are really hard for them right now, or the beach is more tempting. I hope they sellout, its going to be too good of a game for people not to see it.

Its the California economy! Theyre bankrupt remember? And high Gas prices in southern California could have an effect on why Charger fans not buying tickets.

Yeah, How high is the gas there? It would have to be really high for me not to go see my team, lol

I find it funny Gooddell says he doesnt want to give his product away free. So, if he sells 66K tickets, instead of 67K, the owners, NFL aren't making any money? LOL

There are a lot of die hard Charger fans, the weather is nice right now, but many like me have a wife and kids, and it is very difficult to get to a game, sucks I can't watch them on TV.

Besides in the winter, it is sunny n warm here in San Diego, if we were snowed in, nothing to do, I am sure the Chargers would be a hot ticket in town, when we had cabin fever!

Anyway, new to board, good luck Sunday, I am nervous with our fractured O-line, and your LB's.

PS: Anyone know how to add an avatar?

I'll agree with our competitor fan, its a lot easier to sell tickets in a place like Green Bay where Football is the only thing to do.

What would they put on tv instead? The Ketchups game? An infomercial? Kind of the same thing.

How about that? Doesn't want to give "his product*" away "for free**."

*when did he start playing football?

** free + advertising bucks + cable/satellite charges + gear income. C'mon.

I have no idea what they play on a blackout, I suppose another game. I go Tuna Fishing during blackouts. 75º weather and 70º blue water are a nice alternative. ;-)

Hey fouts! Any idea why the last SD preseason game was blocked in LA?? I thought the blackouts were only within 75 miles of SD. I'm way further than that. Man, I hope attendance picks up. I only have tix to 2 games so far for this season.

You can add avatars and sigs after a set number of posts (currently 25 but we'll be reducing that shortly). This is to prevent spammers from adding crude images/advertising their sites, which has been a problem in the past.

Is this going to affect fans on the east coast as well? :(
I've never had a problem watching any Ravens games on regular (broadcast) tv except MNF (ESPN).

It's already on the scedule for channel 13.

Isn't that weird? What if a big-market tam like the Pattys, Ketchups or Cowgirls were playing an away un-sold out game? Think it would still be on tv?

Don't worry, T.V. blackouts only affect the home team broadcast, not the visiting team.

yeah, i don't know why they wouldn't sell out. i live in socal, about 2-3 hrs. away from SD and living here, you wouldn't know that there was a recession going on. Gas prices are high, but we're used to it being around 3.20. anyway i'll be there sunday... Field Section 0 Go ravens.

The SD and LA TV markets basically overlap. Because of the 75 (or 90 mile rule, I forget which), it results in a blackout bubble being penciled on over the entire two market area. Stupid and unfair...but that's the NFL braintrust for you.

Having said that, the Bolts are down to 1100 tix and have 24 more hours. It will sell out. As long as it gets down to about a 1000 tix by the deadline, local TV and local indian reservations will step up and buy the remaining. I'd be VERY surprised if that doesn't happen this time.

I have to ask, what is the benefit of a blackout?
To force fans to go out and buy tickets, if they want to see their team play.

I heard that the NFL will allow the games to be re-broadcast on NFL.com some point after the game is over, even if it's blacked out locally on TV, so it's not a total loss...

I know a whole mess of people here in OC going to San Diego this weekend for the game. Last time i checked it was like 75
Awesome. I'm close to OC, but not going, wish I could. I hope it will be a sellout
and I also hope that everyone will see the RAVENS Defense to stop Tomlinson, sack Rivers and Flacco light up the scoreboard !!! And RAVENS spanking the Chargers.

Well I found some good plaza tickets but I remember how awful that stadium is so I think I'd rather sit at home and watch it on TV. If I don't get to because of a blackout, ah well at least I didn't have to be in that terrible building.
