Rex's Voicemail To Jets Fans

12 posts in this topic

Did anyone just catch that? Rex left a voicemail for all the Jets season ticket holders yesterday telling them to come be loud and support them against the Patriots on Sunday. Thought it was kind of a good PR move on his part with the Jets fans...just wonder if the Jets will back it up come Sunday. Their players are being outspoken too...one of their linebackers guaranteed 6 sacks on Brady. Anyone else catch it? they played the voicemail on ESPN as well.

Rex has been talking A LOT of crap all season, he wants all the help he can get to try to back it up. As much as I hate to agree with Tom Brady, talk is cheap Rex, you talked crap before the presesaon game, and look what happened.

I'm expecting the Pats to pound the Jets. The way Rex has been mouthing off, now the players are starting? Notice how Belicheat hasn't said a thing? He'll say it this Sunday by doing such things as still passing in the fourth quarter while up by 30 points. I wouldn't put money on the Jets if you gave me 20 points!

Great PR move and I'd love this if I were a Jets fan, but I don't think it'll do much. I still say the Patriots have their way with the Jets despite how they struggled against the Bills this past Monday.

Rex is gonna be Rex. I have never liked the NY Jets or any other NY team for that matter, but I HATE the Pats. On one hand I hope the Jets to pull off the upset, on the other hand if the Jets win Mark Sanchez is going to be jammed down our throats by ESPN and NFLNetwork at nausieum

And that's exactly why I want the Pats to win; at least if New England comes out on top, it'll be same-old, same-old all over again and they'll just chalk it up to the Pats being the Pats. If the Jets win, they'll make a big deal about the upset and how Mark Sanchez did so many things well, etc.

Mark Sanchez is no Joe Flacco. I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it again until next season. After this season, I could care less how his career goes, but I take exception to how the media assumes that Sanchez and Matthew Stafford are the next Flacco and Matt Ryan. Flacco and Ryan were successful because that extra year in college fully prepared them for the NFL; Sanchez has barely been a starter in college, and a few analysts questioned whether Stafford should've stayed in school and proven that he could play without Knowshon Moreno.

Would it bother you if Sanchez and/or Stafford ends up having bigger rookie years than Flacco/Ryan did?

Yea, but it'd be a welcome change to having Tom Brady and the Pats shoved down our throats.

You guys are forgetting one important thing. While these media types are all over Sanchez and Stafford, they are not in Flacco's face or the Ravens business. I interpret this as a good thing for the Ravens. Keep in mind that it may be short lived anyway if the Ravens keep winning.

When I read the title of this thread, I wondered what Rex was spouting off about now, but asking the fans to rally around the team is exactly the kind of spouting off he should be doing.

Stick to this, Rex, and maybe some of us can go back to rooting for you and the Jets. As it is, I might actually want the Patriots to win. Blech.

In the talking heads defense, I haven't heard all that much about Stafford being the next great rookie quarterback in quite a while. Maybe the fact that he plays for the Detroit Lions has finally sunken in... then again, maybe I'm not watching enough television.

Ryan: no.
Flacco: yes.

It would be kind of sad to have Flacco's playoff record broken in just one year. Now if the Lions somehow made it to the Superbowl and the Ravens defeated them, that'd be okay with me. ;)

I was going to say that it would be a welcome change to having Big Beth and Steelers shoved down our throats. XD

That's possible, but the Jets are in a bigger market and promoting Sanchez offers the opportuntiy to tap into the Hispanic fanbase and (if those GQ pictures are any indication) the female fanbase as well. Plus Rex Ryan is always giving the media stuff to work with.
