What's ironic is that Billick was an offensive mastermind and our current head coach used to be a special teams coordinator. Let's hope the next HC isn't a defensive coordinator or things could get ugly, lol.

Billick doesnt know what a quarterback looks like if it hit him in the face.

If Billick wants to get back in the NFL he will have to prove himself in College. Why not coach at the University at Maryland and if he can recruit players and get that team into top 5 rankings and go to a BCS Bowl game and win it hes ready to come back in the NFL. Look at all the former Ravens assistant coaches on NFL Teams except for Billick. Wonder why? Nobody wants him after what he did to the Ravens like Picking Kyle Boller in the draft. Plus he sent Derrick Anderson on the Pratice squad allowed him become a starting QB on the Browns. So Quit whining Billick and go to the Terps next year and Recruit a dam good QB from high school and bring home a National Championship and then you can go back into the NFL.

What he did to the Ravens was take a struggeling expansion team from the 4-12 basement of the AFC to a respectable 8-8 and then a 12-4 championship run the very next season. You can't blame him for picking Boller, because Boller COULD have been a very good quarterback he just got pressed into service way before he was ready back when the Ravens O-line was in shambles with exception to J.O. we know the rest of that story. Billick's main problem was that he let the team get away from him on several occasions, and because he didn't run a tough camp the Ravens always looked terrible in the pre-season through the first few weeks of the regular season

Then why havent anybody in the NFL hired him yet? Why didnt the Lions contact him for an head coaching job or maybe an OC position there? Not even Al Davis wanted him. But most teams wanted Rex Ryan and Marvin Lewis but not Billick. So Billick has to run his mouth off at his former team cause no one would take him.

Maybe Billick technically isn't able to go coach for another team because he's still being paid by the Ravens? (Remember, he got that contract extension for 3 years right before he got fired.) So I don't know if his contract forbids him from coaching until its expired, but that seems like a possibility. I vaguely remember him saying something like he didn't want to coach again in an interview after he got fired, rather go be an analyst and announcer, which I actually think he's good at.

I like to see Mr Goodell make another rule. No former NFL coach or player criticize your former team or pay an $20,000 fine. Even if youre employed by CBS.

Everyone seems to be hiring the young inexperienced guys. I guess it's a lot cheaper.

Though if I was getting paid coach money for 3 years where I didn't even have to coach...I sure wouldn't hire on with another team instead. Coaching is a LOT of work.

 Yeah, did you know that after winning the SuperBowl with Ravens, Billick introduced new offensive style called Billick Bowl?
1st down, Kyle Boller hands off to Jamal Lewis, run
2nd down, Kyle Boller hands off to Jamal Lewis, run
3rd down, if it's short, repeat step 1
if it's long, Kyle Boller make incomplete pass
4th down, punt, defense takes over

I was reading the thread and i dont know why every single comment has a negative rep (or whatever they are called) attached to it. i honestly dont care about the rep stuff but this is kind of ridiculous. Someone is being a negative nancy!

I don't know if Billick was truly an offensive mastermind. I think alot of times coordinators get too much credit, some is well deserved and some isn't. Billick didn't sign or draft Carter, Moss and Cunningham, Dennis Green built that team and Billick had the luxury of working with All-star offensive talent. Look at the Patriots for example. No one that has left that staff and moved onto coaching has done well yet. No matter how well you plan or scheme if you can't draft the personnel and give them a direction you will fail. Another example is Dick Vermeil, when he coached the Rams they were a force! When their O-Coordinator took over the team got away from what made them good and slowly died. After he went on to coach other places he failed there also. Some people were not meant to be a head coach

yeah. Like Lewis said when people were talking about the loss of Ryan. He basically said that he or the players have been the one constant and not to give too much credit to the coaches.

I also agree with you on the qualities of a HC needs. Basically a really smart technical person who knows all the X's and O's might not be the best coach. A head coach is more about managing personalities and brining the team together. the OC or DC can do the X's and O's.

I am an engineer so i can give this analogy. The best project manager or project engineer is not always the smartest guy. In fact it helps if they arent all that smart/ technical as they can stand back and get the whole picture and not "stick their nose" in the parts they know the best and ignore the rest. The project manager has to lead and not be to worried about the technical stuff, that is for his team to worry about.

You have to be kidding.

Why in the hell would Brian Billick build a national championship caliber team out of the Terps, and then come back to the NFL as soon as possible? That would be monumentally stupid on his part.

I think there should be a limit on the amount of rep one poster can give out per day or something as anyone can virtually give unlimited reputation at this point.

Yes, it was strange watching Billick break down our offense and talk about the Ravens as if they were just another team he was analyzing.

But I will say this, Brian Billick has been nothing but gracious and humble since he was fired by the Ravens. The guy has barely spoke anything negative about his time here whether he actually feels that way or not. Even his book wasn't the "tell all" that everyone thought it would be. It was more about his experiences in the NFL from the time he started until now.

He's even admitted to making mistakes with the Ravens offenses over the years as well. Even taking the blame for Kyle Bollers misfortunes. And he speaks very very high praise for Joe Flacco.

But yes, it is still a little strange watching Billick on television and not have him as part of the Ravens.

I would have liked to see what Billick would have done with Flacco.

No thanks! Thats crazy talk! Why would you want a guy who had over 12 QB's play under his tenure to have anything to do with Joe Flacco?

On the other hand it makes me wonder what Cam Cameron could have done with Kyle Boller?

jez i didnt mean I would rather see him, I just wounder what it would be like

And yea, Cam would probably have either left or demand to get rid of Boller.
